Meanwhile, Serena got a call from the vice president of Blackstone University. Answering with a smile, she said, "Hey there, did you miss me?"

On the other end, a bald, overweight man chuckled, "Of course I did. I wish I could be with you right now, but I have some important news. Angel City is hosting an investment conference. From what I've heard, there's a research project that could snag a lot of government funding. You need to secure this project. If you pull it off, there'll be a reward for you."

Serena was excited. Blackstone University had top-notch teaching and brilliant researchers, so they definitely wanted in on this opportunity.

The bald then continued, "And from what I gather, this conference is being managed by a government advisor. Serena replied, "Honey, I'm a bit hesitant."

The vice president laughed, "I know it might be a bit of a stretch for you. But if you pull this off, I'll make sure you get a promotion."

Hearing this, Serena finally smiled.

Meanwhile, at home, Caitlin was chatting with Lucy.

Seeing Leon, Caitlin asked, "Leon, how'd your meeting with the professor go?"

Leon replied, "Went really well, no issues."

Caitlin smiled, "That's great. Lucy's really into Blackstone University. Since she wants to get in, we should help her."

Then Lucy said, "Oh, I remember Blackstone University posts the results on their website after evaluating students' families. We should know the results tonight."

Caitlin said, "That would be great."

Matthew smiled and said, "I believe Lucy will get in."

Samara felt very proud, thinking that life was finally going smoothly.
