Chapter 65: Have to Save Him
LILITH’S POV
I was busy searching about White wolf, just like me Irene was also understanding the need of having awareness about our ability. Till now I didn’t have learnt any ability which could make me different except that I fought with rogues alone without any training, which might have proved me to be a strong wolf but deep down I had this feeling that it isn’t enough and that it is not my best ability.
However, unfortunately, no one is much aware about White wolf’s abilities, including my aunt. Therefore, I was using the internet to do some searching, besides I don’t have much work about pack to do, things here are too much organized, Noah brief me earlier that ex Luna, means Caleb’s mother was very organized and competent. I haven’t met her, she is alive, but I didn’t see her in the pack nor listened from anyone about her before today from Noah. I wanted to ask him about her but then shrug off, I think asking from Caleb is better.
I was busy searching when intercom of my room ringed and I answered in surprise, well, having an intercom in wolf pack is absurd itself, we have mind link to get connected to. Anyways, I answered it and it was Caleb on the other side, asking me to come to his room, he wanted me to meet someone and I sighed.
Whenever I have someone to meet, things go bad, you can call it a coincidence, but I would call it a sign, a clear signal to me, hinting me of something coming bad. I locked the screen and stood up to go to his room, it was just next to mine, he could have come to take me by himself, at least being a mate, I deserve that much respect.
I entered his room and met Victor, he is the member of council, and he greeted me very warmly, giving me warmth of a father figure, I felt uneasy, missing my dad instantly. Maybe if he was alive, he would be of his age and exactly warm and sweet with me or maybe more than him. He asked me to sit beside him and they talked about witch, when suddenly he brought the discussion about a book in council’s library.
My eyes sparkled, a book on white wolf, I and Irene whoo in joy and I quickly stood up, excited to share it with Aunt Margaret. She had left for the visit to hospital; she is using her healing power to cure injuries of pack members and spend most of her time there. I followed her to the hospital but found her midway, she was accompanied by Willow.
‘Aunt, I have very good news to share with you’ I held her hand and said cheerfully.
‘What is it?’ She asked curiously.
‘A council member has visited Caleb, and he said that they have book in their library about White Wolf and he will send it to me after going back’
‘Is that so!’ she mumbled, her brows knitted.
‘That’s great, isn’t it granny. It will help Luna to understand her wolf’ I nodded, agreeing with her. Aunt smiled and sighed.
‘I never heard of any such book before, but if there is any, I am glad. Don’t forget to remind him when he leaves’ I nodded eagerly and started to walk with them.
‘Coming to hospital with us?’ she asked.
‘Yeah, I don’t have to do anything anyway, better to learn some medics from you’ she chuckled and we walked towards the hospital, when suddenly midway, my heart ache and I felt suffocated.
‘Aunt!’ I nudged her arm, resting one over my chest, rubbing it.
‘Lilith? What happened? Are you alright?’ she instantly got worried; I shook my head.
‘No, I am feeling suffocated, Irene is also anxious. It feels like I am in danger’ I licked my dry lips and coughed; the anxiety was spreading in my veins.
‘But Luna, we are in the pack, I can’t even sense any witch around’ I shook my head, water pooling in my eyes. I yelp, as if something was tearing inside me.
‘Lilith, our mate,’ I heard Irene’s loud scream in my head.
‘What happened to them?’ I managed to say between the pain, my heart racing and my body started to sweat despite the cold.
‘They are hurt; Kaden is weakening. I must go to save him’ I looked at Aunt, she was rubbing my hand, trying to heal me but it wasn’t working, issue wasn’t with me, it was with our mate, Caleb and Kaden.
‘I have to go; Caleb is in danger’ I said in panic and ran back on the same route that I walked past.
‘Lilith! Luna!’ I could hear their voices, following me from behind but I didn’t look back, my mind was drifted towards Caleb, my mate. He was in danger, my body felt a jolt, a sharp jerk that I nearly felt.
‘What the hell is he doing to him.’ In my mind Victor was the reason for his pain, but when I reached the floor, stumbling on my steps, falling and standing up all the way. I found Ethan and Noah struggling with something.
‘Why are you standing here, your Alpha is in trouble, go and help him’ losing my control I shouted at them, tears rolling down on my cheeks, the fear of losing him was slicing me. I could feel his fear and hopelessness. He was losing his life, drop by drop, oxygen, leaving his body. I ushered all of them on side, why the hell were they all standing here like stupid.
‘Why aren’t you going inside?’ I pushed one warrior and yelled.
‘There is invisible wall, we couldn’t pass it’ I followed their gaze and my eyes caught them, two witches, they were exactly those, I have seen near the border, I can’t see any wall though but seeing my mate tossing on the floor in suffering and hearing her evil laugh I lost and entered in the room.
‘Damn you witch, stop’ I shouted, distracting them. Caleb was panting, she was mocking him, intentionally hurting him by mentioning his father’s death. If I couldn’t stop them and save my mate, I might die with him. I can’t think of living without him.
If Caleb can’t fight with her, Ethan and Noah felt helpless, there is no chance for me to defeat them, but they weren’t my concern for now, it was only one person and that was my mate.
I saw the witch raising her hand in the air, ignoring me completely, swearing that she will kill him with this blow, I understood that it is my only chance to save him otherwise I will lose him for forever, I quickly ran towards him, the only thought at that time in my mind was to save my mate and I shielded him with my body, taking a jab, I whimpered.
‘Lilith’ I heard his faint voice, and saw him closing his eyes, my heart sank.
‘No! No Caleb. Wake up’ I patted him on cheek, when I heard the shocking voice of witch behind me.
‘How is this possible?’ I turned my face to glare at them.
‘What have you done to him’
‘My magic…it didn’t work on you, how?’ she stuttered in shock. I wanted to kill her, but Irene shouted to save our mate, I ignored those filthy women and ushered Caleb to wake up, I checked his pulse, he was breathing but it was slow.
‘What should we do? Shall I call Aunt, she can heal him’ I asked Irene, but she denied, my heart was at the verge of losing and crying, only I knew how I was keeping myself composed, my hands were shaking, I fisted my palm to control it.
‘It is magic, she has attacked Kaden, and Margaret can’t heal him’
‘Than what are you expecting me to do, watch him die?’ I yelled, my eyes burning. Every voice in my background becomes muffled and I didn’t care.
‘Let me take control,” she whispered, I don’t know what she was up to, but I trust her and the matter was about our mate. I let her take the charge.
My right hand turned in her white fur paw till elbow, she used her sharp nails to tear his shirt and make a deep cut on Caleb’s chest, blood splashes she let the blood flow, and after a moment, she placed her paw on the cut, letting it soak in his blood, pressing it deeper, passing through the cut.
‘What are you doing?’ I was shocked by seeing what she did.
‘Sshh!’ She shushes me down.
‘Trust me, I know what I am doing’ I hummed quietly biting my lips anxiously, as she was pressing her hand on his flesh with pressure, I felt a pain seeping in my arm, I groaned.
‘It hurts,’ I mumble.
‘I know, bear with me for a little more Lilith. We have to save them’ I nodded and squeezed my eyes shut to endure the pain quietly. After a while, when I was losing all strength in me because of the pain, I heard him groan and opened my eyes swiftly, he was coughing, Irene retreated her paw slowly and rubbed carefully over his cut, my eyes widened in shock and fear to watch his cut healing in a second, as if she didn’t make a cut here.
I wanted to ask questions from her, but my head was spinning and I couldn’t take it anymore.
‘Lose it Lilith. He is fine now. You can rest’ and I felt myself falling on his bare chest.
