Chapter 64 He is Weak

Chapter 64 He is Weak

CALEB’S POV

I rubbed my eyes, not once, but twice doubting my vision but it was same every time. Uncle Victor also jumped from the chair and distant himself from those two ugly looking women. The air was filled with rotten and sick scent that was coming off from them, I covered my nose, it was unbearable.

It was my first ever encounter with witches, yes, thanks to this ugly and fetid smell, I instantly recognized their identity before they needed to make any introduction.

They were small creatures with hunches on their back; their nose very prominent on their face and lips carved in sinister smiles. I turned to glance at Uncle Victor, he wasn’t afraid of them but had serious expressions, as if he was thinking deeply about something.

‘Where are you lost? They are witches’ I nudged him sharply and he nodded his head.

‘Look, we got lucky, at one place we had our two preys’ from these two women, one spoke, acting excited and happy. I took this moment to mind link Ethan and informed him of the situation, guiding him to bring the warriors to help in catching these two filthy witches.

They were laughing like fools when I shouted at them.

‘Drop the act and tell me what you are doing in my pack and how dare you breach the contract’ I snapped at them, using me Alpha power, but they weren’t influenced instead snorted and dragged their legs toward me, their eyes locked with mine.

‘So, you are Alexander’s kid, grew up into a fine man’ one brushed her hand on my shoulder, I yanked her hand, she didn’t mind, instead smiled.

‘Kiddo, the contract isn’t breach today, it was breach decades ago and they know this’ she pointed toward Uncle Victor and my mouth opened in shock, it was a betrayal.

‘You knew about them?’ I forced him to look at me, but he lowered his eyes in guilt.

‘Caleb, I wanted to tell you but was afraid of your reaction. You have no idea how much effort I had put today to come here only to tell you the truth, and every other information I was hiding from you.’ he pressed his hands on my shoulders, but I stepped back.

‘What are you hiding, tell me, you have been betraying me all this time?’ my voice lost in the end, the pain was too much to take, my uncle to whom I have always respected as a father figure kept lying to me.

‘I will tell you, I came here to open everything in front of you. I am tired of keeping it to me’ he placed his hand on his chest; I shook my head. This time I won’t get fooled by his act.

‘What do you think we are here for Victor?’ our commotion was interrupted by sharp and piercing voice, the witch who was quiet till now suddenly spoke, her eyes deadly. For a moment my mind went blank.

‘Why are you here?’ question came out of my mouth instinctively. The witch smiled, her eyes shining with evil.

‘To put end to it’ her words were scary, but I wasn’t afraid, Uncle Victor yelled.

‘No, I will not let this come to an end like this. I will tell him what happened in the past, and you can’t stop me’ my eyes burned, my ears ached as if blood was oozing out of it. I covered my ears in frustration.

‘I will kill you before you spill a single word out of your mouth’ right in front of my eyes, that witch raised her hand and fisted her finger before opening it and blew towards him and as my eyes followed, I felt suffocated, Uncle Victor stumbled back and fell on the floor, his skin turned pale. I crouched down.

‘Uncle?’ the fear of losing him, and the secret which he has been hiding from me. I shook him, desperately wanting to save him. Kaden groaned in rage and took over the control.

‘How dare you to hit him,” I shouted at her and used my sharp paw to scratch her face, but she vanished instantly and appeared distant from me, this all happened in a matter of seconds. She was using her magic, I wanted to attack again, but the muffled voice of Uncle Victor caused me to look at him and I saw him calling me, glancing at the witch who has wicked smile on her lips, I walked closer to him, he hold my hand and I shivered, his hand was cold as if blood in his veins has frozen.

‘Don’t waste time on them, go and search in Alexander’s files. You will understand the rest’ his breath breaking, his face was turning white and he was finding it difficult to speak but somehow, he finished, enough for me to understand what he meant.

‘Uncle?’ I held him by shoulder, but he smiled, resting his palm on my cheek.

‘Forgive me, my son’ and they came as his last words, he hiccups for last time and died in my arms. My eyes welled up, Kaden confirmed me that witch has killed his wolf, and he couldn’t take the pain of his wolf dying inside him. My jaw tightened and I turned towards them.

‘It’s always has been easy to kill you wolves, don’t know why you call yourself strong, when can’t even take a small blow of our magic’ she brushed her hands, mocking me, mocking us whole wolf kind. I pressed my teeth.

‘I will kill you’ I ran towards her but halted feeling a barrier tied around my leg.

‘Alpha!’ at the same moment, door was burst open and Ethan and Noah jumped into the room, calling out to me.

‘You have called your puppets!’ I screamed in annoyance; the barrier was getting tight as if a sharp knife was cutting my skin.

‘Alpha’ Ethan and Noah came close to me, they gave me support to stand, or else I might have fallen.

‘We have no intention to kill you; we just want him dead’ she pointed towards me and said to my beta and gamma. They hissed.

‘In your dreams, you can’t hurt our Alpha’ Ethan shielded me, she laughed loudly, as if she was enjoying the show, I might have tried to do something, but I was losing my strength, as if my energy was seeping out from my body, I was even barely keeping my eyes open.

‘Ethan, go back. I don’t want you to get hurt.’ I struggled to say those few words, he wasn’t obeying but I used the little bit of my strength to use my Alpha tone, forcing him to submit. I understood, she succeeded in her mission, I was losing my life slowly and gradually, Ethan must remain save, he should take over after me and take care of the pack and Lilith.

The thought of Lilith tightened my chest, finally, my fear wasn’t wrong. That was the reason I never wanted to mate her, she wouldn’t be able to take the loss of losing her mate, just like my mom. I don’t want to leave her miserable.

‘Ethan, take care of my Lilith after me’ as my eyes got heavy and my body gave up, I couldn’t feel Kaden anymore I slumped on the floor, I could hear Ethan and Noah crying out for me, my warriors struggling but they all were restricted by a magical wall, they couldn’t reach me.

‘Any last wish Alpha Caleb?’ I shook my head; I have no energy in me to even think.

‘I didn’t expect you to be so weak, your father was stronger, he fought and resisted, pitying him. He would be shameful of you’ her words ached, my dad was also killed like that, the thought brought tears in my eyes. At this point I realized, I was wrong, wrong from start. I always believed that being strong is enough but no, battles aren’t won by strength only, it needs a lot of other things to give you advantage over your enemy, I am late to understand this.

‘Since you have no wish, let’s make the death easy for you, consider it as my gift’ the same witch said sweetly, happy at her win. My eyes were barely open, I was panting, oxygen level getting lower in my body.

‘No! Caleb!’ witch used her last stroke on me, but before it could have struck me my body was engulfed by a warm and feminine body, I inhaled a faint scent of jasmine.

‘Lilith?’ my voice came out as a whisper, before darkness consumed me.
