Chapter 58 An Alliance
Chapter 58 An Alliance
LILITH’S POV
My head was feeling heavy, a throbbing pain, I wanted to relax but I was afraid any delay from my side could cause any harm and I would never want that. Seeing shocking and doubting expressions of my mate, I knew he wasn’t believing me, but I had to make him trust me.
‘Are you sure?’ he asked cautiously, I nodded my head.
‘Why would I lie or make some stupid story, I am not scared of you’ this wasn’t the way to convince him, don’t know what urged me to react that way, maybe the pain or the terrible feeling I had felt when I saw them and ran after them.
‘Okay fine, I believe you’ he raised is hand in surrender, good! He should trust his mate. I was in his room again, I wanted to argue but it wasn’t time, I had other matters to discuss first so put that for later. Pain was going away slowly, and I was glad for that.
‘We found you in the forest, your scent was weak and at one point it disappeared completely. I was..um, it was difficult to find you but then it clicked to me that you are white wolf and maybe have seen something unusual and following that way we were able to track you’ his words brought the limp in my throat, what if he failed to find me? I don’t want to die now, not in this misery. I wish to live a happy life with him, I can’t have a bad ending, my heart skipped a beat, I held his hand.
‘Thanks for finding me, believing in me and not avoiding me’ our eyes locked, his soft gaze was melting me.
‘We are mates Lilith’ his hoarse words drawn me towards him, he leaned towards me, as if we were bind by some sort of magic that was bringing us close.
‘Alpha Caleb, are you in there?’ If it was magic, it broke with the voice of my aunt and how happy I was to have her beside me as my only blood relative, I hated her most at this moment for interrupting us. Irene whined, she wants us to be touched by our mate, maybe a kiss would be fine for now I guess, but no we aren’t getting that too, I face palmed inwardly and looked at my mate, who inhaled a sharp breath and composed himself before letting her in.
‘Oh, my goodness, Lilith is awake. How are you feeling now?’ her care for me plastered a smile on my face and I nodded my head to assure her I was feeling better.
‘What brought you here again Margaret?’ his question left me a bit confused. Aunt looked at me thoughtfully.
‘Looking what had happened with Lilith, I am sure she didn’t get the chance to tell you that I have witch among the children I raised’ his muscles got tensed and he narrowed his eyes at me.
‘I was to tell you but than all that happened’ I said meekly, he sighed shaking his head. I felt pity for him, he is suffering a lot these days, because of me, rogues and his Alpha duties, I felt bad for my mate and wanted to comfort him, but it looks the most difficult thing to do for me.
‘I already had seen many unusual and unexpected things happening in my pack, so I won’t ask for now why you have a witch, but I am assuming that you haven’t come here to tell me just that, what is it that brought you here?’ he looks damn serious, my eyes flickered on my aunt who was hesitating, I motioned her to tell whatever it is and she nodded her head at me.
‘Her name is Willow, and she was exploring the pack house with others when she found the hints of witches in the house. She claims witches has passed through this place and I thought to aware you of this, it’s a bit concerning’
‘Witches were here too’ I jerked up and looked at my mate, only to find him looking at me.
‘Thanks for the information, Margaret. I will make a time to meet with all other pack members of yours, for now, you can take your leave.’ She glanced at us both and left the room, Caleb ensured that it was locked.
‘What’s your opinion?’
‘About what aunt said?’ he nodded and I sighed.
‘Don’t know, its too much to handle. When I met Willow and learn about her, I argued with aunt for why she has raised a witch and she justified her act by saying we don’t know what our enemies are capable of so its no harm in having an army of multi skilled people’ I shrugged my shoulders, for now my mind had gone mess, not getting its hand on one thing.
‘Well, she isn’t wrong for saying that we don’t know anything about our enemies, but what is this with witches now, you saw them in forest, does that mean, my pack is bewitched?’ my eyes widened with a thought that sparked in my mind.
‘What if, it is all a plot crafted by our enemies to trap us’ my voice law, barely audible, it’s good that he was sitting close to me, otherwise he would have missed that.
‘Trap? What do you mean?’
‘What you think could the be the reason of witches in the pack, it has been decided between wolves and witches to never invade each other’s property centuries back, besides, we may don’t know the real motive and strength of rogues, but one thing is for sure, they want us dead.’
‘You mean, rogues might be taking help from witches?’
‘I know, it sounds vague, but we can’t deny this possibility’ Caleb hummed.
‘What about Hazel?’ he asked me and I gave her a clear chit. She was no threat to our pack, Caleb lay down on the bed across my legs.
‘So, that was witches doing’ he commented.
‘Probably’ there was a long pause between us, creases on his forehead tells he was deeply engrossed in thoughts.
‘I received call from Oberon, while I was coming back from Council’ my hands trembled and eyes glued to his face.
‘Don’t tell me he knew about my shift’
‘He does’ he broke my hope instantly.
‘He wants to meet you and sign the alliance deal with me’ I scoffed, what a scumbag is this man, I muttered.
‘He indeed is’ my muttering was a bit louder, I groaned in annoyance.
‘Don’t get annoyed, I refused him for both, so don’t worry’ I eyed him and lay beside him just like he was, he gives a quick glance at my posture and turned to stare the ceiling.
