Chapter 42
Laura Brando narrating:
"Laura..." Aron said as he placed my breakfast plate on the table. Dressed once again in the ruthlessness of a mobster who thinks of business above all else, he sat down opposite me. "We need to talk."
"You're scaring me, Aron..." I spoke frightened in the hope that Aron would say a word of comfort, but he just sat back in his chair, running his fingers through his beard.
"Laura, I've told you all the truths surrounding our past, especially my cruel past. I just wanted to understand my feelings, I'd let you go if you didn't choose me, even though this presence has only increased my love for you..."
"Aron... What are you getting at?" I asked impatiently.
"I'd let you go if you didn't choose me... But you chose me, so I want to fulfill my agreement and make you a loved woman, make you feel love as much as your heart beats." Aron spoke, his countenance changing while mine was filled with emotion, the words clear from a heart that loves.
"What's this?" I asked, watching him pull a piece of paper out of his trouser pocket.
"A contract of freedom, where I promise to love you and protect you until I can no longer whisper that love. There are also some changes I want to make. First, we're moving to a normal country house with neighbors. Secondly, you'll have your freedom, but don't run away from me, if you don't want to love me anymore, tell me. Thirdly, the mafia will be Jason's responsibility, I'll only take care of matters that don't allow me to put you in danger..."
"So you know that Jason is alive?"
"Yes, I just can't feel the hatred coursing through me seeing how you care for him. "
Aron Curry narrating:
I was handing over all my chips to the woman I love, and to her love. I didn't mind losing the mobster's job, but it pained me to imagine losing Laura. Her eyes shone as my words gave her the confidence she deserved. I didn't care that I was cowering like mafiosi, I was being braver than when I defended my mafia, after all love requires courage, you have to be brave to love.
"Are you saying you're going to give me the freedom to leave? Walk the streets of Warsaw?"
"Yes, to start with today, I want you to go and choose the house where we're going to start over or begin our story. Of course, there will always be one man or another nearby for your safety... I can't erase the enemies I've made Laura."
"Why a contract?" Laura asked.
"Partly because I didn't know how to tell you my feelings if it wasn't a form. On the other hand, because contracts excite me. " I walked towards Laura, telling her.
My hands rested on the back of Laura's chair. Watching her unbutton my pants, seeing them above me, while her lips touched my erection with her hands, her cold tongue ran over me, in such a tasty way that I couldn't feel it without being overcome by the unconscious urge to ejaculate.
Laura Brando Narrating:
I loved the moans that Aron gave as he tried to suppress them. It was impossible for his eyes not to show his excitement. Putting him at ease, I pushed him away without letting him penetrate me, standing up provocatively. I loved feeling the power I had over Aron.
I couldn't deny that in front of the mirror, with the towel wrapped around my body, I felt like a plastic bottle floating on a river, lost, not knowing if it would be caught or found. Not knowing which direction the tide will take me. I hated the overwhelming feeling of having all the weight of my doubts crushing down on me, but Aron, even though he was a mobster, exuded a peace that haunted me.
"Will you let me drive too, boss?" Smiling, I said to Aron in an ironic tone.
"Yes... But not my car." Aron said in a tone that chilled me. "Go drive your own car!"
"Really?" I exclaimed incredulously. Seeing the Ferrari waiting for me in the back.
My hands slid across it, the smile impossible to contain, as I threw myself into Aron's arms.
Driving off down the road, I could feel the wind hitting my face, bringing a sense of freedom. Soon a car pulled up behind me, I knew it was one of Aron's men, I thanked him, I can't deny that I thanked him because that would be the way to kill the desire that predominated in me, as if I needed to punish myself for something, or rip the bandage off all my wounds, my heart pounded with the desire to see Edgar moving on with his life with my best friend. I wanted to see him with the hatred that inhabited me and ask myself why there is still a part of me that wants him, is it because of a foolish desire for revenge? Because I want to make up for the way I feel I've been a puppet in his hand? Or is it just a torturous envy of seeing him smoothing the belly that holds his son? Just to remind me that his hands held mine for seven weeks, until I became a mother with an empty lap.
In a matter of seconds, the wind of freedom became a cold, painful wind, locking the tears in my throat along with anger, at life and all the burdens it brought me, did I really deserve it? Could Aron's love really mend all the holes caused by an erosion of pain in my destiny?
Accelerating the car faster, I let the driver behind me keep up with me, and by a tremendous stroke of luck I could count on the real estate agency next to the apartment we lived in. As the streets ended and I got closer, my heart raced, whether it was fear or love, but my hands trembled as my vision blurred, how I longed to see him, how I hoped that seeing him would tear this pain out of me once and for all.
As soon as my feet hit the sidewalk in front of the entrance to the apartment where we lived, my eyes met Edgar's, bringing an avalanche that made me realize that when you bury a love, the pain of the good times remains and becomes strong enough to make you forget the hate. Little by little, I realized that I was burying the days when I questioned whether I loved him, the days when I was sure I was tired of begging for two minutes of conversation, and only the days when he arrived with the piece of cake I loved to strike up a conversation after a fight prevailed.
That's the problem, after three years of a fake relationship, not everything was so fake. It's hard to look at Edgar and remember the moments we created together, the ones of pain when he fell in with me, and the ones of joy that took me away from my hellish sadness. Edgar's eyes were worried as he bled the pain of losing our son, and I hate the fact that I can't remember with the same passion the nights I silently mourned this loss while he pretended not to hear me.
"Laura... What are you doing here?" Edgar asked me with pain in his eyes.
Mine were blurred, lost in the pain of the moments we had lived, while Aron's countenance shared space in my mind, preventing my hypocritical desire to hug him.
