Chapter 31 31
As if it weren’t enough to be the director’s son, now they associated him with the Omega.
“Hi.” Aidan reached Lois, removed his backpack, and sat beside her. He leaned his face toward her ear. “You need to relax, it’s just a class. You look scared and desperate.”
“With a familiar face, I’ll calm down.”
Despite his irritation, Aidan looked at Lois’s smile and how her fear eased ever since he sat next to her.
The girl fully relaxed almost by the end of class.
“We have two more classes together, Lois. Three in total, from Monday to Thursday.”
“That is definitely a relief.” She began gathering her things. “Shall we go to the next one together?”
“Sure.”
“Aidan, you already have a terrible reputation, and now you’re hanging out with the Omega? Don’t you see nobody wants her here? If you take her side, you’ll be against everyone.” That boy named Pete approached their desk as everyone was leaving and the professor was gone. “Being the mate of an Alpha shouldn’t give her these kinds of benefits, don’t you think? What kind of image does that give the university? Does your father give advantages to those with more relationships?” Lois looked at Aidan, realizing just now that the director was his father. “We’re going to file a formal complaint so she won’t be at this university, and if that can’t be done… so she won’t be in our classes. This degrades us. How far has this university fallen? It’s supposed to be the best, but this year it’s going downhill.”
Aidan didn’t answer. He wasn’t someone who caused problems, nor someone who reacted. He always stayed unnoticed and wouldn’t get involved in an argument when the topic mattered to so many people.
He wouldn’t fall into that game.
“Shall we go, Lois? I don’t want to be late to the next class too.”
He offered her his hand so she could take it, and Lois was about to, when a voice caught everyone’s attention.
“Lois!” Emmanuel ran into the classroom, desperate to see her. Lois felt the same—the despair ran through her veins. She stood up and jumped over the desk without thinking, Emmanuel caught her in his arms and she kissed him. She wouldn’t waste time like she did with Ezequiel; she went straight to his lips.
“I missed you so much.”
“I can tell.” He stared directly into her eyes, feeling so happy to have her close. “If we don’t see you tonight, we’ll sneak into your house. I’m too desperate to keep up with this agony, Lois.” The distance game was becoming too heavy. “I need you.” They kept kissing while everyone watched the scene, mesmerized.
At the back, Aidan picked up Lois’s things and walked past them.
“I’ll wait for you in the next class,” he said while passing by.
Emmanuel noticed he was carrying Lois’s things, recognizing them because he had demanded Ezequiel describe her from head to toe the second they met. He quickly grabbed Aidan’s hand, stopping him.
“Where do you think you’re going with her things?” Emmanuel asked, his expression turning serious—too much like Ezequiel’s.
“He’s my classmate, we know each other from somewhere else.”
“Somewhere else?!” The nosy ones didn’t move away, wanting to find out what would happen. They were full of questions—just like Emmanuel.
“Where else do you know each other from?” Emmanuel asked, still gripping Aidan’s hand. Aidan rolled his eyes, now realizing he was attracting attention too, thanks to this small jealousy scene Emmanuel was making. He wanted to go to the second class and, in any case, wouldn’t answer anything. He didn’t owe Emmanuel explanations.
“From somewhere else,” Lois repeated with the same answer. The twins knew nothing about her illness, nor did they seem to know about her parents. “Emmanuel, we saw each other the other day when I was at my medical check-up.”
Immediately, Emmanuel released his hand, his mood shifting in a second.
“I’m sorry,” he said to Aidan. “Are you friends?”
“No,” Aidan answered.
“Yes,” Lois said at the same time. She had to hold on to the only person she knew in that whole class. “Well, we’re classmates. But we’ll be friends.”
“See you… in the next class,” Aidan repeated, leaving with Lois’s things.
Emmanuel glanced around at all the eyes watching them, and people immediately began to scatter, leaving the two of them alone.
“Was it that bad?” He hugged her. “I wish we could be in the same class, but we can’t. You chose everything opposite of us. We just found out you like medicine. And that Aidan… I don’t like him. He’s the director’s son.”
“He can be my friend.”
“He can. But I doubt it. He doesn’t mix with anyone.”
“Just like you two?”
“Sort of. I’ll take you to your next class. I don’t want you to be late.”
“Emmanuel, I missed you a lot—both of you,” she confessed before giving him another kiss.
“And we missed you. We’ll see you after your class. Did Eze tell you to talk to the director?”
“Yes, I will at the end.”
“It might work, and we’ll be closer. Do you already admit it’ll be hard to stay away?” She blushed, hiding her desperation at knowing she’d have to part from them again to attend class.
“I admit it. I never thought it would be this hard.”
“You can always change your mind and…” Accept that distancing was pointless, change her mind, take them both, act like normal mates and stop all the nonsense that only came from her.
But she didn’t miss them enough to change her mind.
Not yet.
“No, Emmanuel.”
“She has to go.” Ezequiel walked into the classroom too, pulling Lois’s hand. “She’s going to be late.” Emmanuel grabbed her other hand, and between both of them, alone, her body temperature changed, heat concentrating in two points.
Her chest.
That hollow space between her legs.
Desire flooded the room, and her mates felt it. Everyone’s mouth went dry, also wanting Lois. Emmanuel let go of her hand but Ezequiel didn’t. He wanted to be careful—no one knew he was also Lois’s mate, and clearly she didn’t want anyone to know, but this time Lois’s desire was too strong and mixed with her nerves. He squeezed her hand softly and pulled her, Emmanuel shut the door, and Lois looked at them both.
It was a classroom. It was the university. They couldn’t.
Or could they?
With such overwhelming desire, Lois couldn’t even speak. She waited for one of them to say something, to react, to… intervene and bring back the sanity already slipping away.
Not much resistance was possible when both were there—especially after accepting them.
It had been a matter of time.
And after all the stress of the first class, Lois was exhausted—resistance impossible.
“Lois,” Ezequiel was completely gone in that moment. “If you’re feeling bad, what if you skip the second class and we take you home?”
“I feel bad, I have to skip the second class and all the ones left. Could you take me home?”
Everything was lost—only desire remained.
Lois claimed to feel unwell, and Dexter allowed the twins to take her home, since her mate was there; nothing would happen to her.
And that’s how Lois skipped the rest of her classes, arriving home accompanied by the two Alphas.
There was no turning back—sin had been tasted and had become her addiction.
They were her addiction.
