Chapter 15 15

Chapter 15 15
POV EMMANUEL
I had to wash my hands.
“This is your first infraction this year, Mr. Emmanuel.”
This year. He glanced at the bodies on the floor, visibly relieved to see they were alive.
“No, of course not. Excuse me, but no. I didn’t do anything.”
He pointed at the bodies at my feet.
“And what about that hole in the window that’s still smoking?”
He pointed behind me. The headmaster was suddenly right beside me. He grabbed my hands and squeezed them, pressing my bloody fingers tightly together.
“Have you forgotten the rules?”
He traced lines over my stained hands.
“You cannot use advantages the others do not possess. This was not a clean fight. And in any case—fights are prohibited. I will take the Omega with me. Her arrival has been a source of constant disturbance, complaints, and serious danger to her life. Miss Lois, come here.”
“Shit.”
Where are you when I need you, Ezequiel?!
Don’t do anything stupid, Emmanuel. Don’t.
I swear, under normal circumstances I could control myself—perfectly.
But this wasn’t normal.
He wanted to take Lois.
“Don’t touch her,” I suggested.
I placed one bloody hand on Lois’s shoulder and the other over her eyes.
“She comes with me.”
“She is not property, Mr. Emmanuel. Remove… that.”
“Lois is coming with me.”
“She must leave university grounds. She cannot remain here, and her companion no longer requires her services. The Omega is leaving.”
“Fine. Not a problem. She’ll be off campus as soon as we have time to walk out.”
My house was outside the campus.
“Just step aside and let us go.”
“I cannot allow that.”
And that was when everything got worse—much worse.
My father was the grandson of Christine and Troy. To keep it brief, Christine was one of the ten she-wolves who brought order to the world of wolves—our world—facing the many wars that erupted between species, mostly fueled by humans and their desire to rule everything. Troy, strangely enough, was a vampire. Yes, a vampire and a she-wolf.
The point here is that the ten she-wolves possessed exceptional powers far beyond being simple wolves capable of shifting into a fierce beast ruled by instinct.
The ten she-wolves were far more than that.
Christine had two wonderful abilities. One was the power to alter her body at will, a crucial skill during the war because she could adopt any appearance—if she had seen it even once, she could replicate it flawlessly. But that wasn’t the most incredible part.
She possessed the power of the sun.
Her true ability was rooted in that.
It was vast. And although my grandfather didn’t inherit that gift—he turned out to be a hybrid, unlike his father who, despite being a vampire, could wield his mate’s power—my father did. He inherited Christine’s incredible ability. And so did I. That’s why, even if only at a much lower level, I possessed that power too.
I dissolved the tiny fireball resting on my shoulder and relaxed, removing the hand that had been covering Lois’s face.
“Lois, could you tell the director you’re coming with me?” I asked.
She turned her face toward me, her skin stained with blood from my dirty hand.
“I—I’m going with him, sir,” she said clearly. That might be enough for the director. Her tearful eyes drifted toward the bodies on the floor, and I held her face so she wouldn’t look at them. That was the least of it—they deserved it.
“I’m going with Emmanuel.”
“You must leave now. And yes, Mr. Emmanuel, this counts as your first infraction of the year.”
I had hoped he wouldn’t count it, since they had tried to hurt Lois.
I only defended her—my mate.
She was my mate.
And after one infraction, there was no second chance—you were expelled from Liberty University, no matter who you were.
I took her hand gently, guiding her forward. We passed her suitcase, and I grabbed it along with her bag, leaving the bodies behind. The director would have to deal with them—they weren’t dead, but they’d be out of campus for a while.
“Can you walk?” I asked as we descended the stairs.
“I want… to get out. I need to get out of here.”
“Don’t worry, we’re leaving now. But it’ll take a while on foot. Do you want to get on my back?”
“Please.”
I lifted her onto my back, and she held on to me the entire way, until we left the campus and reached my house.
“Emmanuel… do you feel it too?” she asked, her voice sending a shiver down my spine. We were already home, yet she still clung to my back.
“It has to be a mistake, right?”
“If there’s anything that isn’t a mistake, Lois… it’s this. I feel it too.”
I helped her down and stood in front of her. I fixed her messy hair and pressed a kiss to her nose, hiding my blood-stained hand behind me.
“You have no idea how much I wanted to see you, and now this happens.”
“But… it has to be a mistake. I already found my mate.”
“It’s not a mistake, Lois. Not even close. Tell me something… would you accept me as your mate?”
“Emmanuel… I’m leaving tomorrow. And why would you want someone like me as a mate? I’ll accept it if you reject me—I won’t take it to heart.”
“Reject you? Are you crazy? I’m beyond happy that it’s you. It couldn’t be more perfect, Lois. You’re… perfect. Accept me. Now.”
I took her hand and placed it on my chest. I wanted her to feel how wild my heart was racing, the happiness coursing through me, the need I felt.
“I… I’m leaving tomorrow.”
She pulled her hand from my chest and walked into the house.
Maybe I could understand how she felt. She had been rejected once, and she likely couldn’t believe what was happening now.
Time.
She needed time to accept this.
The adrenaline of the night and the shock of our reunion.
The best thing I could do was give her space.
I was still stunned by how everything had unfolded, but deeply grateful that I’d found Lois at that exact moment—because things could have ended horribly for her, so helpless in their hands.
