Lily of the Valley VS Thorn Rose
Could Layla just watch herself be eliminated?
No. Absolutely not. After all, she wanted to learn more and more in this new era. And one thing she deeply realized the longer she stayed in the interstellar, it was all about the survival of the fittest.
With a jump in her fingers and the humming inside the cockpit, two commands were jointly issued on the operation panel at the speed of light. The mecha charged up and kicked heavily towards the wrist of the opponent’s mecha.
Kang—
The sound of metal alloys striking each other resounded amid the chaos.
Thorn Rose’s mecha’s wrist was kicked into a crack and the light knife slashed deeply at the foot that Layla kicked out at the same time, the shell broke, exposing the fragile circuit.
“It’s interesting…” Thorn Rose failed to get a single blow, retracted the blade, and shook her wrist as if she was feeling the severity of the injury.
What a close fight…
On the other hand, Layla rolled over on the ground, looked at the yellow light on the control panel and frowned slightly, completely at a disadvantage. It must be done quickly.
Thinking in this way, she entered the command to pop out the light knife between the two arms of the mecha, and exerted force on the soles of her feet, stabbing Thorn Rose that was still adjusting.
Although Layla had never used double swords when she used NS-01 before, she had watched and played an online game in her past life. She never would have thought that those seemingly boring games she used to play whenever she did not work on weekends would save her life right now!
Recalling the moves she had seen before and imagining herself as the substitute instead of the player she used to play before, Layla turned her gesture. A howling whirlwind gradually formed between the two swords and countless white shadows expanded and grew bigger.
Some familiar people in the audience could not help but exclaimed: “What the fuck is that?”
“The profound meaning of swordsmanship!” A swordsmanship fanatic answered in a daze.
“Could it be someone from the top military families or the aristocratic families of the Empire?”
“What are you shocked about? The swordsmanship of the challenger is indeed very strong, but don’t forget, the other side is Thorn Rose. Ten swords can scratch the number one of the arena.”
“…That’s true…”
And just as the audience expected, Thorn Rose did not waver, she was just a little surprised. “Hey… is the little girl from the Cross Family?” The woman was speaking calmly, but her hand movements did not stop.
Facing the almost unsolvable sword technique from the online games of the past, Thorn Rose did not take the shortcuts like Layla once did.
“The origin of the world is all in one knife,” said a hoarse female voice.
At that moment, the atmosphere in the arena suddenly changed. In the dense light and shadow, the knife rose and fell.
Layla did not even understand the very simple knife that attacked her and the next thing she knew, she was sent flying with one blow from Thorn Rose.
After this operation, Layla was deeply aware of the gap in terms of strength between them. She could not attack from a distance and she knew she would lose if she chose close combat against Thorn Rose.
Pursing her lips, Layla realized how she slacked this time. Maybe because she was in a department wherein combat was not the focus and she was hailed as a rare genius wherever she went, Layla felt that the time she spent in the Garbage Star was so far away. This encounter with Thorn Rose made her realize how far she was from the true powerhouses in this world.
When others were growing rapidly, while the outside world was surrounded by powerful enemies, Layla was standing still.
‘Layla, is this all you have?’ Layla asked herself.
She automatically answered. ‘No. Never.’
There was no faster speed than her opponent. There was no skill richer than her opponent. However, there was one thing that she only had.
She was a healer who was good in data.
Layla hummed a calming tune to soothe her tense nerves as she squatted in the corner of the field, her eyes were dark, and everything disappeared in her vision.
All external appearances were abstracted into rows of data streams by her. There was no sword, no mecha, no spectators, and no opponent.
In Layla’s world, there was only her humming and her data.
Armed with her deep understanding with data paired with the ever-changing tone of her humming, Layla wanted to find a breakthrough and deal a fatal blow to her opponent.
The aura of poor technology disappeared from the audience’s perspective. Although the person was still in it, everyone could not feel her existence for some reason.
As for Thorn Rose, she instinctively sensed something was wrong, and she could only vaguely catch her position, but could not accurately know Layla’s position. This feeling was very uncomfortable. The situation was changed and now it was her turn to be passive.
As for Layla, her mental power surged like crazy weeds, and she quickly rushed into the surrounding data, running with all her strength to find the fatal point.
Free, powerful…
Layla felt that she had grasped some inspiration. Suddenly, a blue light flashed.
Layla suddenly jumped out a like a leopard that had been dormant for a long time and rushed towards the target from all directions with her mental power like wild grass.
Ka—
There was a slight crackling sound.
Cracks appeared out of thin air on the energy core and it lost its luster after a few clicks, turning into a useless stone. The ten-meter high mecha suddenly lost its support and fell to the ground.
\[The game is over! Congratulations on your victory.\]
\[Your current points are 652 points, ranking first.\]
Thorn Rose’s mecha fell to the ground and the game ended.
The two parties walked out of the cabin and two figures shook hands and saluted. The other one was tall and the other one was petite. It could only be vaguely seen that the figure belonged to Thorn Rose was stronger and more powerful looking while the other peson was a little thinner and shorter.

On the second week of the new semester, early in the morning was the shooting general education class.
Auxiliary Department had always been mixed with mecha and general subjects and this led to a historical problem—auxiliary department felt that mecha subjects were brutal and violent while mecha department thought that auxiliary subjects were weak and were not really needed for survival outside. Hence, when the two met, they would always have a small friction.
It was the same for this class. Although the class bell hadn’t rang yet, but the people of Class 01 of the auxiliary department gathered at the training ground early, chatting enthusiastically.
“I really don’t know what the academy is thinking. We don’t need to drive mechas, why should we learn to shoot?”
“I can’t even run 1,000 meters and I still practice shooting? This is so stupid.”
