Chapter 19 — Paying for Your Sins

The real Cassandra has finally awakened. She was confined at the Makati Hospital after she got shot by Kent for self-defense. She was struggling from being chained and keep screaming inside like crazy Carolina too.

"Let me out!” she shouted until two police officers came.

“Mrs. Wilson, it's time for you to get back to jail! You will be facing multiple cases and you will be imprisoned for ten years!” Lieutenant Mikael said while they unchained her and replaced it with handcuffs.

"No, I won't go with you. You can't take me to jail! I'm innocent!” she cried out.

But police officers didn't listen to her. They put her in the wheelchair and put her inside the police car. While Cassandra is arrested by the police to pay for her sin, Lucy is still unconscious.

“How is Lucy?” Kent's brother Gale asks him.

Eloisa went to the supermarket with Austin. She helps the child cope up with the trauma he has been suffering from Cassandra's assault.

Kent sadly shook his head as a no. His eyes were covered with eye bugs as an indication of having a lack of sleep.

"I don't know if she will wake up. I'm starting to feel hopeless, Gale. What should I do? Cassandra is now paying for her sins inside prison. She's alive but my wife is still here unconscious!” Kent cried out again.

Gale doesn't know how to comfort his brother because even he felt sad about Lucy's condition. He had been with Lucy for almost a year after saving her and he still cares for her but as his sister-in-law.

He pressed Kent's shoulders and told him to think positive.

“We just need to be patient. I know Lucy is a strong woman and she can survive this. Let's just pray for her fast recovery." Gale said to his brother to encourage him.

Kent smiled at Gale.

"Thank you. Yeah, your right. Lucy can get through this. I knew it. Ahem, any news about Cassandra's case? I told detective Damian to sentence her to death!” Kent uttered as his eyes diminished.

“I heard they sentenced her to ten years. It's okay since she's getting older. I heard her husband Val is being a good example inside prison. Let the law handle it," Gale told him.

Kent took a deep sigh.

"Just focus your energy on your wife's recovery,” he added.

"I know but I can't forgive her if something bad will happened to Lucy! I swear I will kill her myself!” his eyes glared at the nonentity.

Five Years Ago Lucy POV:

I never thought my life would be this miserable. The only love of my life left me, and he married my best friend Eloisa, who fooled me too.

Then he came back like nothing happened, seduce med, and got me pregnant. He and Eloisa betrayed me. They took my child and accused me of a crime I didn't commit while they live in the States as a happy family.

Today was my first day in prison. I was scared and my whole body was shaking. I was walking with two bodyguards beside me. I was handcuffed like a criminal, which I wasn't.

“Die! You're not allowed to be here! Whores aren’t welcome in this prison! Die!” I heard everyone cursing at me.

I tried to stay strong for the sake of my child Austin. I am breathing because of him. I tightened my jaw trying to hold back my tears. I won't cry in here. I was born brave, and my dad once told me that if anyone looks down on me, I will fight as long as I am breathing. For the sake of my dignity and being innocent, I will endure this.

"Fuck you, all!” I yelled at them and spit on them.

As we reach my designated cell, they took my handcuff and pushed me inside. One of my inmates kicks me on my belly. I just gave birth to my son and my body still weak. I groan in pain.

“Hey, get up! What is your name?” the chubby one with a scar on her face asked me.

I guess she's the bravest among them.

I gently help my body from the floor while holding my painful tummy. Why are they doing this to me? They don't even know me. As if they know me so they have no right to judge me.

I looked up and narrowed my eyes on her.

“Lucy, Lucy is my name!” I softly said.

I was surprised when someone moves forward and helps me get away from them.

"Hey, leave her alone! Come." She was the one that saves me.

She's older than me. Maybe fifteen years, but she was still strong at her age.

"Thank you!” I said and we became friends on my first day.

“Hi, just call me Cassandra,” she said with her innocent smile.

"Hi, call me Lucy," I said, and we became friends.

Two Days Later Someone called her name. She has a visitor. I envy Cassandra because someone came to check her unlike me, no one came even Gregory and the man I met at the hospital. I thought he was a good friend, but I can't blame him, maybe I am not someone to be treated as a VIP in his life.

“Miss Wilson, you have a visitor. Your husband is here." I left and went to the bathroom after the assigned police told the name of her visitor.

Lucy has no idea that she was Carolina and not Cassandra.

Carolina tried to copy her sister's voice, attitude, behavior, and the way she talks and projects to anyone. Her sister Cassandra always telling her not to get caught and she ordered her husband Val to check her once a week.

Carolina was different. She's crazy. She was diagnosed with a mental problem which is known as schizophrenia. She loves copying her big sister because she wants to be just like her.

Carolina behaves to see Val in the visitor's room. He looks impatient while waiting for her. He always checking his wristwatch when she came inside.

"Val", she called his name.

Val shifted his eyes towards her but instead of checking if she was okay or not, he slaps her.

“What did you do? I'm doing my best to be Cassandra. I am a good girl,” she asked him while cupping her red cheeks.

Val took a deep breath before he spoke.

"I'm sorry. I just make sure that you still remember what to do right? If you wanted to be your sister, you have to think just like her. Did you befriend her?” he asked Carolina.

She slowly nods her head. Val's lips are drawn a wide grin after hearing it.

He tapped Carolina on her head like a kid.

“Very good. If you keep behaving like that then I and your sister will tour you around the world." Val promises her and Carolina smiled in happiness.

"Thank you. You know I'm a good friend too. Sometimes, I started to like Lucy,” she whispered, and Val heard it.

He quickly grabs her arms and pressed them tightly. His eyes widened.

“I told you we had a plan, right? Do you want your sister and me can't avenge your niece's death?” he looks mad at her.

Carolina quickly changes her expressions. She acts like Cassandra again.

"Of course, I will make friends with her. I will help my sister Cassandra get inside her ex-lover Kent Oliver Stone's life,” she replied.

Val set a sneering gaze at her.

After Five Years.

Cassandra POV:

I hope my sister is doing fine inside the prison. She's my only way to distract the police while I am free roaming around the city.

I heard that Eloisa, Kent's wife sometimes visits their company. Her dad was the one who put me in jail. I need to kill him If I have the chance.

I saw Eloisa going inside with her dad. She looks happy and contented. What a precious daughter for her but how could he let his business partner, Mr. Stone, do about the killing plan for Mam Dorothy. That old neighbor was very dear to me. If Carolina wasn't there, maybe I was the one suffering in prison but I'm glad I have a twin who's willing to do everything for me even risking her life.

I had my knife inside my pocket. I followed them in the elevator. We were three of us and I am wearing a huge hoody.

"Dad, maybe next month, Kent, Austin and I will come back. I will call you," she informed her dad.

Mr. Sherlock sigh and not so happy about it.

"Why not stay there? What if Kent will find out what you did to Lucy and her dad? He will leave you,” her dad told her.

Eloisa rolled her eyes at her dad.

“I won't let him know. I will do everything to keep my secret from him,” she said, and Cassandra knew why they left for the U.S.

She set a smirk.

“I will do everything to let Kent know all your secrets, Eloisa,” she whispered in her ears before walking ahead of them from the elevator.
