Chapter Seventeen – Montgomery
Kaden threw another toolbox into the back bed of his truck and turned to glance at Mont with a serious look.
He’d decked himself out in Wranglers, boots, and a cotton button-down. Mont felt it was too hot to be wearing it but didn’t feel like fighting over his clothes.
Kaden spit onto the ground, taking his hat off to run his palm over his sweaty hair. “I’m going to pick up those horses for you to tame. I should be back tomorrow afternoon. I’ll have to spend the night. Can you look over everything for me this weekend?”
“No worries. Go and be done with it.”
Kaden turned to get into the driver’s seat of his dually. “Keep an eye on Kathryn and Abigail for me?”
It looked like it took a lot for Kaden to ask, so Mont didn’t give him a hard time. “Sure thing.”
Kaden nodded and climbed into the driver’s seat, the truck coming to life after a few short minutes. The sun sunk closer to the hills, and Mont had to get his house in order for their plans the next day. It’d been a long week waiting on Saturday to roll around again and making sure everything at the ranch was in good condition so Kaden would leave.
He hadn’t been to the store lately, so he closed up the ranch and headed to the store since he’d already taken Swayze home for the day. It’d been torture watching her eat at lunch, her slender neck exposed, and that ponytail. He wanted to grab it and whisper things he’d never wanted to say to anyone in her ear.
She’d had his head gone.
It was official.
Mont went inside, picking up some cheap wine and some snacks for after the pizza. He had gotten out of seeing Mrs. Eileen and headed back to his truck quickly. He loaded his sacks, shut the door, and stopped when he noticed a purple flower tucked into the windshield wiper of his truck.
There were trees all in the woods with those flowers, so there was no telling where it came from. Though the feeling of someone watching him itched down his back, so he did a quick glance but saw no one.
When had he become so paranoid?
He started his truck, pulled out, and headed home. He had a hell of a lot of work to do before Saturday.
***
Ryker sat on the edge of his seat at the local movie theater. Who knew superheroes were his favorite thing?
Swayze rested her head against Montgomery’s shoulder, slowly eating her popcorn and laughing at Ryker every time The Hulk came on the screen.
When the credits finally ran, Ryker began to cry, which earned laughter from the other people in the theater.
“Where did they go?” he asked.
“We will get the movie when it comes out,” Swayze said.
Ryker poked his lip out and held onto Mont’s shoulder until they got to the truck.
Mont had a hard time keeping his hands to himself in the theater. He felt like a teenager, trying to wait until a dark scene so he could steal a kiss.
Mont laughed once they were down the road.
“What’s so funny?” Swayze asked, looking over at him. “Thank you for the car seat, by the way.”
They were nearly late for the movie because Swayze refused to go at first, feeling guilty that he’d bought Ryker a car seat. He debated that it was really for Ryker and he loved it, and finally, she got into the car.
He’d been glad because she looked so sweet in that little sundress, a pair of boots, and tanned legs. His fingers twitched to slide against the inside of her thigh and say forget the movie all together.
“You’re welcome. I just can’t wait to get underneath that dress tonight.”
Swayze’s cheeks reddened, and she tucked away a stray piece of hair. “Believe me, it’s all I’ve been thinking about.”
Montgomery felt his resolve slipping, and part of him wanted to drop Ryker off at Abigail’s and go have Swayze all night long. He may talk slow, but he knew that being with Swayze meant being with Ryker.
Mont pulled into his driveway, hurrying out to help Swayze out of his truck and grab a singing Ryker.
“The pizza is on its way,” Mont said once they got into the house. “I ordered it when we left.”
Swayze dropped Ryker off in the living room, giving Mont a look he could only take as need.
The pizza arrived within fifteen minutes, and after Ryker’s third slice, Montgomery took him toward the bathtub. Swayze stopped him with a hand to his forearm. “I’ve got this.”
“Go sit down, Momma.”
Swayze examined the situation for a few moments before Mont watched her walk back down the hallway.
Mont gave Ryker a bath, keeping a close eye on the clock, realizing those few short minutes were driving him crazy. He dried him off and dressed him in an old shirt of his, laughing as Ryker waddled down the hallway toward his mom. Swayze laughed, sat down her glass of wine, and grabbed him into a bear hug. “You ready to lay down and watch TV?”
“Paw Patrol!”
Swayze sat him down in a pallet that Mont had made him and flipped through the channels until she found something he’d like.
The ten minutes it took for Ryker to fall asleep had felt like a millennium.
His soft snores filled the room, and Swayze downed her wine in one gulp, turning to face Mont as he lifted her up to the counter and stepped between her legs, her dress pushed up against her hips.
One palm grasped her neck, and the other rested on the zipper that would loosen her dress in the back. “I’ve wanted to take this off of you all day,” he drawled.
Swayze turned her eyes down and smiled.
Montgomery felt it in his toes. He’d be damned if he didn’t see that smile for the rest of his life.
“This has been a long time coming, cowboy,” she whispered.
Montgomery would be lying if he didn’t say he’d thought about how that day would go since the moment he saw her at Megan’s. Mont kissed her again, this time letting his hands wander, pulling the zipper down until he could feel the smooth skin of her back.
Mont felt big, hovering over Swayze’s small body as she tugged at the front of his button-down shirt.
“All right,” he said, moving his mouth to her jawline. “I’ll take my clothes off; you can calm down.”
Swayze laughed, pulling his shirt until he lifted his arms and let her roll them over his impressive biceps. He felt pride inside as she looked at him from eyes to waist, a small smile tugging at her mouth.
He’d imagined her hard exterior had kept most men from getting this far since her husband died. He wondered if she had been with any other man since then. Something told him nobody had touched her, which made him want her all the more.
Montgomery knew he’d begged and pleaded for a date, he knew that she had wanted to slap the shit out of him once or twice, but there they were. He’d finally broken her down enough for her to enjoy him. Trust him.
“You don’t have to ogle me,” he whispered, leaning forward with each hand on either side of her. Wasn’t she a sight to see?
Her dress falling off her shoulders and hair a mess only added to the simple beauty that was Swayze.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said.
Swayze leaned forward and kissed him; two palms rested against his scruffy cheeks. “Don’t make me wait anymore,” she said. “Take me to your bed.”
He picked her up underneath her bottom, letting her wrap her legs around his waist before he carried them toward the hallway. “I wouldn’t be Montgomery King if I didn’t do what my lady asked of me.”
Swayze chuckled. “So, I’m your lady now? I better get a shirt.”
Mont laughed, his baseball cap landing behind them on the floor, but he didn’t turn back to get it. Especially since Swayze ran her palms into his hair, making him groan.
He carried her toward his bed, leaving the door open in case Ryker woke up.
The soft plush comforter engulfed her. She stretched her arms above her head and started to pull her dress from her shoulders. Mont couldn’t move from his place, looking over her, watching as she dragged the fabric down her stomach and over the curve of her hips.
The smooth planes of her tanned belly clenched as he dragged his hungry eyes up and down her.
Swayze had always been beautiful to him, but seeing her so exposed was something different entirely.
“You’re perfect,” he whispered.
Montgomery slowly moved over toward Swayze, letting the moonlight guide his way.
Swayze’s kiss was soft and smooth, lingering over his tongue like a dance that set him on fire. He’d been kissed before, but the unusual pace of hers had his anxiety up.
He found himself hungry, delving into her mouth like it held oxygen he needed to survive. Swayze’s legs wrapped tightly around his hips, but her sudden palms against his chest stalled him.
“What’s the matter?”
“I’m nervous.”
Montgomery felt relief, knowing he wasn’t the only one. “Don’t be. It’s just me. You know me, Demi,” he whispered, lowering his mouth to her neck. “Demetria Swayze,” he whispered again. “I’m going to love all those nerves away.”
Montgomery bit the delicate skin of her neck and waited for her soft sigh before he started a trail down her chest, over the top of her bra, and down her stomach.
Montgomery stopped at the top of her soft, gray panties, and glanced up at her. She stared at him with wide, blue eyes, worry and anxiety written all over her face, which made him want to wipe it away even more.
With one finger hooked in the waist of her underwear, he drew it down her legs, sitting back on his to pull them all the way off of her feet.
Good Lord…
Swayze’s cheeks turned red as he eyed her, but he didn’t give a damn anymore. Smiling, he crawled slowly until he hovered over her, her bare legs pressed tightly against his sides.
The build up for that moment had been growing since the second he’d seen her standing in that rundown diner. He’d wanted to be gentle with her, show her how calm he could be, but the way she grabbed the nape of his neck and brought him down, changed the patience he had gathered.
It slipped like he’d slipped closer between her legs, loving the way her hips moved against him, wishing he didn’t have to break away from her mouth to get out of his pants.
Suddenly he pulled back, unzipped his jeans, and stood to pull them off. He left his boxers on as he gathered a condom from the bedside table.
He tore it with his teeth, knowing he hadn’t lost his touch.
“Ready?”
Swayze lifted her gaze and nodded.
Mont pulled down his boxers, rolled the condom onto his length, and felt the tension in the room grow. Bending down, he took her mouth with his again, steadying her head with a tight grip on her neck.
“I’m dying for this,” she whispered.
Montgomery kissed her deeply as he slowly crawled back in between her legs, and with one fluid motion, he filled her, her body and hands tightening against him. She broke free from his kiss and moaned softly.
It was pent-up, dirty, and sudden. She clutched to him, moving her hips against his steady ones in a way that made Mont want to please her so much more.
“Baby,” he whispered, leaning down to suck her soft skin into his mouth.
She cried out as he reached down to touch her clit. “Please…”
Mont didn’t let Swayze finish her sentence. He brought her legs over his shoulders and pushed deeper and faster. She whimpered, clutching the sheets beneath them, locking eyes with him, and it turned his stomach upside down.
A vision, she was.
Long, dark hair and light eyes.
Dropping her legs, he buried himself deeper, meeting her opened mouth with his. He kissed her like he had wanted to every time he saw her, taking control of her mouth and loving that she returned the aggression. She loved this like he did.
Montgomery slowed his pace and grabbing a fist full of hair, he brought his mouth to her ear. “You fit me like a glove,” he whispered. “Do you know how good you feel?”
Swayze moved her hips. “More.”
“Get on all fours,” he whispered.
Excitement flashed across her face. Fan of doggy style, he’d keep that in mind for next time. Swayze hopped around, resting her chest and face against the covers, her bottom perched high in the air.
Montgomery could look at her from that angle for the rest of his life. He ran his big palm along his jawline. He’d die a happy man if he got to see that every day.
“Mercy,” he whispered.
Bending down, he blew against her, licking her from front to back, making her moan. The pink flesh was swollen from him and felt even tighter as he slid in from behind her.
“Oh…I’m not gonna make it,” he chuckled. Easing his way in, he slid deeper, gripping her hips and guiding himself into her like he owned the place.
He wished he did.
One thing at a time, Montgomery.
Swayze’s hips lifted and fell against him in a hurried motion. She wanted to come so bad, he felt it. He reached around her, touching her sensitive place, and she began to shiver with each thrust.
A cry broke from her lips, and her top half collapsed against the bed in exhaustion. He wanted to laugh at her lying there, but if it’d been that long for him, he’d have his ass lying beside her.
Grabbing a handful of her hair, he brought her ear closer to his mouth. “You down for the count already?”
Swayze chuckled. “I warned you. It’s been a long time.”
Montgomery kissed her neck. “A couple more minutes, and I’ll join you. You can wake me up anytime during the night. I’m game, always for you.”
Swayze buried her head into the mattress, and he rode her until he felt himself release into the condom.
He discarded the rubber and pulled Swayze toward him in his bed, sighing as she twined her legs with his.
“I’ll get better,” she said. “A couple more times, and I’ll be back to normal.”
Montgomery kissed the top of her head. “I’ll loosen you up, and then I can really make you come. You want me to be a dirty cowboy? I’ll ride you whenever you want me to.”
Swayze laughed. “You’ll wear a hat? Lasso?”
“If that wets your whistle,” he whispered.
“Don’t ever say that again.”
“I’ll even put on ‘Pony’ by Ginuwine and dance like those stripper guys.”
Swayze laughed. “If you ever run out of business at the ranch, I’m sure that can be a backup.”
Montgomery rolled over, taking her underneath him. “You know that wasn’t what I really wanted to do.” He laughed. “I mean it was, but I wanted to be rough with you.” He leaned closer to her ear. “Really fuck you.”
Swayze grinned. “You’ll have plenty of time to live up to your promise because I want that too. I need it.”
“Umm,” he whispered, nipping her bottom lip. “Tomorrow?”
Swayze tilted her head. “If you dance to ‘Pony’ first.”
Montgomery laughed. “Don’t tempt me, Swayze. I’ll come out to the ranch in a speedo and dance for all of you.”
“That’d be a sight to see, I imagine. Maybe let’s not. Kaden already thinks I’ve brought enough drama to your family.”
“Nah, well, we’ll start our own family.”
Worry passed across Swayze’s face for a brief moment but disappeared. Montgomery figured he’d pushed it but knew that’s what he wanted.
What was she so worried about anyway?
***
Something startled Mont awake, and he felt panic as he opened his eyes. Swayze screamed beside him, frantically searching the sheets for something he didn’t know.
“Swayze,” he said. “Calm down; what’s wrong?”
Swayze looked right at him, but her eyes were far away. “Ryker, where is he? Lock the doors? Did you check the doors?”
Mont tried to make sense of her babbling. Getting up, he walked around to the other side of the bed and focused on her. “Calm down, Demi.”
She started to squirm when he grasped her arms and pinned them against her sides. “What’s the matter? Tell me.”
Her gaze began to clear, and a sob rocked through the air. “Where is Ryker?”
Mont swallowed. “Do you want me to go get him?”
Swayze nodded.
Mont wiped away her tears and walked toward the living room to see a sleeping Ryker. He scooped him up and carried him toward his bed, tucking him in the middle before double checking his security system and locks.
Both Ryker and Swayze were asleep when he got back.
What happened to her?
He wanted to know more than ever now.
He’d find out what hurt her and undo it.
Or make her safe again.
