Chapter 641

Chapter 641

After saying goodbye to all the guests, Gabriel walked over to Elisa and mentioned that Calista had woken up, asking if she wanted to visit her.

Elisa hesitated, seeking Howard's opinion.

Howard stayed neutral, showing he'd support whatever Elisa chose.

Sensing Elisa's uncertainty, Gabriel offered, "If you're not up for it, I can take you back now."

The Ramos family's servants nearby were surprised. Normally, Gabriel would rush to Calista's side whenever she needed him. But today, he was suggesting a delay?

Elisa quickly responded, "No, I'll go with you."

Gabriel looked relieved, saying, "You don't have to worry. No one in the Ramos family will judge you."

Elisa sighed inwardly.

Howard frowned slightly. It seemed Gabriel didn't quite grasp Elisa's nature. She wasn't one to be overly considerate. Her agreement to visit the hospital was mainly to figure out Calista's intentions.

The group headed out together, and as Elisa got into the car, she noticed Conrad and a child sitting behind her. It took her a moment to recall the child's identity - Conrad's younger brother, Noah Wall.

In a seemingly polite gesture to provide Conrad with company, but in reality, it felt like an attempt to add another child.

"Hey there," Noah said sweetly, smiling at Elisa.

Elisa's heart melted, and she couldn't resist patting his head.

To Noah, this gesture seemed like an invitation, and he happily climbed onto Elisa's lap.

Conrad, watching this, couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. Why was it so effortless for Noah, a Wall family kid, to win Elisa's favor?

Feeling slighted, Conrad casually placed Noah on Calista's bed.

Calista's scream broke their conversation, and Clea hurried over to check on her. Calista looked pale and distressed.

Innocently, Noah sat on her, seemingly oblivious to the situation.

Worried for Calista, Clea pushed Noah away and anxiously checked on Calista's condition, asking, "How are you feeling? Are you in pain?"

Calista couldn't speak, still recovering from Noah landing on her, nearly on her chest.

Seeing Calista's state, Clea turned to Noah, accusing him, "What were you thinking? Can't you see she's unwell?"

Her sharp tone scared Noah, who hid behind Elisa.

Conrad pretended to inquire, "Noah, what happened? How did you end up there?"

Noah almost teared up, saying, "I just wanted to check on Calista. I might have tripped."

"Tripped? You practically jumped on her. What's the story? Who told you to do this?" Clea interrogated, glancing at Elisa.

Elisa wasn't going to tolerate Clea's attitude and quickly interjected, "Clea, Noah is young and sometimes gets carried away. He meant well by checking on Calista. Why twist his actions into harming Calista?"

"How could a child like Noah harm Calista? It's unfair to jump to conclusions about him," Elisa defended.

With just one sentence, Clea was portrayed as an unreasonable adult picking on a child.

Clea visibly showed her displeasure.

Calista weakly spoke up, "Mom, Noah didn't mean any harm. I'm fine, really."

She appeared fragile, pale, and pitiful.

Nolan, standing next to the bed, felt a pang of sympathy for Calista and called for a doctor.

Despite feeling unwell, Calista sat up and apologized to Elisa, "Elisa, I'm sorry for not handling the makeup artist situation well. It's understandable that you're upset, but I truly had no bad intentions."

"Through the years, Dad has treated me like his own. Your return to the Ramos family is a joyous occasion, and I'm genuinely happy. I never had any other thoughts."

Her voice quivered, and she reached out to hold Elisa's hand, but Elisa didn't respond, so she awkwardly pulled back, her eyes reddened, creating the impression that Elisa had mistreated her.

"Elisa, I hope you can forgive me. I'm truly sorry for causing you trouble."

Seeing Elisa unmoved, Calista turned to Nolan, her eyes now even redder, "Dad, this was my mistake. I messed up by not understanding the situation."

Nolan hadn't quite caught on to what was happening yet, and it sounded serious, although there hadn't been any major incidents at the usual event.

Elisa's gaze softened, looking genuinely upset, "Calista, don't say that. I don't blame you. It was just a makeup artist, nothing significant. I only spoke up out of concern for you getting involved with those selfish people. Please don't misunderstand."

"I never expected you to suddenly get sick because of my worry. I feel really guilty. I was at a loss when you fainted."

Tears welled up in Elisa's eyes, startling Calista so much that she forgot to play the vulnerable card.

How could Elisa be so emotional?

Elisa's tears flowed even more freely, her nose turning red.

Nolan, still a bit confused, realized there was a misunderstanding. Before he could comfort anyone, he saw his beloved daughter Elisa crying too. He quickly spoke up, "Elisa, this isn't your fault. Calista tends to overthink things. Don't blame yourself."

Upon hearing Nolan unconditionally supporting Elisa, Calista and Clea's expressions changed.

Clea hurriedly stepped forward, taking Elisa's hand, "Elisa, Calista didn't think things through. Thankfully, nothing serious occurred, or delaying the family reunion would have been disastrous."

"On her behalf, I apologize to you. Please don't take it to heart."

She removed a heavy gold bracelet from her wrist and handed it to Elisa, "As a gesture of apology, please don't dwell on it."

It appeared to be an attempt to smooth things over.

Elisa glanced at the bracelet, then at Clea.

If the matter were looked into further, it would likely reveal that Calista had orchestrated it. Clea seemed to be aware of this, hence her haste to move past the situation.

A single bracelet seemed like a dismissive gesture toward Elisa.
