Holding onto his bottle, Zach's vision had already blurred. "I've known her since the first year of high school. I waited for her for six years. A whole six years! During these six years, I thought about her every day. I thought as long as she came back, we could return to how it used to be, but it seems like it was all just my imagination..."
With a bitter smile, Zach said, "Uncle Victor, you must find me ridiculous, right?"
Victor's eyes were deep, his mood complex. He didn't say a word, walked over to Zach's side, and ordered a glass of whiskey.
"Uncle Victor, do you want to drink with me? I remember you don't like drinking in places like this," Zach looked at Victor's flawless profile in surprise.
Victor didn't speak, elegantly sipped his whiskey. The drink was strong, but the taste was good enough. He finished it in one gulp. His clean and graceful appearance caught the attention of many girls nearby.
"Oh my god! He's so handsome!"
"How can there be such a good-looking man? I want his phone number!"
Two girls screamed wildly. Another person tried to approach, but was frightened by Victor's sharp gaze and quickly retreated. They could only watch him from afar.
Zach laughed and leaned on the table, gazing foolishly at Victor. "Uncle Victor, there's something I don't understand. Can I ask you?"
"Go ahead," Victor said leisurely.
Zach tilted his head. "Uncle Victor, do you also have a woman you like?"
Victor's hand holding the glass froze for a moment. He flashed a sexy smile. "Why do you ask?"
"As the president of Aadelha Group, you have power and influence in Woerek. You can date all kinds of women. Why are you still single?" And Victor was also very handsome, and his family had been urging him so much. Zach didn't understand why he was still delaying getting married.
Although Jessica had been with Victor all these years, Zach also knew that Victor had been supporting Jessica, but Zach always felt that they weren't truly in love.
"If you really like Jessica, you wouldn't have waited six years without marrying her. So you must secretly like another girl. Am I right?"
Victor couldn't deny it and fell into silence. There was no trace of surprise on his calm and handsome face.
Zach, however, knew that he had admitted it.
The understanding between men was that simple. They didn't say anything, yet could still guess what the other was thinking.
As if finding a kindred spirit, Zach leaned in closer to Victor and curiously asked, "Uncle Victor, what kind of girl do you like?"
"Why are you asking so many questions? Victor scolded sternly.
Zach, feeling disappointed, hugged the bottle. "The girl I like, we've known each other since childhood. We've known each other for many years. She's the sweetest girl I've ever seen when she smiles. Whenever our school had a match, she would always come. Uncle Victor, do you know what it feels like to have the girl you like watching you play from the sidelines?"
Victor's face turned cold. "I don't know."
"I know, which is why I love her so much. We've loved each other for so many years. How could she suddenly give up? When I went to see her today, I wanted to say 'Let's get married,' but before I could say it, she pushed me away. I'm really in pain. What should I do..."
Zach grabbed hold of Victor's sleeve, desperately seeking an answer.
Victor quietly pulled back his hand and patted his sleeve. "If you like her, then go after her. If you can't catch her, find someone else. There are plenty of women in the world."
"Uncle Victor, you're right! I can't give up like this!" After hearing Victor's words, Zach's hope ignited. He clinked glasses with Victor and took a big sip of his drink, then asked, "By the way, Uncle Victor, do I know the girl you like?"
"You don't know her," Victor shook his head and chuckled.
Zach was puzzled. "Who is she?"
Victor replied, "I don't know."
"Uncle Victor, you're making fun of me again. No one doesn't know who his favorite person is," Zach laughed heartily. Gradually, he got drunk and fell asleep on the bar counter.
The staff nearby called out to Zach a few times, but received no response, and didn't know what to do with the bill. Victor glanced at it and elegantly took out his black card. "I'll pay for his bill."
"Alright, sir," the staff smiled as they took the card.
Victor took a sip of his drink, his eyes deep. He really didn't know who that girl was. He only vaguely remembered the small birthmark on her chest and her alluring voice, which had been lingering in his dreams for years. He couldn't ignore it, nor forget it.
Towards Jessica, Victor always had a sense of disgust. He felt she was too artificial, very goal-oriented. He felt she was completely different from the girl from that night.
He also didn't know what he was waiting for. Perhaps, he was waiting for a certain feeling.
Victor dropped Zach off at Carter Villa, then returned to the hotel. He stayed in room 797. After that night, he had reserved this room and made it his own.
Victor stayed for one night. The next morning, he went to the company. His car was about to turn into the garage when he saw Sophia walking on the sidewalk next to him.
She had just bought breakfast from the roadside, including a cup of milk and a sandwich. Victor slowed down the car. As Sophia walked past his car, he honked the horn.
Outside the car, Sophia was startled and panicked. The milk she had just put a straw into fell to the ground. She was stunned for a moment, then became angry and jumped up. "Who is it? How immoral!"
Victor flashed a sexy smile. He rolled up the car window, accelerated, and drove away directly.
"This person didn't even apologize. He went too far!" Sophia was furious. She looked sadly at the bottle of milk on the ground and picked it up, throwing it into the trash. When Sophia thought about the wages that evil Victor had just taken away from her last night, she regretfully glanced at the milk in the trash. She endured it! Then she helplessly ate her sandwich and went to work.
The other colleagues had all arrived. They all avoided Sophia when they saw her. They ran far away and secretly looked at her, quietly discussing something. Sophia felt very strange and asked Emily, "Why is everyone acting strange today?"
Emily looked around, smiled brightly, and inquired, "Did you go out with Mr. Hastings last night?"
Sophia felt Emily's smile was somewhat unnerving and felt puzzled. "Is there a problem with that?"
"I had no idea you had such a close relationship with Mr. Hastings. I was wrong before. I hope you can be kinder to me and not be angry." Upon hearing Sophia's admission, Emily immediately smiled brightly. Her tone was very pleasing, and she even flattered Sophia.
Sophia was very puzzled. "I don't know Mr. Hastings. You misunderstood me."
"Don't deny it. It's the first time in many years that Mr. Hastings let a girl get in his car. Even his fiancée Jessica didn't get this treatment." Emily couldn't understand why Victor, who had driven away a newcomer, was so angry. Now Emily realized that Victor might actually like Sophia!
