Chapter 577 Seek Revenge
Charles filled Isabella in on Mason's current predicament. Mason was now confined to house arrest, with Owen taking control of the family's power. Additionally, Owen had been in touch with Henry during his time abroad. Not only was Owen backing Henry, but he had also reached out to two other families.
"Is he trying to split the spoils of the presidential election among the three families?" Isabella remarked sarcastically.
The Williams Family's newfound position as the top family among the four was due to their initial support for the president, which led to them receiving benefits that rightfully belonged to the Taylor Family. If these benefits were divided among the three major families, each member would get a smaller share.
Shaking his head, Charles gestured towards Isabella and said, "Mason mentioned that you might also be one of those benefits. In political games, sacrifices are made by others."
Isabella fell silent, realizing Mason's point. If the benefits from the election were insufficient to share, the Taylor Family would suffer as a result.
"Mason believes that Owen's deal with the other two families involves handing over the entire Taylor Family to them. Owen won't gain anything from this arrangement," Charles explained.
Isabella was taken aback by this revelation. She couldn't comprehend Owen's motives. Wouldn't giving the Taylor Family to the other families only make them stronger? Wasn't Owen afraid of losing his position as the leader of the four families?
"I know Owen; he wouldn't just give away significant advantages. He must see greater benefits beyond what the Taylor Family could offer," Charles remarked, studying Isabella intently.
Isabella exhaled deeply, beginning to grasp the advantages Owen saw in the game.
After conveying his message, Charles rose from his seat.
"I came here today pretending to buy supplies. I've said my piece. Be cautious, both you and Michael."
Just as he was about to leave, Charles paused.
"Oh, do you know who your husband really is?" he inquired of Isabella.
Isabella nodded slightly. "He's John's uncle."
Charles smiled.
"It seems you've cleared up the misunderstandings. Tell Michael that Owen was behind the assassination attempt at the airport on his return to the country. Mason hopes that in exchange for helping you, you'll spare Owen this time."
Without waiting for Isabella's reaction, Charles exited the café.
Unaware of Michael's airport ordeal, Isabella was stunned to learn of Owen's involvement.
Meanwhile, at the winery, Bianca glanced at her phone and saw the news.
Since her miscarriage, John had stopped caring whether Bianca used her phone or not.
As she held her phone, Bianca felt a twinge of satisfaction upon seeing Mason gravely ill.
"You're finally getting what you deserve, you old coot," Bianca muttered. She also noticed Owen's endorsement of Henry but didn't think it affected her.
Tossing her phone onto the table, Bianca heard it buzz once more.
Glancing at the dark screen, Bianca suddenly remembered the hidden phone.
She swiftly retrieved the concealed phone and answered Jonah's call.
"Long time no see, Bianca. Let's celebrate our survival," Jonah chuckled over the phone.
"Yeah, you made it out alive. What a piece of news," Bianca quipped sarcastically.
Jonah was surprised and retorted, "Show some respect. Remember, your mother is still in my hands."
Bianca burst into a chilling laughter.
"Then go ahead and do it. People die anyway, right? My father's gone, and I lost my child. Let our family reunite in hell."
There was a pause from Jonah's end, indicating he was aware of Bianca's miscarriage.
"You should be pleased now. Let me share something that might interest you. Isabella is facing some trouble," Jonah disclosed some news to Bianca, gradually calming her demeanor.
"Isabella is a leader among the four major families now. Why would she be in trouble? Did you find out about her husband's affair?" Bianca inquired.
"No affair, but I stumbled upon some intriguing details that could help you gain control of the Taylor Family," Jonah revealed.
Bianca was so stunned that she was speechless for a moment.
"I can vouch for the accuracy of this information. It might be beneficial to you," Jonah was interrupted by familiar footsteps.
"John's back. Let's talk later," Bianca hastily concealed the phone, then opened the door and left the bedroom.
In the living room, John tossed his coat on the sofa in frustration and loosened his tie.
Bianca noticed the stubble on John's usually clean-shaven face.
"Darling, what's going on?" Bianca asked, seeing John's despondent expression, feeling a pang of concern.
John sighed, taking Bianca's hand and sitting on the sofa.
"Bianca, I'm lost. My father and grandfather are at odds, and I'm torn between them. My uncle and Isabella have deceived me. I thought I was smart, but now I feel like a puppet in a circus."
Bianca sensed John's intense emotions, deepening her worry.
"What's happening? Isn't your grandfather in the hospital? And what about your uncle and Isabella?" Bianca probed, and John proceeded to share everything he knew.
Shocked by the revelations, Bianca exclaimed, "Isabella's mysterious husband is your uncle? And your father tried to assassinate him?"
"I'm at a loss. I thought our family was simpler than others, free from internal conflicts, but I was wrong," John said with a bitter smile, shaking his head.
Bianca narrowed her eyes, pondered for a moment, and suggested, "Setting aside family ties, have you considered seeking retribution against your uncle and Isabella?"
