Chapter 573 Ask Your Husband

After leaving the Williams Villa, John had planned to head back to the winery, but the idea of running into Bianca there made him rethink his decision.

Ever since Bianca got back from the hospital, she'd been in a funk, lost in her thoughts and avoiding conversations.

John found out from the doctor that Bianca's down mood was probably because of losing their child. He wanted to support her, but he knew it would take time.

As days passed, John's patience wore thin dealing with Bianca's distant behavior. Today, after Owen shared some truths with him, he struggled to keep his frustration in check. Instead of facing Bianca's cold shoulder, he opted to drown his sorrows at the bar.

To his surprise, John bumped into Isabella there. He hadn't seen her since he heard about her kidnapping and rescue. There wasn't any particular reason for them to meet.

Watching Isabella from afar, John's expression conflicted, but he decided to approach her.

Isabella was at the bar with Amelia, who seemed troubled.

"I'm so nervous. What if Benjamin's family doesn't approve of me? I don't come from the same background as them."

Amelia nervously gulped down her drink.

Benjamin had recently mentioned introducing Amelia to his parents. If things went well, they'd talk about getting engaged.

Amelia's doubts left her unsure how to handle the situation. Benjamin's family, while not as prestigious as the Four Great Families, still held influence.

"What if I marry Benjamin and his family talks behind my back? What if they think I'm after his money? Will they make fun of my education or my job situation? And what if Benjamin ends up in a fight with his family because of me? What should I do?"

Amelia poured out her concerns, while Isabella shook her head with a wry smile.

"Are you watching too many soap operas? That stuff doesn't happen in real life. Michael told me Benjamin's folks are cool and wouldn't judge you. Plus, there have been cases of them marrying regular gals in the family. So, you're stressing for no reason."

Isabella tried to reassure Amelia, but Amelia remained on edge.

"Michael's info might be old news. What if Benjamin's family changes their tune? I'm freaking out. I need another drink."

Amelia wanted another round, but Isabella stopped her, knowing she'd end up wasted.

"I think you should talk to Benjamin about this instead of driving yourself crazy. You won't figure it out alone."

Isabella shrugged and dialed Benjamin's number to come pick them up.

"Don't call him. I don't want him to see me like this. He'll tease me," Amelia tried to snatch Isabella's phone, but Isabella dodged.

Isabella chuckled, "You're my bestie. Who'd dare make fun of you? Worried about Benjamin's folks judging your background? Tomorrow, let's go splurge on fancy stuff to show them you're no slouch either."

Noticing Amelia's distant look, Isabella playfully patted her shoulder, "See? Having me around cheers you up. Don't give me that look. That's what pals are for."

But Amelia shook her head, pointing behind Isabella, "No, I see John heading our way."

Isabella turned and spotted John approaching, "He's probably just coming to say hi. Pay him no mind."

Isabella said casually, then called Benjamin to come get them.

After arranging for Benjamin to pick them up, Isabella hung up and found John standing before her.

"Isabella, good evening," John greeted, his expression complex.

Isabella calmly responded, "Mr. Williams, didn't expect to see you here. Heard about Bianca's loss. Shouldn't you be with her?"

Isabella's tone wasn't mocking; she was merely acknowledging him.

Unconcerned about upsetting John, Isabella's bodyguard was close by, providing her with a sense of security.

John shook his head, "Can we not talk about her? I wanted to chat with you."

Isabella furrowed her brows, "Mr. Williams, I don't see what we have to discuss."

Taking a deep breath, John locked eyes with Isabella, "Isabella, do you really know your husband?"

Isabella's brows furrowed deeper, "John, what are you getting at?"

Amelia also looked at John, puzzled.

John pressed on, "Have you ever wondered why your husband and my uncle are never seen together?"

Isabella's eyes narrowed, her demeanor turning icy, "What are you implying? My husband is your uncle? This isn't a joke, John. If you're trying to stir up trouble in my family, it's childish."

Isabella grabbed Amelia and left.

Shouting after her, John called out, "Maybe you should ask your husband about his true identity!"

Ignoring John, Isabella exited the bar with Amelia.

"Amelia, wait here for Benjamin. I'll head home first."

Isabella assigned two bodyguards to watch over Amelia and took the rest with her.

Shortly after, Benjamin pulled up in his car. Amelia bid farewell to the bodyguards and hopped into Benjamin's car.

Perplexed, Benjamin asked, "Why are you alone? Where's Isabella?"

With a strange look, Amelia replied, "We bumped into John at the bar. He said some wild stuff about Isabella's husband being his uncle. Isabella went home."

As Amelia spoke, she noticed a drastic shift in Benjamin's expression.
