Chapter 90 A super-beautiful woman
As Asher and Stella Turner stepped into the elevator, he gave her a thorough once-over, growing more dazzled the longer he looked. He was used to seeing Stella in sleek business attire or alluring evening gowns, each ensemble casting her in an irresistibly sultry light. However, today she sported an innocent look reminiscent of a college girl, yet this stylish simplicity only highlighted her natural charm even more, adding a raw seductive quality to her appearance...
Asher slid into the driver's seat of his Porsche and Stella cozied up beside him, both settling comfortably as they eased out of the neighborhood.
"By the way, where's my birthday present?" Stella leaned back in her seat and asked out of the blue.
"Your birthday present?" Asher was taken aback and glanced at the sapphire bracelet still on her wrist, replying with feigned annoyance, "The bracelet is your present."
"What?" Stella lifted her wrist closer, examining the bracelet with a puzzled expression. "This was already mine, how could it become your gift to me?"
Damn it!
"I don't care; you haven't given me a present yet."
Seeing Stella's serious face almost made Asher bang his head on the steering wheel.
Stella pursed her lips smugly, carefully unclasping the bracelet to take a closer look. "This piece is quite pretty, obviously expensive. But sometimes, the prettier things are, the more deceptive they can be. You didn’t just pick this up from some street vendor for a few bucks, did you?"
Asher turned to glare at her. If it weren’t her birthday today, he probably would have kicked her out of the car.
Seeing Asher's frustrated face, Stella chuckled, "Alright, I'll stop teasing you. I really like the gift you 'gave' me. You must have put a lot of thought into choosing it."
"It was nothing." Stella's unexpected praise took Asher off guard.
"Don't go straight, turn right here. We're heading somewhere nice. You're playing by my rules today; just do as I say!" Stella waved her hand enthusiastically.
"Uh..." Asher was exasperated, aware of the ambiguity in her words, grateful that they were alone in the car. If anyone else had heard that, who knows what they'd think.
"Today, you're the boss. What's our first destination? We can't just be driving around aimlessly, can we?" Asher slowed the car, waiting at the traffic light to ask.
"Oh? That's not a bad idea!" Stella's eyes sparkled.
Asher just sighed.
“Cruising is better at night when the wind's got a cool touch to it. Hold up, let me check my planner,” Stella Turner settled cozily into her seat, stretched languidly with a yawn that was just too seductive to ignore...
Asher let out a low 'hmm' as he heard the siren-like moan beside him. He couldn't help but sneak a peek at Stella, only to nearly veer off into the wrong lane with a jolt of his hands...
After her enticing stretch in the passenger seat, Stella didn't bother buckling up. Instead, she slipped off her white sneakers, revealing her perfectly curved bare feet to the air. What really got to Asher was when she casually reclined her seat back, rested comfortably, and propped those feet just below the windshield...
Asher embarrassingly swallowed hard and quickly averted his gaze, mentally rolling his eyes at Stella casualness inside the car. It was a good thing he was decent behind the wheel; otherwise, that unexpectedly steamy scene might have caused an accident.
Stella Turner didn't care in the least; it was her birthday, after all, and it was all about what made her happy!
She turned and actually pulled a small notebook from her purse, looking over it she announced, “Let's hit up the mega-shopping center on Rosewood Avenue. I'm in the mood for a shopping spree today—I want new clothes!”
"Uh..."
Asher was at a loss for words. She stayed up researching until past midnight for this?
Shopping?
Asher was thoroughly impressed. Why shop now when anytime after work would do? The stores stayed open until ten!
"Why do you need more clothes?" He tried to divert his attention by changing the subject.
"What do you mean, 'why'? Can't I buy new clothes?" Stella Turner looked at Asher, whose face had turned a shade of crimson. She'd seen his reaction loud and clear, and couldn't help feeling a bit smug about it. To tease him further, she stretched again, casually swinging a foot over, resting it on Asher's thigh...
"Look, Miss Turner, give me a break, will you? This isn't the place for that. What if we have an accident?" Asher felt the warmth on his leg and struggled to keep his eyes away from those distracting feet.
“Stop putting on an act with me. I may not know your real background, but could my godfather ever pick wrong? Taking on over thirty guards single-handedly, you're like some kind of special forces hero. Should I really be worried about you getting us into a car wreck while driving?”
Stella Turner snorted, twisting around in her seat to lounge, and looking over at Asher with a playful chuckle, she teasingly prodded, "Asher, tell me. How did you end up with a bombshell like Avery and then not touch her for three years ? The rumors online say you're some kind of loser son-in-law, but surely, after three years together, Avery must know your true colors. Is she keeping you at bay, or are you the one abstaining?"
Asher, breaking into a sweat, replied, "Do I really need to report the details of my marriage to you?" Stella, perhaps teasing intentionally, kept brushing her leg against his, sending a jolt through him and he tried to focus all his attention on the road ahead, fearing a moment's distraction might send the car veering off into a ditch, his mind in utter chaos.
He had made up his mind that he wouldn't succumb to impulse like the last time when he couldn't resist getting too close to Stella, yet here she was, igniting that urge all over again.
"Wasn't it just moments ago you announced you were calling the shots today? This can hardly be considered a top-secret matter, right?" Stella pouted curiously, her tiny foot pressing down on Asher's thigh even harder to express her impatience.
That unexpected move sent a wave of sensation coursing through Asher. Panicked, he immediately slowed down the car, twisting his face in mock agony towards her, "Miss Turner, spare me. If this keeps up, we're both done for."
"And about Avery, what else could it be? Clearly, I haven't touched her," Asher said matter-of-factly.
"Really now? Mr. White, you're so noble and self-controlled. If that's the case, what are you afraid of?" Stella's eyes narrowed with mirth as she studied Asher.
He stumbled, "Well, you know, we're both adults here, and some topics ought to be handled with care, don't you think?" His excuses were weak; he didn't know how to explain himself properly.
Frustration simmered within him. It was impossible to be without desires. This woman was clearly mocking him.
"What's the matter? I'm your sister, aren't I? Surely, you aren't denying that?" Stella commanded with an air of superiority.
"Yes, yes, you'll always be my sister, but..." Asher was annoyed, mentally lamenting that it was precisely this delicate relationship that kept him from acting on his impulses. Otherwise, what man could endure such torment?
"No buts, get this car moving, and step on it! I've got other plans this afternoon!" Stella Turner urged, her eyes fleeting down to her own petite feet nestled on the seat, blush creeping onto her cheeks as she gauged Asher's reaction.
Thankfully, Asher wasn't as clueless as she'd feared. A formidable fighter, almost godlike in combat, it would have been shocking if he were inept in other... areas of expertise.
Even though she was burning with curiosity about Asher and Avery's past, it was clear as day that Asher had no intention of spilling the beans.
"How 'bout you take your feet off my lap first. And hey, how about I foot the bill for your shopping spree today? My treat," Asher grunted through gritted teeth.
"You sure about that? Women's clothes can cost a pretty penny, you know."
"I'm sure." His arm swept majestically, exuding the flair of a nouveau riche—never hesitating for a second. Hadn't he just dished out $400,000 on a birthday present? What's a bit more for clothes?
Right now, he was desperate for Stella to remove her feet from his lap before he lost his composure entirely.
"Mr. White, this generosity isn't part of some scheme, is it?" Stella eyed Asher with a hint of suspicion.
Enjoying his frustrated expression, Stella hummed triumphantly in her head and finally, slowly withdrew her legs.
Feeling the shift, a relieved breath escaped Asher's lips. He revved the engine and focused more intently on the road ahead.
Watching Stella buzz excitedly from one dress shop to the next, she finally scooped up a mini-skirt and dashed into the changing room. Slumped in a chair outside, Asher, with his face twisted in despair, was left holding a mountain of boxes and bags . "Stella, can we maybe branch out? We've grabbed plenty of these already."
He finally got it. This was her idea of a shopping spree—a real spree!
Asher was beat, beginning to suspect she invited him to her birthday shopping just to be her personal pack mule.
He had to admit, just like his own wife, Stella had a thing for skirts—only she craved mini-skirts and hot pants, each piece daringly bold and incredibly sexy.
Of course, Avery had a few of those in her wardrobe too, she just seldom wore them.
