Chapter 15 Sunny

Chapter 15 Sunny
I awake to the sound of a knocking, no, a pounding on the bedroom door. I look around and see Logan is still asleep, I gently give him a shove and say, “Logan, I think something is wrong.” The pounding gets louder and the door handle starts to rattle.

“Logan!” Justin’s voice booms through the door.

Logan bolts upright and yells, “Be right there.” He gives me a quick kiss and says, “Get dressed, this can’t be good.” And with that he slides out of bed and strides to the dresser and pulls out a pair of boxes and slides them on, without anything else on he goes to the door and opens it. “What!” He barks.

“It is Brighten, he knows we were at the bank yesterday and he is on his way here.” Justin rushes out.

“What? How the fuck did he find out anything?” He states plainly.

“The slimy Mr. Parr, apparently is on Brighten’s payroll.” Justin continues, “That’s not all, we have had several perimeter alarms going off, I have the men looking into.” No sooner than he finished speaking his radio chips and you can hear gunfire. “Shit, they are already here.” Justin grabs his radio and into it he chirps, “Where are they?”

The radio crackles and a loud voice comes over, “1.5 clicks from the house on the north side.”

“Fuck, okay, I will get Sunny to the safe room and then join you in the war room.” Logan stamps out.

Justin nods and rushes off. Logan closes the door and turns to see me still in bed in shock. He rushes over to me and holds me briefly before he says, “We need to get dressed and then get you down to the armory and into the safe room. Okay sweets.”

I just nod and follow him into the closet. We dress quickly and in silence, once we are dressed in jeans and t-shirts, I throw a sweatshirt on and then slide my feet into a pair of sneakers. We slowly make our way down the hall and onto the main level. Just as we reach the front room all hell breaks loose. Alison runs in from the kitchen area.

“They are already in the house, they waited until everyone was outside and they are in the home. Justin, Marcus and Riley have them stopped in the kitchen for now. We need to get you two to safety.” She rushes out.

“I need to get to the safe room. It is in the armory. I know of another entrance through the garage. Let’s go.” He grabs my hand and we are practically running toward there. Alison is bringing up the rear and I hear her fire her weapon. “Fuck,” Logan mumbles and picks up the pace.

“Keep going!” Alison yells in between firing her gun and the yelps of the men she is hitting.

I am terrified and grip Logan’s hand tighter and run to keep up. We reach the garage and just as we enter, Logan slumps over and I scream, only to have it covered by a large meaty hand over my mouth and then I am pulled against a massive hard frame.

“You keep screaming and I will give you something to do with that mouth.” Came the rough voice behind me that sent chills down my spine. “Now, I know you want your man to live, right?” He asks,

I am only able to nod.

“Good girl, now move.” He gives me a shove and hits the open button on the garage, he is pulling me by my arm, and I can see Logan laying on the ground, but then I see him take a breath.

“I got the package everyone, move out.” The ugly man says as he pulls me into a waiting van.

Once inside it speeds away and my hands and feet are bound, however, they leave my mouth alone. I just sit quietly and try to get my head around what is happening and what is going to happen. I can only hope that Logan gets to me quickly and I am able to make it through this.

The ugly man as I am going to continue to call him starts to laugh and smacks his equally as large and ugly partner on the shoulder and boasts, “Like taking candy from a baby. So much for being a security specialist.”

“I don’t know, it took me a minute to trigger the perimeter alarms remotely and then to get the house offline. Good thing we were already tied into their system, Curtis did good.” He chimes in and then turns to leer at me. “So, we can’t have any fun at all can we?”

I shrink into myself more as I watch them and try to keep the terror out of my eyes.

“Unfortunately, no, the boss was clear and I for one don’t wish to die over some sloppy seconds.” He says with all the evilness in his tone.

“Too bad.” His friend says and then turns around to look out the front window and dials his cell. “We got.” He pauses for a moment and then he says, “Yeah, it was easy, and they had no clue what hit them.” He pauses again, “Right, we should be there within ten minutes.”

Ten minutes, but which way, if we are going north, then we will be at the small airstrip, but if we are going south, then I am at a loss. Once again, I am at the mercy of others, I am so tired of this.

“Why are you doing this? And where are we going?”  I ask in a soft and fragile voice, so I don’t give the fact I am now pissed off.

“Why, you are going to your future.” The first man snidely says, “I’m sure you will be grateful and not put up much of a fight. Although,” He looks at his friend and smiles wide, “I am sure he would love it if you fought.” They both laugh at this comment and then he leans in close and sneering he says, “Plus, when he gets his fill,” he runs a finger down my cheek and continues. “Then we get to ride.”

I flitch and swallow hard. To this he laughs even harder. We hit a bump in the road, and he hits his head and screams at the driver to watch what he is doing. Thankfully after his little comment he leaves me alone and joins the two other men in the front half of the van. I am left alone and try to see if I can get my hands free, no. Well, shit, I am just going to have to pray that Logan can get to me soon.

Logan

I slowly come too and groan as I rub the back of my head, “Sunny!” I wince as I try to get my bearings.

“Boss,” Justin comes rushing up to me and helps me stand, “Where is Sunny?” He asks as he looks around. I do the same and start to panic that she is gone.

“I don’t know, how did they get in and is everyone okay?” It hurts to talk, but I need to know.

“Before it all went down, Marcus caught Curtis in the war room disabling the system.” He grits out. “We have him in the hole and as for everyone else, there are a few injuries, and a couple of bodies in the kitchen, thankfully those are not ours.” He rushes out when he looks at my face.

“Sunny, I think they took her.”

“She still has her ring and her nails.” He states and looks at me, “We can track her. I have Riley on it now and Theo and a small group are gearing up and getting ready.”

“Good, I am going too.” I gruff and then start making my way into the main house and take in all the damage. “Fuck, I am going to kill whoever did this.”

“I am right there with you.” He looks around and sees Alison with blood pouring out of her arm and he rushes to her, “Alison,” he pulls his belt and ties it around her arm and forces her over to the chair. “We need to get you to a medic.” He looks around and yells, “Rupert, I need your pack in here STAT!”

I rush over to her and check the wound. It looks like the bullet went straight through. “You okay?”

She winces when Rupert slides in next to us and lifts her arm to rip her sleeve. “Yeah, just a flesh wound.” She says trying to lighten the mood, “Go find our girl and kill the asshole who did this.”

“It was a clean shot and should heal nicely, not too much blood loss and with a few stitches you should be good to go.” Rupert states as he cleans the wound and adds a blood stopping agent. Then he gets his needle and thread to stitch her up.

Marcus comes rushing into the room with a handheld tablet, “We got her, just twenty miles north of here, it looks like they are heading to the small airstrip.” He huffs out. “I have Webster in the chopper, and he is ready when you are, if we time it right, we will land and the same time they pull up.”

With that news, I look at Justin and he nods, places a quick kiss on Alison’s head and we are off, five men meet me at the chopper and we file in, there are ten more taking cars and should meet us there. Once the chopper is in the air, I take a breath and look at the tablet that is tracking her progress and sending up a prayer that she is okay.

Marcus looks at Theo and the both look at me. Justin is the one to answer their thoughts, “If we have to, we will.” With that they all nod and get back to making sure each weapon has enough bullets.

“We will need to alert the local PD at some point.” I say to them.

“I already did and told them we will let them know when we have more information.” Justin says with a sly grin, “I figured we will let them know when it is all over.”

“I like that idea.”

Webster comes over the intercom, “Two minutes out and they just got clearance to take off as soon as they are all on board. So be ready, I will land in front of them so that they can’t go anywhere.”

We all nod and get into position to make an air jump if needed. He circles into the flight path and hovers close enough to the ground for us to jump out. Bullets are flying by the time we hit the ground and I am running toward the cars and the van that just stopped next to the small plane. I will be damned if they are going anywhere near that plane.

I see two men get out of the van and through the cover fire of their friends they are trying to get an unconscious Sunny up to the stairs. I lose it and take aim at the one not holding her. Direct hit, he goes down like a sack and his friend spins with a wily look and Sunny slumped over his shoulder.

She stirs and then tries to get out of his hold.

He smacks her ass to keep her still and keeps a hold of it and grins at me then bolts for the stairs. I am on him in four strides, he falls forward and Sunny goes with him.

She moans when her head hits, unfortunately I can’t check on her at this moment as I am in hand to hand with her capture. He uses my distraction to punch me, I rear back and shake it off.

“Your woman is a great piece and I will enjoy her when you are gone.” He laughs.

I charge him and take him off guard as I throw him to the ground and start pummeling him in the face, the chest, anywhere my red rage sees fit. He is trying to kick his way out and trying to roll. I catch his arms with my legs and continue to serve blow after blow even after he goes limp.

“Logan!” I don’t know how I heard her, but I did, and it stops me mid-swing. I look up and see she is trying to sit up, but her hands and feet are bound.

I jump up and lumber over to her and scoop her up into my arms and kiss her as if our lives depended on it. “I will never let you out of my sight again.” I say in between kisses.” I didn’t even hear the click of the gun before I was hit in the shoulder.

Sunny’s scream sounds like it is coming through a tunnel as I fall back down the stairs. When I land, I look up and see Brighten holding the smoking gun with a sneer. He strides down toward Sunny and just before he reaches her, he stumbles back, his chest turns red and he looks down then falls back. Justin and Marcus rush up, Justin goes straight for Sunny and gets her away, while Marcus gets me straight and then to my feet. Before I know it, we are in the chopper and Sunny is next to me.

She picks up my head and is rubbing her hands gently through my hair as Marcus is trying to stop the bleeding. “You are going to be okay,” She cries into my ear. “You can’t leave me.”

I try to blink, but my eyes are getting heavy and the blackness takes me.
