Chapter 149 You Only Deceived Me.
Chapter 149 You Only Deceived Me.
Adrian
“What do you want me to do, Evelyn? I’ll do anything. Do you want me to turn myself in to the police? I’ll do it! It’s fine, I’ll go to prison. Will you be satisfied then? I’ll do it. I’ll throw myself into the fire for you, you should know that.” I looked at Evelyn as her tears fell. My heart pounded hard when she heard my words.
“That’s not what I want, Adrian. I don’t want you to go to prison. But you did this... I just... I just can’t understand it. You’re not like this... You’re not a criminal,” she said through her tears.
“It’s okay, Evelyn. If you want me to go to prison, I’ll go now. Just don’t cry,” I said in a weak voice as I looked at her and my tears fell.
She stared at me in shock. Did I really mean what I was saying? Did I love her this much? But what about everything that had happened?
“I don’t find any excuse for violence, and you know that, Adrian,” she said through her tears.
I looked at her sadly and nodded my head.
“No matter what happened or what you thought, I don’t find any reason that justifies violence,” she said as tears streamed down her cheeks.
I looked down and pulled my phone from my pocket. Evelyn looked at me in confusion as I typed the emergency number. I was about to call when she snatched it from my hand and quickly ended the call, breathing heavily.
“What the hell are you doing?” she asked in disbelief.
“Isn’t this what you want?” I said in a broken voice as I looked at her sadly.
I tried to take my phone back from her, but she stopped me. She looked at me, and I swallowed hard under the weight of her stare.
“We’ll talk about this later. But don’t bring the police into this,” she said nervously.
I looked at her in confusion as I put my phone back into my pocket. She was still angry and sad, but at least she no longer wanted me to turn myself in.
“Evelyn, please... I just don’t know what to say... I...”
“There’s nothing to say. There really isn’t. Adrian, you only deceived me. That’s the only truth. You took advantage of my kindness and used my trust in you,” she said in a distant voice, cutting me off.
Her tears fell again, and I shook my head, almost dropping to my knees to beg her for forgiveness.
“It’s not like that. Believe me,” I said in a weak voice.
“Thank you for everything,” Evelyn said quietly with a sad smile.
I looked at her, then at her finger where the ring was. My eyes followed it, and my heart ached when I realized what she was about to do.
I reached for her hand as she raised it to take off the ring.
“Please don’t take it off. Don’t. Please don’t... don’t,” I said through my tears as I grabbed her hand.
“Let me go, Adrian. You lied to me,” she said angrily through her tears.
I held her face between my hands. She looked at me and calmed down a little.
“Do you want me to die, Evelyn? Huh? Say yes and I’ll do it... but don’t take that ring off your finger,” I said angrily.
“You’re a liar,” she said through her tears.
I pressed my forehead against hers, breathing with difficulty.
“Don’t take it off your finger, please,” I said in a weak voice.
She looked at me through her tears.
“Don’t do this,” I said while crying.
Evelyn looked at me, tears washing over her face. Damn, she was confused in every way.
“Damn you,” she said in a crying voice.
All that mattered to me was that she had stopped trying to take off the ring. That was all that mattered.
Evelyn was crying when she looked behind me and frowned in confusion.
“Kai?”
Kai was standing with Marcus. I didn’t know how long they had been there.
I turned and looked at Kai, who stood with his hands in his pockets, looking at us coldly.
“I knew there was something between you two...” Kai said sarcastically.
Marcus looked at him in shock.
“You knew, Dad?” he asked in disbelief.
“Yes... I knew since we came. But I wasn’t sure. I suspected you two on the plane. You were too comfortable with each other. You disappeared together, and you appeared together too,” Kai said.
I looked at him coldly.
“Yes, why don’t you become a detective? You seem good at watching other people,” I said sarcastically.
Kai looked at me and smiled with contempt.
“How long have you two been together? I mean, your cover was great. I’m really impressed with you two,” he said sarcastically.
“That’s none of your business,” I shouted.
Kai laughed and turned to Evelyn.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk... Evelyn, Evelyn. You’re such an idiot. I don’t know where my wife is so she can see this scene... It’s worth watching, a live show for us,” he said mockingly.
Evelyn was crying. Now everyone would make fun of her, even Marcus. Her forehead was bleeding, and she felt like she had been cruelly deceived. She was silent. She said nothing. She was in shock, and what could she say? Kai was right!
“Mind your own business, Kai,” I said coldly.
“Evelyn, ever since I left you, your condition has been getting worse. What a shame. Poor thing,” Kai said mockingly.
Marcus was looking at the ground in silence. He didn’t defend her, as usual.
“No, Evelyn, don’t listen to him...” I said nervously.
“How could you sleep with your son’s friend? What a disgrace... You’re a disgrace to all mothers,” Kai said mockingly.
Her tears fell again. She only looked at Marcus, who didn’t defend her. It seemed she had lost him.
“Don’t listen to him, Evelyn. He’s trying to bring you down. He’s trying to brainwash you.”
Evelyn was crying loudly now.
I held her hand, and Marcus looked at us angrily. He felt betrayed by both his friend and his mother.
“Evelyn, don’t listen to him, please. I told you before... you have me. I’ll never leave you,” I said sadly.
Marcus started looking around with growing anger, until he saw a piece of glass lying in the sand. Rage filled him, and he grabbed it tightly.
“Don’t touch her, you bastard!” Marcus shouted.
“Marcus, don’t!” Kai said worriedly.
Evelyn was looking at something behind me. I saw Marcus running toward me angrily, holding the glass in his hand, intending to hit me with it. I didn’t notice in time.
“Adrian, watch out!” Evelyn said in panic.
I was confused by her words and didn’t understand. I frowned and was about to turn around.
She suddenly pushed him aside. It happened so fast... I fell to the ground and couldn’t understand what had happened.
Evelyn’s eyes widened, and so did Marcus’s. She looked at Marcus in shock, then looked down at her stomach and found the piece of glass buried in it, her son’s hands stained with her blood.
Her little son!
She gasped in pain through her tears, her shocked eyes fixed on him. Her features twisted as Marcus stared at her in shock.
She looked at him, and he looked at her, while Kai was shocked too, and so was I.
“Mom!” Marcus said in shock.
I watched her hold her stomach in pain.
“Marc... us...” Evelyn said in a crying, stunned voice.
She looked at her stomach, then at him, and dropped to her knees. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at me.
I stared in shock at Evelyn as she fell to the ground.
