The moment when Jane jumped down, Quincy rushed over. Without thinking, he also jumped into the water.
Fortunately, Quincy could swim. He grabbed Jane's clothes and tried his best to swim towards the shore.
"What are you doing? Let me die!" Quincy grabbed Jane. Jane wanted to break free from Quincy's hand, but Quincy would not let go once he grabbed her. In the end, with great effort, Quincy finally pulled Jane back to the shore safely.
"Why did you save me? Why didn't you let me die?" Jane sat on the grass beside the lake and said sadly.
Jane was wet, and her clothes were tightly pasted on her body, outlining her delicate body, making her look exceptionally pitiful.
"Why did I save you?" Quincy calmed down. He really couldn't understand Jane's actions and thoughts. "You can commit suicide. But have you ever thought about your parents? Who will support them in the future? The country has nurtured you for so many years. In the end, is this how you repay the society? You are such an idiot!"
Quincy wanted to awaken Jane's desire for survival!
Hearing Quincy's words, Jane was shocked. She hugged her knees and wasn't as excited as before.
"You said that you weren't even afraid of death. Why don't you have the courage to live?" Quincy's attitude softened.
Jane looked up at Quincy with her big watery eyes.
Her eyes shone brightly. It looked so heartbreaking. Quincy suddenly had a feeling that this weak girl was not what he had imagined.
"If I can survive, I will not choose to die." Jane's tone was filled with helplessness.
Quincy enthusiastically asked, "If you encounter any difficulties, you can tell me. Perhaps I can help you."
Looking at Quincy's sincere gaze, Jane felt that he really wanted to help her. A warmth rose in the depths of her heart. She felt comfortable.
"You can't help me." Thinking of her own situation, Jane's heart cooled down again.
"Just tell me. Trust me. I will definitely be able to help you!" Wasn't it easy for Quincy, a rich kid to help her?
"Thanks. I'm really grateful that you have such thoughts!" Jane smiled faintly. She felt that this stranger in front of her was so nice.
"Alright." Quincy sighed and said seriously, "However, I hope you can promise me that you won't do such a foolish thing again."
"I promise," Jane said.
Only then did Quincy feel relieved. He pulled Jane up from the ground and said, "Oh right, you shouldn't buy such expensive food in the future. You can't afford it."
Jane blushed and looked down slightly. She tugged at the corner of her clothes with both hands and whispered, "Actually, I don't eat more than 10 yuan a day. Today, I thought it was my final day this world, so I took the courage to order seafood rice at Good Food...."
Hearing Jane's soft voice, Quincy couldn't help but relent. "Then why did you order two?"
"I think that 200 yuan for a meal is too extravagant for me. In order to feel better, I haven't eaten for the past two days. I'm very hungry, so I ordered two." Jane's voice became softer and softer.
"So that's what it is?" Looking at Jane who was embarrassed, Quincy felt that she was cute.
"Come here!" Jane pulled Quincy and walked back to the stone where the seafood rice was placed. She smiled warmly at Quincy, then picked up a box of seafood rice and brought it to Quincy. "Here you are."
"No need. Aren't you hungry?" Quincy rejected.
Jane raised her chin and said, "You can eat it. I just knew that I could only eat a bowl of rice for one meal. I'm already full now."
"Alright then." Quincy took the lunch box and sat down on the stone to eat.
Quincy ate and Jane watched him. He felt a bit embarrassed, "Take a seat."
"Alright." Jane sat beside Quincy. Quincy had put in a lot of effort just now. He was hungry. He enjoyed the food and he didn't know that the grains of cooked rice stuck to his face. Jane helped Quincy take them off. Quincy was shocked, and he had a strange feeling in his heart, "Thank you."
Quincy and Jane chatted while he was eating. Only then did Quincy know that Jane had knelt down to his mother in his hometown in the Northeast, asking her to forgive him for being unfilial.
Quincy finished his meal quickly. There was something special between them.
"Well, can I meet you at this time tomorrow?" Quincy scratched his head and said embarrassedly.
Jane impressed Qunicy. He felt the urge in his heart to protect this girl. If he didn't see her in the future, Quincy would feel empty.
Jane did not expect that Quincy would ask such a question. There were bright pink patches on her cheeks.
"Yes." Jane listened to her own heart.
The next day, as soon as Quincy finished his class, he arrived at Redby Lake at noon.
Sure enough, he saw a delicate figure sitting on the stone.
Quincy was excited as he walked over step by step.
Jane heard Quincy's footsteps and turned around. She held a red and yellow plastic bag in her hand. She stood up and extended the plastic bag to Quincy, "Here you are."
Quincy was surprised. He took the plastic bag. They were peaches, plums, apricots. And there were water droplets on it. However, none of them was complete.
"These fruits you bought for me are too expensive. Don't buy it for me anymore," Quincy said. Quincy was deeply moved. He knew that to others, the fruit could be the most ordinary food, but to Jane, eating fruit was a luxury thing.
Jane said unconfidently, "You can eat them. They are not expensive. I bought all the seasonal fruits. Furthermore, they were left over from someone else's selection. The owner sold them to me at half price. I cleaned them up and dug out the broken parts for you. I hope you can like it."
"Why do I dislike it?" Quincy was shocked by Jane's thoughts. She saved up money to buy fruit for Quincy, and cared so much about his thoughts.
Quincy picked up a peach and stuffed it into his mouth. The juice splashed everywhere, "It's delicious!"
"Here you are. This peach is really sweet!" Quincy picked up a peach and handed it to Jane.
Jane watched Quincy eat happily. She smiled sweetly, and put the peach into her mouth.
For the next few days, Quincy and Jane would meet at the lake every afternoon.
Every time Quincy came, he would take the food from the cafeteria and eat with Jane. Jane did not refuse.
Of course, Quincy ordered the most ordinary dishes. He didn't want Jane to know his identity yet, but he liked the current state.
Quincy packed a portion of green vegetables and tofu, and a portion of stewed vegetables to Redby Lake.
Strangely, Jane wasn't here today. Normally, Jane would have come early.
Perhaps something took her time today.
Quincy sat leisurely on the stone. Jane had never eaten a decent meal before, so she would definitely be happy to have meal in the best restaurant in JM City.
Quincy sat on the stone and waited for 20 minutes. Before Jane came, the food was about to get cold. Quincy took out his phone and called her.
"Jane, where are you now?"
"Ah ... I'm sorry, Quincy, I can't come over today." Jane's voice came from his phone. "Our class is doing experiments in the laboratory building now. I can't leave. You can eat by yourself." After saying that, Jane hung up the phone.
"Hey ... hey...." Quincy looked at his phone and felt strange. He slapped his forehead. Jane couldn't come over, but he could send the food to her!
Quincy carried the food and quickly walked towards the laboratory building.
After arriving at the laboratory building, Quincy called Jane. He asked which laboratory Jane was in.
Jane stammered, "Ah ... you went to the laboratory building ... But I'm leaving the building now. You can eat it yourself. You don't need to worry about me anymore...."
When Quincy asked Jane where he was, Jane hung up the phone.
Quincy had a bad premonition. Was Jane hiding something from him? Quincy became more and more uneasy. He ran out of the laboratory building and casually threw the food into the trash. Then, he began to look for Jane wherever she might go.
The cafeteria, the supermarket, the hot water room ... Quincy had found all the places where she might go, but he didn't find her out. Furthermore, she didn't answer his phone.
Quincy was helpless. His heart was as uneasy as a ball of wool messed up by a kitten. His heart was in a mess.
Quincy walked into the playground dejectedly, sat down on the grass, and looked at the people jogging on the track absentmindedly.
Quincy's eyes lit up. He saw a small figure sitting in the corner of the grandstand. If it wasn't Jane, then who was she?
Quincy had a feeling that he got it back. He stood up and rushed towards Jane.
"Jane, why didn't you answer my call...?" Quincy walked to Jane and asked her. Quincy had a trace of complaint in his heart. But when Jane looked up, Quincy was shocked.
Jane's face was black and blue, and her eyes were swollen. Jane beautiful little face was now scratched and bruised!
