Chapter 26 Having A Time Of His Life With His Lover

Chapter 26 Having A Time Of His Life With His Lover
It's the fifth day since Ethan left for a business trip. Moriah felt odd at the stares she received from the nurses and doctors as she and Cindy passed by. She had seen some who were whispering among themselves and most of them looked at her pitifully.

She didn't think much about it as she had to do two surgeries today and distraction was the last thing she needed. At Cindy's office, annoyance was written all over her face when Zachary came in.

"Mr Brown, how may I help you?" She asked in a professional tone.

She's annoyed to see him in her office yet she has to be professional.

"I'm here for a check up," Zachary wore his boyish grin, which Cindy found rather cute than annoying.

She smirked and answered, "I'm a general practitioner, if it's about men's health you came to the wrong doctor." Zachary chuckled and retorted, "I assure you, I don't have a problem with that certain part of my body."

Cindy's face turned like a beetroot.

"My gastritis is acting up again," Zachary said.

"I'll write a prescription for you, take this acid blocker once a day," she said while she wrote and she looked at Zachary, then went on. "Your diet must be changed, there are things you can't eat for you to be healed... and alcohol intake must be reduced better yet no alcohol at all."

"No alcohol said the doctor who was wasted away because of heartbreak," Zachary said sardonically.

"Mr Brown, we are talking about your health here," she said, trying hard to conceal her exasperation but failed miserably.

"Dr Westland, a doctor must also be healthy so she could perform her work efficiently. Am I right?" Zachary answered without losing his cool.

Cindy could not find an answer to refute him as he had a point.

"Alright, my secretary will give you a booklet. You will find a list of things you should and shouldn't eat. Things you should avoid and things you should do. A nurse will take your blood sample to check the cause of your gastritis. Come back tomorrow," Cindy said in one go.

"Thanks," he said as stood up.

Cindy pressed the intercom and said, "Let the next patient in, Ms Lincoln."

Zachary spun on his heels and said, "By the way, can I have your contact number?"

"Sure," Cindy gave him a card. She agreed right away as she wanted him to leave so she could check her next patient. After Moriah performed a second surgery, she overheard the nurses at the nurse's station talking about her.

"I pity Dr Chen, she has no idea that her husband is having the time of his life in Miami, Florida with his mistress," a nurse sympathetically said.

Moriah squared her shoulder and walked past the nurse's station. The nurses were stupefied to see her pass by.

"Oh, no she must have heard us talking about her," one of the nurses said in panic.

Moriah didn't look back as tears already pooled in her eyes, making her vision blurry. She tried to blink back the tears, but failed miserably. Waterworks had already begun. She nodded her head down so no one could see her crying. She didn't even spare a glance at her secretary who greeted her. She closed the door behind her and locked it so no one would see her crying.

She took her phone and started to search on the internet about her husband's so-called rendezvous in Miami, Florida. The news article: "UK Business Mogul, Having the Time of His Life with His Lover"

After admitting that he was already married, Ethan Miller was seen sunbathing at one of his beach resorts in Miami, Florida with his lover Hazel Morris.

Moriah didn't read the whole article and looked at the photos.

Hazel, wearing a bikini, was latched on Ethan's arm who was only wearing a boardshort as they walked towards the beach.

The other photo was of them sunbathing. They used separate sun loungers however, she couldn't see their full expression as they wore sunglasses. The only clue was their lips, while Hazel was smiling from ear to ear, on the contrary not a trace of a smile could be seen on his lips.

Even so, the pain she felt wouldn't relent. After an hour of licking her wounds, drawing a long, steadying breath, Moriah walked into the washroom and washed her face.

Cindy was observing Moriah, who was listlessly looking at the glass in her hand while she sat on the couch.

"Hey, is there anything that bothers you?" Cindy asked Moriah and sat next to her, then hugged her.

"There's news about Ethan and Hazel that is now a sensation on the internet," she took her phone and showed her the news.

"Ethan is a real jerk," Cindy was fuming after she read the news and saw the photos.

"Why don't you divorce him now? You've got enough evidence against him," she angrily said as she didn't want Moriah to suffer.

"I can't, dad and mom told me not to divorce him and give this marriage a chance," Moriah could barely speak as her throat was tight, tightening as her chest constricted.

"But you've got to get your life back. Ethan was having the time of his life while you are silently suffering," Cindy felt that life was too unfair to Moriah.

"No matter what, I can't divorce him," Moriah sobbed, she couldn't hold back anymore.

It was Cindy's first time hearing Moriah sob. All those years they were together she had never seen her cry.

"Tell me, do you love Ethan?"

Moriah looked at Cindy and nodded, admitting what she felt for her husband.

"Oh, Moriah," Cindy consolingly hugged Moriah.

"I didn't know when and how it happened as we didn't spend much time together," Moriah said as she wiped her face. "When did you realize that you already love him?"

"That night in your apartment when we had our makeover," fresh tears began to roll down her cheeks again as she remembered what Ethan did to her that night.

She felt like a beggar begging for his love. Begging him to at least throw a morsel of love to a love starving wife she was.

She could now be identified with those who experienced a one sided love. She could empathize with those experiencing an unrequited love as she herself knew the pain.

"So, what are you going to do now? Are you going to confront him?"

"Can you promise me that you will never tell him or anyone that I love him?" Moriah feared that if Ethan come to know that she loves him, he will even more torture her and will use it as his trump card.

"You can count on me."
