Heartache

Heartache
Evans walked out of the house after Nathan told him he was at the front of his granny’s gate.

He wore his sandals and rushed out, but stopped before he could open the gate.

“Stay calm, Evans. Don't show a sign.” He muttered, then walked out of the gate only to find the most handsome man he had ever seen.

Evans stood dumbstruck as he looked at the tall man leaning on his car with his hands in his pockets. He still had his work suit on and he looked just like a deity who wasn't supposed to mix with humans.

As if he had noticed the intense gaze on him, Nathan looked up and met the fervent gaze of Evans, his eyes were so hot that he couldn't act like he didn't see it.

He raised his brows and stood up straight then walked at a large step toward him and only stopped when he was just an inch away from the dazed Evans. As he looked at the young man’s cute face, he couldn't help but lean down to kiss his pink lips.

“What’re you thinking about?” He asked in his usual calm but low voice which snapped Evans out of his daze.

Evans' eyes flashed with embarrassment and he shifted his eyes away while rubbing the back of his neck, “Nothing.”  He muttered loud enough for the taller man to hear, then turned to look at him with curiosity, “Why have you decided to come?”

Nathan smirked at his red ears, his itchy fingers rubbed against each other but he still couldn't resist the adorable ears, so he raised his fingers to Evans pink ear and pinched it.

“You—”

He pointed his fingers at Nathan after feeling the pain in his ear, but couldn't finish the words after seeing the laughter in Nathan’s eyes.

He sighed, then slapped the paws on his ear away, “So childish!” He muttered, then turned around to walk inside expecting the taller man to follow but he frowned after he didn't hear footsteps.

He turned around and realised Nathan had walked back to his car and brought out bags of things.

Evans became speechless as he watched him lock his car and walk back towards him with the bags of things in his hands.

He gulped nervously “Why did you get things?!” he asked. “You shouldn't have bothered...” His voice softened at the end of his words.

“I didn't get it for you. Let's go in, you don't want to keep your granny waiting, right?” Nathan responded, then walked ahead.

Evans fist secretly clenched, he lowered his head in deep thought and choked on his spit. He didn't know if Nathan understood what he was doing, he was acting like a real boyfriend, but Evans couldn't get excited, he couldn't muster that smile at all.

The thought that he had been doing this for Jesse for a long time, and also the fact that his real boyfriend was coming back just ruined his good mood.

“Why think about this now, Evans? Just place your mind on granny today, and forget any other distractions.” he muttered to himself, then regained his composure before rushing to follow the man.

They walked silently, and Nathan couldn't help but frown after seeing how dilapidated the house was. He had no idea how the old woman was able to live in a place like this. He turned to look at the Evans whose head was bowed as he walked and noticed how he didn't look uncomfortable and he looked like he was used to this kind of lifestyle.

The way Evans acts sometimes makes him doubt whether he really grew up in a wealthy family. He behaves more like a pauper.

His lips parted to ask questions but he decided not to as he needed to respect his privacy.

They both walked inside with Evans being the nervous one as he kept on looking at Nathan’s face to check if he was in anyway uncomfortable, while Nathan on the other hand looked relaxed and calm as he greeted granny.

Nathan wasn't unfamiliar with Granny as he was a frequent visitor to the Hart house.

“How could I not remember you? You’re Nathan, right? Young master Jesse’s boyfriend.” Granny said loudly with a big smile on her face after Nathan asked if she could remember him.

The smile on Evans face became stiff after the words of his granny. He swallowed hard and with his head lowered, walked towards the kitchen, but their next conversation hurt even more.

“Yes, Grandma, you got it right. Sorry, I came without prior notice.” Nathan said calmly then dropped the bag of things he brought along.

“Oh! You shouldn't have, son. How’s your lover? Since I left the Hart family, I haven't seen the eldest young master.” Granny sighed and pulled Nathan’s hand to sit on a neat couch.

Nathan couldn't help but frown when he noticed the difference in how the granny reffered to both brothers, but he responded, anyways.

“Jesse has been busy with his work and he's fine.” He then raised his head to check on Evans but he frowned when he didn't see him.

Granny who noticed his gaze smiled, “Are you looking for him? He’ll be in the kitchen. We were baking before you came in.”

The Evans whom both were talking about had his head bowed as he sat on his granny’s little stool.

His palms covered his face and his body trembled terribly but no sound could be heard from him.

His heart felt like it was being torn apart, his eyes felt hot and his head ached. The urge to vomit out his guts filled him as his stomach rolled with disgust, but he endured, he couldn't let them know or see him this way.

Tears slid out the middle of his fingers.

“Nathan…Nathan!” He called out quietly with his trembling voice.

His heart ached so much. Though he was aware that Nathan still considers Jesse his boyfriend, the fact that he admitted it without caring about his feelings just made everything clear.

Evans could never replace Jesse in the heart of Nathan!

Evans suddenly smiled, then his eyes flashed with different emotions, but then, they became firm.

“I think it's time to come out of my little world.”
