Chapter 41 Chapter 41
Chapter 41 Chapter 41
When they arrived at the mansion, she didn't know why, but she somehow felt nervous. Was it because their marriage had improved? And they had developed genuine feelings for each other? That's probably why she's now worried about how her father-in-law will react.
“Hey, is everything okay?”
She blinked when she heard Evan's voice and felt his warm hand against hers. She looked at him, who was sitting next to her, and they were about to get out of the car.
“Is something bothering you, hmm?” Evan asked softly, and he gently kissed her shoulder. Maybe it was his way of comforting her, letting her know he was right there with her and she wasn't alone in this.
“I'm okay, don't worry,” she replied, smiling at him and tapping his hand, which was holding hers.
“That's good. Don't overthink everything. Whatever you're worried about, we’ll handle it together,” Evan said softly, then brought her hand to his lips and kissed it.
She bit her lower lip. She still couldn't believe her heartless boss was so warm and considerate.
She smiled and took his hand. “We should get out and go inside,” she whispered as she moved closer to Evan.
Evan's breath grew heavy, and his shoulder rose and fell.
“Oh god, why can't I control myself every time you're near me?” Evan whispered, pulling her closer.
She gasped. Their lips were only inches apart.
“Evan, the driver and the maids are waiting, we should go,” she whispered. She bit her lip again as Evan's hands slipped inside her clothes and cupped her breast.
Evan growled. “Fuck! You have such soft, firm breasts, I badly want to suck on them,” Evan whispered in her ear before lowering his head to smell her breath.
She felt goosebumps all over her body as Evan's warm breath touched her skin.
“Evan… We can't…” she whispered, catching her breath.
Evan lifted his head and looked into her eyes, her lips parted.
“Your mind may deny it, but your body aches for my touch and kiss, doesn’t it?” Evan asked, holding her chin.
She lowered her gaze, since what he was telling was the truth.
“Evan?!” she exclaimed when Evan suddenly carried her to his lap and held her tiny waist tightly as if he was aching to do it.
“Shhh, don't be so loud, they might hear us,” Evan whispered to her ear, which made her lips part.
“We should stop. This is risky,” she said and held Evan's shoulder.
“No risk, no fun, is it?” Evan stated and gave her a naughty smile as he pulled her to claim her lips.
She closed her eyes firmly and accepted him willingly. And she even kissed him back, and put her hands on his neck to deepen the kiss. They both stopped when they heard a knock from outside.
“I think we should get out, and continue this later,” Evan said and chuckled. She couldn't help but laugh and get off his lap.
Evan gets out of the car first and then he opens the door for her, which warms her heart.
“Thank you,” she sincerely said.
“Finally you decided to go home,” a cold voice from behind stated.
She froze and clung to Evan's hand tightly. If she's not mistaken it was Evan’s father.
“How could you leave without informing me?” Evan's father added and walked towards them.
Evan Adam's apple goes up and down, and he gently pushes her behind him, as if he were trying to defend her if ever his father would blame her as well.
“Is this the effect of marrying a lowly secretary? You lose your mind and just go as you want, as if you don't have any responsibility to take care of, as the CEO of our company?” Evan's father stated furiously.
“Is this how you will welcome me?” Evan asks coldly.
“And don't you dare criticize my wife. Although she wasn't born rich, at least she doesn't covet another man and ruin her family. She is far better than your current wife, Dad. So don't lecture me as if you are better than me, it's disgusting,” Evan added and held her hand tightly.
“You? Ungrateful son?! How dare you insult me like this? Just to defend that lowly secretary of yours?” Evan's father said and pointed at her, his eyes darkened as they met hers.
“She's just my secretary anymore. She's my wife and you don't have the right to insult her!” Evan declared firmly.
“That woman had brainwashed you! You have never acted this way before! You're getting bolder and bolder because of her! You should divorce her, Evan, and marry Elaine instead!” Evan Fathers said.
“I'm like this with or without her, Dad. You never have my respect as your son. Since you don't deserve any of it–”
“Evan! You should say that to your father,” Evan's stepmother suddenly said.
“Shut up! This is a family matter and you are not part of our family–”
“Evan! How dare you disrespect your mother–”
“I told you, she's not my mother and she will never be!” Evan said firmly and then he pulled her hand and they walked back to the car.
“Evan, come back here! I'm done talking to you!” Evan's father said, trying to get Evan's attention, but Evan didn't turn around. He just keeps walking until he opens the door for her, and she immediately gets in without question.
“Sir, where are we going?” the driver asks when they are inside the car.
“In my pen house,” Evan replied, and then he rested his head on the backrest of the car's chair and massaged its forehead.
While she holds his hand and squeezes it. Letting him know she was just there with him.
“I’m sorry–” They both blurted out, and then Evan sighed.
“Starting today we should not go there. Our home will be at my penthouse for the meantime,” Evan softly said.
“I hope it's okay with you,” Evan added when she did not answer.
“Of course. As long as l'm with you, everything is fine,” she replied and reached his cheeks and caressed them.
“Thank you for defending me, and I'm sorry if I was the one who caused you to fight with your father,” she said and lowered her gaze.
