Chapter 263
Chapter 263
Michael
When Isabella regained consciousness, Taylor confessed to being both her brother and stalker, claiming she no longer needed to be afraid. She performed brilliantly, convincing Taylor to loosen her restraints so she could drink water. Though my wolf howled for blood, my chest swelled with pride at her cleverness.
Then an alert sounded on Taylor's computer—the tracker in the necklace Richard had given Isabella had been activated.
The confrontation happened in seconds. Taylor lunged for a gun as Richard and Kevin approached the basement door. Gunshots echoed, mixed with Taylor's roars as he fired wildly.
I rushed to Isabella, undoing her restraints and checking for injuries. "Are you hurt?" I asked, my hands roaming over her arms and face, my heart pounding fiercely against my ribs.
"No," she whispered, eyes wide with shock. "Richard—I can smell blood."
Richard and Kevin entered the basement. Richard clutched his shoulder, blood seeping between his fingers. "Just a graze," he assured her with a strained smile. "It'll heal quickly."
Kevin's expression was grim, gun still in hand. Taylor lay motionless on the floor, one bullet in his arm, another in his chest. He died instantly.
"Julian," Isabella gasped, remembering. "Is he okay?"
"He's receiving medical attention," I told her. "He's stable." We'd called an ambulance for Julian before tracking her to Taylor's house.
"Can I see him?" she asked, her voice small.
Kevin nodded. "If it'll make you feel better, we'll go now." Isabella hugged him gratefully, and to my surprise, he hugged her back, his massive arms gentle around her.
Julian would recover physically, though Taylor's betrayal would leave emotional scars. As we left the hospital, I felt a profound sense of completion. Our girl was back with us, the bonds between us stronger than before.
Isabella
The weight of everything felt suffocating. My stalker was my brother. I was adopted. My parents had kept this from me my entire life. Just when I thought I'd processed one shocking revelation, another crashed over me like a tidal wave.
As we drove back to Silver Moon City, I stared out the window of Kevin's SUV, trying to make sense of it all. While I felt hurt by the adoption revelation, I couldn't really be angry with my parents. They loved me unconditionally. But the confusion about my birth mother and brother lingered. What exactly had they wanted to protect me from? Why had it turned my brother into such a mess?
I felt guilty about Julian too. The image of him unconscious, drugged by someone he trusted, wouldn't leave my mind. I should have noticed something off about Taylor. Now Julian was hurt and might never trust easily again.
"I need some time," I told the guys when we got back to the city. "I'm exhausted. I need to process all this." I needed to figure out who the fuck I was now.
They exchanged glances but didn't argue when I asked to return to New Moon Apartments. I needed space to think about what kind of life I wanted. Though their presence comforted me, I couldn't think clearly when surrounded by their intense energy and protective pheromones.
That night, lying alone in my familiar bed, I stared at the ceiling, too tired to sleep but too wired to relax. After weeks with three protective alphas, the silence felt both comforting and oppressive. My wolf whimpered softly, missing the safety their scents and presence provided.
What do I do now? I wondered, pressing the heels of my palms against my eyes. Everyone's been lying to me.
But that wasn't entirely fair. Michael, Richard, and Kevin had come clean. They'd risked their lives to save me. They'd stayed with me through fevers and nightmares. They'd seen me at my worst and hadn't left.
The next morning, I noticed the journal on my nightstand—a gift from Michael, Richard, and Kevin after learning about Taylor. I opened it, staring at the question written on the first page in Michael's elegant handwriting: What kind of life do you want?
I picked up a pen, trying to untangle the knot of emotions. I wanted to feel again. I wanted to be with people who genuinely cared about me. Richard, Michael, and Kevin had repeatedly proven their devotion, even risking their lives for me.
I closed the journal, still uncertain.
By noon, clarity finally came. I couldn't keep running from this question. I had made my choice. I wanted them. I wanted us back together.
Fuck it, I thought, grabbing my phone. Life's too short for this bullshit.
I texted all three, requesting a meeting. Their responses came almost immediately, eager and positive. We arranged to have a quiet dinner at Richard's penthouse.
As the elevator rose to Richard's penthouse, my heart pounded. My palms sweated and my stomach twisted with nerves. What if they'd changed their minds? What if I was too damaged now?
When the elevator doors opened, Richard stood waiting, his expression warm but cautious. He wore a simple black shirt with the sleeves rolled up, exposing muscular forearms. My body immediately responded to the sight, warmth flowing through me.
"Welcome home, dear," he said softly, his eyes searching mine.
As I entered the living room, Michael rose from the couch, his golden eyes warm and flickering. He was dressed more casually, jeans and a green sweater that enhanced the golden flecks in his eyes. "Isabella," he said gently, "how have you been these past few days?"
"Finally feeling some sense of security," I answered honestly, my wolf humming with contentment. And missing you like crazy, I silently added.
Michael's smile widened. "You look breathtaking tonight," he said, pulling me into a warm embrace. I melted against him, savoring the safety his heat and hug provided. The contact made my wolf practically purr.
Kevin appeared from the kitchen with whiskey, deep blue eyes assessing me intently. He wore a dark gray Henley, the fabric stretching across his broad chest, emphasizing his massive build. "You came," his voice, though brief, was warm.
As we settled in the living room, the atmosphere was heavy with unspoken tension. Richard broke the silence first.
"So, what did you want to discuss with us? We're all here, waiting to hear your decision." His red eyes flickered in the soft light, eager but not pressuring.
I took a deep breath. "I've been thinking about what I need... now that the threat is gone..." I paused, collecting my thoughts. "Honestly, I haven't figured everything out, but I know I don't want to keep running from whatever this is between us." My heart hammered against my ribs. Don't fuck this up, I told myself. Just be honest.
Michael's expression brightened. "I'll take that as good news," he said, his face relaxing into pleasure.
Richard nodded, red eyes sparkling with satisfaction. "That's wonderful to hear, dear."
Even Kevin's expression softened slightly, his eyes growing brighter though his posture remained as vigilant as ever.
"I need some ground rules, though," I continued, forcing myself to maintain eye contact despite my nerves. "This is all new to me, and I need to feel like I have some control. Is that okay?" Please don't make me regret this vulnerability.
Richard nodded immediately. "Of course. This relationship belongs to all four of us, not just our expectations."
"Whatever you need, we'll respect and accommodate," Michael added, his voice sincere.
Kevin leaned forward slightly. "We'll respect your pace," he said quietly. "But know this, Isabella—unless you tell us to leave, we're not going anywhere." His blue eyes flickered with determination.
His words settled something inside me, my wolf rumbling with satisfaction. The evening gradually relaxed, with Michael taking my hand, his warmth spreading through me like honey dissolving in tea.
"You're always safe with us," he promised.
"I believe that," I answered, my wolf agreeing. For the first time, I truly did.
Richard added softly, "We would give everything for you if necessary, including our lives."
Kevin didn't speak, but his expression and posture conveyed the same promise.
For the first time in a long while, I felt like I'd found where I truly belonged. The realization brought tears to my eyes that I quickly blinked away.
When Richard later walked me to the door, he gently touched my arm. "Isabella... thank you for giving us another chance. I promise we'll cherish it."
To my surprise, I found myself initiating a hug, instinctively nuzzling my cheek against his neck in a gesture of wolfish affection. "Thank you for not giving up on me."
As I left, I felt lighter than I had in months. The road ahead wouldn't be easy, but at least I wouldn't walk it alone. Perhaps, I thought with cautious hope, this is what healing feels like.
