Epilogue - Five Years Later

Epilogue - Five Years Later
(Well, everyone, we have reached the end. I hoped you enjoyed it. Thank you to everyone who has read this book.)

Rose

Everyone is together for the first week of summer. We are all at Jayce’s and my place. It is the first time we have all been together in a while. Everyone is so busy with life, work and babies. It is nice for us all to be together.

“Do you think Nora and Sage will be best friends and not just cousins?” Remi asks from beside me, rubbing her massive bump as we watch our two-year-old girls play together in front of us.

“I hope so.” I smile.

It was not planned, but we ended up getting pregnant at the same time. Our daughter, Nora, was born only two days before Sage. It is strange how it all worked out, but I believe fate wanted to make sure our girls had a best friend, one they can rely on like Remi and me.

“Me too.”

I glance over at my gorgeous husband doing his thing at the grill. I swear he gets more handsome with age. He must have felt me staring because he glances over at me and smiles brightly. It is crazy that we have been married for five years already, but to be honest, every day feels like our first day of marriage. It hasn’t been perfect, we have had our moments and arguments, but we always make everything okay.

Nora was a surprise for us. We weren’t planning for a baby, not at least for another year or two, since we were travelling the world and I was writing, but it happened, and we couldn’t have been happier. We haven’t decided if we are going to have another baby, but I think we will. For now, we are enjoying raising Nora. Jayce loves being a daddy. He even considered becoming a stay-at-home dad, but instead cut his work hours. He works two days at the office and one night a week at the club. We love having him around all the time. It also gives me a chance to work on my sixth book. I took a break from writing once Nora came along. I wanted to focus on her. Who knows if this new one will be a best-seller like the rest since I disappeared for a couple of years, but it is fine if it doesn’t. It was fun while it lasted.

Jayce hands the grilling over to his father and strolls over. Nora’s little face lights up, clapping her hands when she sees her daddy come over. She is a daddy’s girl, there is no doubt about that.

“Daddy!” she squeals.

Jayce chuckles and reaches down to scoop her up in his arms. “Hey, my sweet girl.” He coos, tickling her stomach, and she giggles.

“I don’t think it is fair that you are her favourite,” I say, fake pouting.

Laughing, he reaches down to kiss me. “There is no need to pout, pretty eyes.”

I smile, living even after all these years, he still calls me that.

“Yeah, yeah.” I laugh and roll my eyes.

“How are my two girls?” he asks.

“We are fine since the last time you asked us half an hour ago.” I smile.

“You know me, I like to check in all of the time. Are you hungry? Remi, can I get you anything?”

Tanner isn’t here because he had to go away for business, but he will be back home in a couple of hours. Jayce, Tate and Joshua have made sure to take care of her while he has been gone, which I find sweet.

“Yes, please. A cheeseburger with onions and pickles on it, oh and a hot dog too.” She laughs.

“Coming right up? What about you, sweetheart?”

“I will have a burger, please. Can you cut a couple up to cool for the little ones, please?”

Jayce nods, kissing me and places Nora back down to play with Sage.”

He was so good to us. He is the best husband and father we could ask for.

“He is a good man.” Remi smiles.

I nod eagerly. “He is. They all are.”

We are lucky to have landed such amazing men who take care of their wives and children.

“And soon, you will have your little boy to join your family.”

Remi nods eagerly. “Yes, only two months left. Is it not about time you have another one?” she laughs.

“Maybe next year.” I snicker.

She playfully rolls her eyes at me. “Fine! Spoilsport.”

I shake my head and glance around at everyone. I smile because I am so lucky to have so many incredible people in my life. It is so good to see everyone. We need to find a way to do it more. We all come from very different walks of life, yet somehow, even with all the not-so-easy moments over the years, we have become a huge, blended family. One that our children will be lucky to grow up in.

I couldn’t ask for anything more in life. I already have everything I can dream of. An incredible husband, a beautiful daughter, my best friend, my parents, and the rest of the family. I live in a beautiful home with the people most important to me, and I have a career I could never have dreamt of.

What more does a girl need?
