28. Personal Problems.
[Ace]
"What the fuck do you mean?" I couldn't believe my fucking ears.
My father was beating my mother up because he'd found out that one of us wasn't his and that she'd been cheating on him for a long time now.
"You fucking heard me." He snarled and I let go of him.
"That's not true." My mother cried as Caleb stood up from her side.
"Tell me the fucking truth, woman, or do I have to get a test done first?" My father asked her angrily.
"Calm down, father," Caleb said, his voice shaking.
"Father?" He scoffed. "I'm almost sure that you're the product of her infidelity because Ace is definitely my son."
"Dad," I yelled and he stopped.
"Caleb, take mom to the hospital," I told him and he picked her up from the floor and carried her away.
"Your mother is a good for nothing harlot, she's a sl—"
"You say one more word against my mother and I'll forget that you're my father." I grabbed him by the collar and glared at him.
"At least I don't need to confirm that you're my son, I already know." He said and tapped my shoulder.
"It doesn't matter, we should know the truth, we can meet them at the hospital then get the DNA test done, it's the first thing you should have done before coming here and beating her up, what if she's saying the truth." I frowned at him.
"I admit that I lost my temper but who wouldn't, I give her everything she wants, anything she asks for, still I find out that she's been cheating on me." He frowned and I noticed that he looked defeated. I didn't think my parents were in love but if I didn't know better I'd say he was pretty heartbroken about the situation.
"She's been lonely, you never come home anymore and you don't let her come to you." I sighed, I wasn't happy about what my mother had done but I couldn't deny that my father had also played a role there.
"It's because I'm busy, dammit, I work very hard to provide you, your brother, and her with this life, this life of luxury, and what do I get in return, fucking disloyalty." He yelled.
"Well did you stop to think that maybe we didn't want this life, this luxury bullshit, you think we would ever pick a life of luxury over spending quality time with you?" I yelled back.
"Fuck is wrong with you boy, what the fuck do you know about life, you're just a little shit, you know nothing."
"Well, then I'm fucking done here then, meet me at the hospital or not, your fucking choice, who knows you might not even be my fucking father."
"Watch you fucking mouth boy, I'm still your father and you will respect me as such." He grabbed me and shoved me into the wall and before I recovered, he landed a heavy blow to my face, splitting my lip and bruising my cheek.
"Father." I stood up chuckling then I licked the blood from the corner of my mouth and shook my head.
A father indeed, I packed my stuff and headed to the hospital, after a while my father also came and we went to get a paternity test done.
My father wanted thorough confirmation so he made them send samples to multiple hospitals and we were told it would take a few days to weeks to get back the results.
"He's right, you know," Caleb said as we left the hospital, our mother was admitted and she was currently under sedation.
"About what?"
"He might not be my father." He said.
"Caleb, that's—"
"No, it's okay, I don't mind if he's not my father since we have the same mother, we'll always be brothers right?"
"Of course." Tears welled up in my eyes and my throat tightened as I pulled my brother in for a hug. "No matter what, you'll always be my brother, Caleb."
"He did this to you, didn't he?" He pulled back and examined my swelling face.
"It's nothing."
"He's a terrible father, you know?"
"They're both terrible parents," I said and he nodded.
"That's why we don't need them." He added.
"Of course, I'll always be here for you."
"So will I."
"Do you mind telling me what the buzz is about you and the nerd junior at school?" Caleb asked, changing the subject.
"She has a name." I snapped but I couldn't help but smile as I thought of Emily.
"Right, Emily Chesterfield." He smiled. "She's becoming something of a celebrity in school these days, even Vicky is feeling threatened."
"Don't even talk about that, all Vicky cares about is the crown and she'll win it with or without me besides Emily doesn't care about the crown."
"Yeah, women are very complicated creatures, I'm glad I don't have to deal with them." He said and I chuckled.
"You have no fucking idea."
"Vicky wants a king though and she sure doesn't like the rumor going around that you might belong to someone else other than her."
"Stop talking nonsense Caleb, I don't belong to anyone and I could care less about what Vicky wants, she can go fuck herself."
"But you do care about what Emily wants don't you?" He asked and I sighed.
"It's not like that, Caleb, she needs my help and I'm just helping her."
"Oh, I know that." He chuckled, he certainly didn't get that. "But do you like her though?"
"She's different, not at all my type, but I can't deny that I find her tempting," I answered.
"So it's just the chase, the fuck." He asked sadly, Caleb wanted me to give up the chase, he wanted me to find someone to settle with, he was a hopeless romantic.
I'd never had a girlfriend before and honestly, I wished that I'd fall in love and belong to one person who would belong to me too but I doubted that would ever happen.
