Chapter 32 CHAPTER 32

Chapter 32 CHAPTER 32
MICHELLE

“Arghhhh,”

Pain shot through my head as I tried to get off the bed. My feet wobbled like jellybeans as I struggled to steady myself.

I can’t believe Andrea let me drink to a stupor when he knew we would be travelling today. Last night was amazing, Andrea’s reassuring love for me, and even though he knew he already had a surprise planned out for me just a few days after our anniversary, he still treated me to a movie last night.

Lisa was right. I was damn lucky. Because every day with Andrea felt like Valentine’s.

As I walked through the mansion, everywhere seemed eerily quiet, and only my footsteps could be heard.

I went to Andrea’s room first, and even though he doesn’t like people being in his personal space, I needed to get him awake, but that was when it dawned on me that everywhere was dark.

My brows arched in confusion as my body felt tired. I stopped for a moment and walked towards the huge clock in the room, and the time read 10 p.m. I closed my eyes before snapping them open… Was time now moving in reversal? It was past 11 when Andrea and I started the movie.

I rushed back upstairs, but Andrea’s room was locked. And even the room we usually made out in. Anger shot through my veins as I made my way towards that bitch’s room. Andrea can’t be in her room, right?

I pushed her door, but it didn’t budge. Hers was locked too. The pain I felt returned as I grabbed my head, crumpling to my knees.

“Rosa! Rosa!” I screamed as the pain got unbearable. “Anyone there?” I asked, seeing a faint silhouette in the shadows, but it was unmoving.

“Argh,” I screamed again as I held my waist, watching as the figure didn’t budge towards me. “Come here this instant,” I hissed. “Or I swear if I get out of here… I will have you fired.”

Its teeth flashed before it finally walked away. That person must be a bastard. “Aren’t you listening?” I called after it, but it didn’t turn back.

My body felt numb as my eyes began to close. But I didn’t let them. I needed to find out for sure where my fiancé and that bitch were. Why weren’t either of them in their rooms?

I held onto the stairs tightly as I started moving, careful not to mis-move, as that might cause my legs to give out.

But as I continued, I couldn’t walk any farther as I collapsed on a stair, and everything went black.

My mind was a fog as I tried to make sense of everything. I almost thought all I had was a dream, but I woke up to the same reality, seated by the staircase.

The sun pierced through the transparent windows now, as the birds chirped happily.

My head wasn’t hurting as much now as I walked my way into the kitchen, gulping down a bottle of water.

The first lady to enter the kitchen, the one I recognised as the woman who tasted our meals, looked pale as a ghost as she dropped the basket of vegetables she was holding.

“You… you awake,” she jabbed as she bent to pick the items that were now littered on the floor.

“Am I supposed to be dead?” I hissed back, returning her snide remark.

“Where’s Rosa?” I asked, walking away from her, careful not to stain myself with her poverty and misfortune.

She was about to say something when Rosa and two other ladies walked into the kitchen, their faces bearing the same hint of shock.

“G… good morning, ma’am,” Rosa bowed, and the rest followed suit.

“Where’s Andrea?” I asked.

They all looked at one another as if my question was some sort of puzzle.

“Are you all deaf!” I snapped, shattering the glass in my hand.

“Sir Andrea left for business,” Rosa stated, her voice croaked.

My blue eyes widened in disbelief as a small chuckle left my lips. She must be mistaken. I asked where my fiancé was, not that loose girl.

“He had to leave early,” she added.

My memories flooded back. I could remember clearly what happened last night, and Andrea wasn’t in his room. What’s today’s date? I asked slowly, hoping everything was just in my head, that my paranoia was getting the best of me one last time.

“Sa… Saturday, ma’am,” Rosa added, her voice barely above a whisper.

This had to be a dream. I shook my head in shock as I pushed them out of my way, running into my room to get my phone. I swiped the screen, and yes, Rosa was right—today was Saturday…

I threw my head back as I laughed, a tear escaping my eyes. I slapped my cheeks simultaneously, desperately wanting to wake up from this nightmare.

Tell me how one would sleep on a Thursday and wake up on a Saturday?

Wait… It couldn’t be that Andrea drugged me, right? Was this the reason he wanted us to have a marathon movie night? Did he really plan on cancelling our trip?

I picked up my phone to call Andrea before I lost it for real, but his line wasn’t going through. I tried countless times until my phone eventually went off.

A loud scream ripped through my throat as I walked out of my room. “Can someone explain what the fuck is going on here?” I hissed.

“Calm down, ma’am,” Rosa got closer. “Sir Andrea was afraid you might react this way, and that was why he left without your notice.”

My jaw clenched, and I felt my nails draw blood from my skin. How dare this old hag tell me to calm down.

I laughed again. This scene was going to be a killer in any movie. The boyfriend drugs his girlfriend to avoid telling her about a business trip… Wow, what a twist.

I then turned around. Okay, maybe everything could be forgiven, but…

“Where’s Emilia?” I asked, hoping she was just somewhere in this mansion and not out with Andrea.

But Rosa’s eyes told me whatever I was thinking was right.
