Vincent noticed Chloe staring at him and subtly raised an eyebrow.
Even without considering his role as the CEO of Harrison Group, his looks alone attracted a lot of unwanted attention from women, which he found quite annoying.
Emily nudged Chloe gently, reminding her, "Why are you just standing there?"
Chloe snapped out of it and quickly composed herself. "Mr. Harrison, hello. I'm Chloe. I've been with the Harrison Group headquarters for less than a year."
With a simple yet confident introduction, Chloe spoke more assuredly than the others.
"Chloe?" Vincent repeated the name to himself, feeling a sense of familiarity.
Vincent glanced at Chloe again. She was no longer staring at him, which made her more agreeable. He instructed, "Let her stay."
Emily acknowledged with a "Yes" and then led the three out of the office. She told Chloe, "Chloe, go move your things to the executive assistant's office."
"Okay." Chloe returned to her desk to pack her personal belongings.
Working next to the president meant at least double the salary. All three had been selected through rounds of competition, each hoping to seize this valuable opportunity.
The opportunity ultimately fell to the least experienced Chloe, leaving the other two somewhat resentful.
However, Seraphina quickly realized this was wrong. Chloe's abilities were evident, and it wouldn't be fair to deny her just because she was less experienced and younger.
She smiled and gave Chloe a hug, "Chloe, congratulations!"
Chloe replied, "Thank you!"
David, on the other hand, wasn't as gracious and sarcastically remarked, "Seraphina, you should learn from this. It's not just about strong work abilities; you also need to know how to charm people."
He didn't name names, so whoever responded would seem guilty, thinking Chloe couldn't do anything about it.
Chloe looked at him, her gaze turning icy. "David, do you think you can just badmouth Mr. Harrison like that?"
With that one sentence, David got the message loud and clear, and he turned pale with fear.
Seraphina also chimed in, "David, slandering a girl just because she's better than you makes you look really incompetent."
"Seraphina, I'll head over now." Chloe looked at Seraphina gratefully and walked away with her box.
When Chloe arrived at the executive assistant's office, Emily scrutinized her for a moment. She kindly said, "Mr. Harrison chose you today, but whether you can stay by his side long-term depends on your abilities."
Lowering her voice slightly, as if in warning, she added, "Remember, Mr. Harrison despises subordinates who have personal designs on him. Don't ruin your future."
Vincent never appeared in front of the media, so the public didn't know what he looked like, yet he consistently topped the list of the most desirable men to marry in Skyhaven for years.
Chloe had no inappropriate thoughts about Vincent, but saying so might not convince others. Performing well at work would be more effective than any explanation.
She said, "Thank you for the reminder, Emily. I'll be careful."
Seeing her good attitude, Emily's gaze softened. "I'll hand over the work to you now."
Although the Harrison Group's presidential secretariat had many members, only two executive assistants worked closely with him: Emily and Leo Davis, each with different responsibilities.
Emily was more like a personal assistant, handling not just work but also daily life.
The secretariat needed to know the president's personal preferences, habits, taboos, and so on, and Chloe had long committed them to memory.
Emily and Chloe spent the entire morning going over the work, and in the afternoon, Chloe would have to face Vincent alone.
After the lunch break, Chloe prepared an authentic iced Americano and knocked on the president's office door. A deep, pleasant male voice came from inside, "Come in."
Chloe pushed the door open and entered. Vincent was sitting at his desk, reading documents.
Chloe placed the coffee thirty centimeters to his left, saying lightly, "Mr. Harrison, our sit-down with Future Life is at 2:10 P.M., in like, ten minutes."
Without looking up, Vincent reached out and accurately picked up the coffee, taking a sip, "Got it."
Cut to ten minutes later, and Vincent, flanked by Chloe and Leo, strutted into the meeting room.
During the meeting, Leo was responsible for taking notes while Chloe prepared the materials the president needed.
Vincent spoke very little, mostly listening to his subordinates and the other party. When he did interject, he always hit the key points.
With a simple gesture or a change in his expression, Chloe knew exactly what he needed and promptly handed over the required materials.
Their teamwork was a freaking symphony, flawless to the point that Leo was shook. If he hadn't known any better, he'd swear Chloe had been in cahoots with Mr. Harrison for ages.
Post a marathon of three hours, the meeting wrapped up without a hitch, and the trio headed back to the grindstone. But just as they were about to dive into what's next, Vincent's cell buzzed.
On the line, Donna's voice, frail but demanding, flowed in: "Vincent, now that you're back, you need to bring your wife home. She can't keep living alone outside. If you don't bring her back, I'll die at Valley Resort and won't return."
Vincent adjusted the silver-rimmed glasses on his nose, replying, "Even if you hadn't mentioned it, I was planning to pick her up today."
Donna, suddenly forgetting her feigned illness, raised her voice several notches in excitement, "I'll send you her address. You must pick her up after work!"
Vincent agreed and hung up, then listened to Chloe and Leo's work reports.
To everyone's surprise, instead of the work deets, Vincent threw them a curveball, asking, "What should I get ready for before I meet a girl?"
Having worked with Vincent for many years, Leo spoke more casually, "That depends on what kind of girl you're meeting."
Vincent smiled, "My wife."
When they registered their marriage last year, the Harrison Group's overseas branch had some issues. Right after completing the marriage registration, he headed straight to the airport, which had kept him busy for a year.
During that stretch, she hadn't reached out to him, and he was caught up in his own hustle to make the first move. If Donna hadn't stayed on his case, he might've blanked he even had a ring on his finger.
Now that Vincent was back, he intended to live well with her and make up for the past year.
Leo knew that his boss had registered his marriage with a woman a year ago, but since the boss hadn't contacted her, he thought it was just to appease the family elders.
Now, it seemed that wasn't the case.
Leo suddenly remembered something. He asked curiously, "Mr. Harrison, did you spend thirty million dollars at Lurigang to buy a necklace called 'Eternal Star' just to give it to your wife?"
Vincent gave him a confirming look, "I'm asking you a question."
Being solo and never having dipped his toes in relationship waters, Leo was no love guru. "Dropping thirty mil on a necklace? You pretty much got the big guns covered."
Vincent looked at Leo coldly, making him shiver. Leo quickly pushed Chloe forward, saying, "Mr. Harrison, if you want to know what young girls like, you should ask a young girl."
