Chapter 143 Chapter 143
Chapter 143 Chapter 143
Greer’s POV
I stared at her for a long moment, feeling a strange, calm strength settle over me. The woman who had attacked me at the trade fair, who had helped orchestrate my public humiliation, who had tried to kill me multiple times, now sat powerless behind glass.
“You’re pathetic, Indira,” I said quietly, my voice steady. “All that hatred, all those schemes, and for what? You lost everything. Your reputation, your business, your freedom. And I’m still here. Still blooming. Still building something real. You tried to destroy me, but you only made me stronger.”
She laughed bitterly, the sound harsh and broken. “Enjoy it while it lasts, Greer. The world saw what you really are. A homewrecker. A disgrace. Carrying your stepfather’s bastard child. You’ll never escape that shame.”
I didn’t flinch. “Maybe. But I’ll raise my child with love. With truth. Something you and Veda will never understand. Goodbye, Indira.”
I stood up and walked away without looking back. Her laughter followed me down the corridor, but it no longer had power over me.
Then I went to see Veda.
She was in a separate cell, sitting with her back straight, still trying to maintain that elegant posture even in prison. When she saw me, her eyes filled with pure hatred. But there was something else there too — a flicker of something almost broken.
I sat down and picked up the phone. For a long moment, we just stared at each other.
“Why?” I finally asked, my voice steady but emotional. “Why did you hate me so much? I was your daughter.”
Veda’s lips curled into a sneer. “You stopped being my daughter the moment you stole Calder from me. The moment you became more successful than me. You took my spotlight. My husband. My life. I gave you everything, and you repaid me by destroying it all.”
I felt tears sting my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. “I never wanted to destroy you. I just wanted to live my own life. To be happy. But you tried to kill me. Multiple times. You burned down Cassey’s house. You tried to ruin me at the ball. You’re my mother, and you wanted me dead.”
Veda laughed coldly. “And I’d do it again if I could. You were never supposed to shine brighter than me.”
I stood up slowly, looking at her one last time. “Then I pity you. Because I’m going to live a full, beautiful life. With Calder. With our child. And you’ll rot here knowing you failed.”
I walked away without another word. Veda’s screams followed me down the corridor, but they no longer hurt me.
I was free.
The day of the court hearing arrived like the final, heavy chapter in a long and painful story.
The moment I walked in with Calder and Cassey, Veda’s eyes locked onto me with pure, unfiltered hatred.
Veda, Indira, and Wells stood in the dock, ready to receive their judgement. The atmosphere in the courtroom was thick with tension. She suddenly lunged forward, trying to rush at me, her face twisted with madness. Security guards quickly restrained her as she screamed at the top of her lungs.
“I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you, you little whore! You ruined everything! You stole my life!”
She kept yelling, thrashing against the guards, her voice echoing through the silent courtroom. It was clear to everyone present that Veda had completely lost her mind. She was mad. Truly, deeply mad. The woman who had once been my mother was now a broken, vengeful shell of herself, consumed by jealousy and rage.
I sat in the courtroom between Calder and Cassey, my hand resting protectively over my slightly rounded belly. The pregnancy was no longer a secret, and I felt both vulnerable and strong as I faced this moment. Cassey held my other hand tightly, offering silent support. Calder’s presence beside me was solid and reassuring, his arm occasionally brushing mine as if to remind me I wasn’t alone.
The judge’s voice cut through the chaos, stern and authoritative. He delivered the sentences with finality.
Indira was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for her role in the harassment, the video tampering at the Royal Business Ball, the framing for fraud, and the multiple attempts on my life. She stood there with a cold, defiant expression, but her shoulders slumped slightly as the reality sank in.
Veda was sentenced to a psychiatric hospital for immediate evaluation and treatment. Once deemed mentally fit, she would serve fifteen years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder, arson, and other serious charges. She continued screaming and struggling as the guards led her away.
Wells was charged with kidnapping and several related offenses. He was sentenced to ten years in prison and ordered to attend a correctional center specifically for his dangerous obsession toward me. He looked at me one last time as he was taken away, his expression unreadable.
The gavel came down, and it was finally over.
Calder and I hugged in public for the first time, his strong arms wrapping around me protectively right there in the courtroom as the world watched. It felt liberating. No more hiding. No more secrets. Just us, choosing each other openly after everything had been stripped away.
Outside the court gate, reporters, the public, and media waited in a frenzy. Cameras flashed rapidly as we stepped out. My fans had gathered in large numbers, holding signs and chanting my name in support. Many expressed sorrow for everything I had been through, the public humiliation, the assassination attempts, the betrayal by my own mother. Their support warmed my heart and gave me strength.
I stood tall beside Calder, Cassey on my other side, feeling stronger than I had in a long time. The nightmare was finally over.
I was free to bloom.
Two months had passed since the court hearing that finally brought some measure of justice. Those weeks had been both healing and challenging. The public scandal had slowly faded from the headlines as new stories took over, but the support from my genuine fans and well-wishers had never wavered. Lumina Bloom had continued to grow stronger despite everything, and today was the day I had been dreaming of for so long, the official launch of my flagship store.
I stood outside the beautiful three-storey building, my heart full as I took in the sight. The crisp white exterior gleamed under the sunlight, making the store stand out elegantly in the upscale district. Through the large glass windows, the soft lemon yellow and gentle pink interior colors I had chosen looked warm and inviting. It was exactly as I had envisioned it as a true home for Lumina Bloom, a space where women could come and feel seen, empowered, and beautiful.
