Chapter 44 Chapter 44

Chapter 44 Chapter 44

Dominic's Pov

I toyed with the possibility of Liana having a child for me. It seemed impossible, stupid even. It can't be her.I would have known something.

“It can't be her,” I said, loudly this time.

“Be who?” mum asked, completely lost but I didn't give her a response.

“What if it actually is?” She was the one person who could keep such a secret from me, judging by the number of secrets she already kept. What if this was her child? And what if she actually knew mum was my mother and had intentionally planted that girl there so that it would get to me. But no, if she wanted to use a child against me she would have done that already. She has done a lot of harm already, why hide this one? Was this her last straw? The last card she wanted to use to win this game? Well, poor girl. It's game over for her.

I collapsed into the chair. My legs and arms felt numb. "There's no need for a DNA test," I grumbled. "That child… she's my own."

My mum stretched across the table and took my hand. "So what are you going to do?"

What was I going to do? My life has been fire and wreckage for the past few weeks. Scandal, lies, an upcoming lawsuits. And now this? A daughter?

It was too big. Too unreal. Too surprising.

And yet, I couldn't look the other way.

"I have to see her," I finally gasped.

“You still haven't said anything. Meet who Dom?”

“Liana.”

She froze. “The same Liana?” I nodded. “It can't be. Liana wouldn't hide something like this from you. I know she has been all around the place in the last few months and I can't exactly blame her but I don't think she would hide your child from you. I mean, if she gave birth in your house, you would have known. There would have been signs.”

“Excatly why I am confused.”

“It can't be, Dom. It's probably one of your flings.”

“Well, we won't know if we don't ask. First thing in the morning, I am going to see Liana.”

She didn't look like she approved but she didn't object either. “Well, your job is to find the mother. Liana or not, I am glad I have a grand child. And I must say Dom, you're something. See how see looks like you.” She blushed.

“MOM!”

"Don't mind me, you need to know everything," she said. "You need to find out everything because right now, everything has changed."

And in the silence afterward, all I could hear was the ring of that girl's laughter in my head—a laughter I'd never even heard, yet somehow already knew by heart. I don't know what Liana is hiding, but day break is 3 hours away and coming with it would be the answer to my questions.

……..

I didn't close my eyes, immediately my 6am alarm rang, I jumped out of bed and headed to the shower. It was time to go and face Liana and the cockroaches in her cupboard. Taking a quick bath, I put on a simple white T-shirt and black palms and headed for the door. I stopped by the shoe rack, slipped into my slides and headed for the stares.

Downstairs, I met mum in the kitchen with a cup of coffee in her hand.

“where are you running off too?”

“To find my daughter.”

“Where exactly?” she asked, narrowing her eyes.

“I will find out.” She tried to say something but I acted faster. Rushing towards her, I gave her a peg and rushed for the door.

“At least, have breakfast…” she called after me but I was already out of the door.

…….

As I approached Liana's residence, my breath hitched. Was I making a mistake? The last thing I would want is to make a fool of myself. But if I want to know my child, this is the only option I have.

I matched the accelerator and sped towards Mile 12, Crescent estate before I had a chance to change my mind. Five minutes later, I stood face to face with the elegant building. The driveway was lined with roses and lilies, she always loved those flowers. She had requested I plated them in the house back then but I wasn't cut out for that. I vehemently refused and now I couldn't help but wonder if it was actually another man that had gotten it done. Just the 8thought of that made my heart skip a beat.

“Focus Dominic! That is none of your business and you don't care, go get your child.” I yelled at myself.

And with that I dropped from the car, slammed the door shut and headed for the door.
