Chapter 105 Chapter 105
Dominic's Pov
I was in the sitting room trying to get some rest. The house was quiet, and my mind drifted like clouds in a colourless sky. I leaned against the sofa, my head thrown back, when suddenly… I heard a thud.
There was a loud crash upstairs. My heart jumped in alarm and I rushed to my feet.
"Serena!" I called out, already scared as I thundered towards the stairs. My footsteps on the tiled floor rang out louder than my own voice.
I took the stairs two at a time only once. I ran up them, fear clutching my chest with each step. The hallway was dark and the air felt thick, as if something was dreadfully wrong. Or maybe it was just my mind.
As I headed towards the bedroom door, it was slightly ajar so I pushed it open.
Serena was on the ground. Curled in a tight ball and seriously shaking. Her arms were clasped over her head, and she was sobbing, her face pressed against the cold tiles.
"Serena!" I rushed to her, my knees striking the floor with a sudden jolt as I collapsed beside her.
She didn't respond. Her shoulders quivered with each breath, and her crying increased, it sounded harsher.
I touched her, placing my palms on her arms, "Hey. hey, I'm here. It's all right. I've got you. Serena, talk to me. What's the matter?"
She didn't respond, she just kept crying. Her body was so small in my arms, so fragile. I hated seeing her this way, she looked so lost and broken.
I slowly raised her up from the ground and led her back toward the bed. She gripped me tightly, soaking my shirt with her tears. Her breath was rapid and her skin was drenched in sweat. She kept trembling like a leaf in the wind.
I laid her on the bed, pulled up the blanket to her chest, and sat beside her. I grasped her hand and held it, holding her and reminding her of my presence. Her cries softened, the shaking lessened but the pain in her eyes didn't fade.
Minutes passed and about thirty minutes later, she finally began to relax. She steadied her breath and her body was no longer tense even though her eyes were still teary and puffy.
"Serena. what happened to you?" I whispered softly. My voice was not much above a whisper. She blinked slowly, staring at the ceiling.
"I... I went to the bathroom. I was fine but then…" She gulped some air and her expression changed as a result of the horror within."Then it all started to whirl around. My head was banging, something was screaming in my ears, but it seemed it was happening inside my head. And then I saw flashes. I saw things. I saw…"
She shook her head, tears welling up at the corners of her eyes. "I don't even know what I saw. It didn't make any sense. It was like it was all mixed up.
I took a deep breath, brushing her wet hair away from her face. "Serena. I believe you're remembering. That is probably the cause of the pains."
She looked at me, her eyes open wide. "I don't know what I'm remembering, Stanley. It's all jumbled up. There are too many things, and I can't grasp any of them. They just flash and then disappear."
"But it's something. That means your memory may be trying to come back," I explained to her gently.
"I don't know if that's a good thing or not," she growled. "Because it hurts so much. My head.
.. it's like it's going to explode."
I nodded, getting up to get her medicine off the nightstand and grabbing a glass of water as well. I handed them both to her.
"Here. Take this, it'll help. Then try to rest a bit. Sleep might calm everything down."
She appeared uncertain, but did take the pills and swallow the water even though her hands was still trembling.
After she swallowed, she rolled back over, tucking herself up again. I stayed beside her, running my fingers over her arm, speaking softly in reassurance.
It did take a while, but eventually she slept. Her breathing regulated, her body finally relaxed. I sat there for a moment or two, just to ensure she was indeed sleeping.
I then slowly stood up, exited the room, and quietly closed the door. I pulled out my phone and called Liana. It rang a few times before she picked up.
"Stanley? Is something wrong?"
I exhaled, stroking my face with my hand. "Not exactly. Serena collapsed. I found her on the floor. She was in distress, shaking and crying.” Liana gasped. “ I got her back in bed, gave her her meds and she's sleeping now."
“What really happened? Is she hurt?” she asked in concern.
"She was attempting to go to the bathroom and she felt dizzy. Said her head was spinning and she started hearing this sound. Then she started seeing things. I think she is having flashbacks of memories, Liana. She had no clue what any of them were but I think she is making progress."
There was a pause on the other line for a second.
"So you think she's remembering things?"
"Perhaps. It's too early to tell. But it definitely shook her."
"Oh God." Liana whispered gently.
"I'll come over. Or do I wait?"
"Let her sleep for the time being. If she wakes up and I need help, I'll call you again. Just be on stand by."
"Certainly."
“How's Cam?”
“She responding to treatment. I will give you the details when we see.”
“Okay, then. See you soon.” I put down the phone and leaned back against the wall, closing my eyes.
I was frightened and worried. But most of all… I just wanted her to be alright. Wake up and know who she was, who we were and how to tackle everything. But now, with her flashes coming in waves of pain, I wasn't sure if remembering would heal her or break her further.
