Chapter 200; Why Is It So Easy to Get Pregnant?

Chapter 200; Why Is It So Easy to Get Pregnant?

Gabriel instinctively turned around, then looked back at Arabella, his handsome face puzzled, his handsome face puzzled. “Who’s here? Did Manuel come back?”

Arabella kept her eyes closed, too tired to wonder how he knew Manuel had brought her home. She replied flatly, “It should be the delivery driver… I ordered some medicine.”

Gabriel's expression improved slightly as he immediately got up to answer the door.

He returned shortly, carrying medicine and heating pads in his hands.

"What kind of medicine is this? Won't taking random pills be bad for your body? You're still breastfeeding..." Gabriel asked while opening the plastic bag, pulling out the medication to see it was pain relievers.

"Pain relievers?"

Arabella sat up and reached toward him, "Give them to me."

"The doctor will be here soon. You should wait and see what he says instead of taking random medication," Gabriel said, worried that pain relievers might mask her condition and delay proper treatment.

Arabella was already suffering from the pain, and seeing the medicine right in front of her but unable to take it made her furious, "Stop pretending to care! If it wasn't for you, would I be suffering like this! Give it to me!"

Her sharp rebuke, though delivered with a pale face and labored breathing, carried undiminished anger and authority, actually startling Gabriel.

"How is your discomfort my fault? How can you blame me for this too?" He was genuinely confused, feeling completely wronged.

Arabella couldn't be bothered arguing with him. She threw off the covers, got out of bed, and snatched the pain medication from him.

But there was no water by the bed, and she couldn't swallow the pills dry, so she prepared to go get some water.

Gabriel stopped her. "You go back and lie down. I'll get the water."

She really didn't want to walk—her legs felt extremely weak, and both her hip joints felt hollow. She reluctantly sat back on the edge of the bed.

Gabriel quickly brought in warm water. Arabella swallowed the pills and lay back down, saying coldly, "Thank you for your concern. You can leave now. I want to sleep."

Gabriel had no intention of listening, but seeing how weak she was, he genuinely felt sorry for her and didn't want to upset her further, so he turned and left the bedroom.

Not long after, Dr. Wood arrived.

"She took pain relievers and should be sleeping now," Gabriel said, leading Dr. Wood toward the bedroom while speaking in low tones. "Will taking those pills cause any problems for her body?"

Dr. Wood explained, "Pain relievers are the most effective treatment for menstrual cramps, but they only treat the symptoms, not the root cause. Let me examine her first, then I can prescribe some medication to help regulate her condition and prevent this from happening again."

"Mm..."

In the bedroom, Arabella was indeed asleep.

However, even in sleep, her delicate eyebrows remained tightly furrowed, and her face was still somewhat pale, not fully recovered.

"Arabella... Arabella?" Gabriel called softly, his gentle, caring demeanor actually startling Dr. Wood.

As the Sterling family's personal physician, Dr. Wood had heard about this couple's relationship dynamic.

How had they gone from being so formally polite in the past to suddenly being so affectionate and loving?

Arabella woke up, opening her eyes with slight confusion. Gabriel immediately explained, "Dr. Wood is here to examine you."

She wanted to say it wasn't necessary, that she was fine now, but faced with Dr. Wood's kind and gentle smile, she felt too embarrassed to refuse and could only sit up partially, leaning against the headboard.

Dr. Wood examined her while asking if she'd experienced this kind of situation before, and whether she'd been tired or under a lot of stress recently.

Arabella answered each question.

Gabriel supplemented from the side, "She had a chemical pregnancy. When we went to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor said it didn't need treatment and wouldn't have any significant impact on her body."

He felt extremely dissatisfied saying this, feeling like they'd been misled by an incompetent doctor.

But Dr. Wood also said, "Chemical pregnancies really don't have much impact on the body. Many women might not even know they've experienced one."

Gabriel was momentarily speechless, not understanding, "Then why did her menstrual cramps suddenly become so severe?"

Arabella lifted her eyelids slightly, glancing at him, then said to Dr. Wood, "Last week, I took emergency contraception... the side effects might be quite severe."

Dr. Wood raised his eyebrows slightly, somewhat surprised, then nodded, "That would explain it. This is most likely withdrawal bleeding from the medication."

"Withdrawal bleeding?" Arabella and Gabriel said in unison, both looking confused.

"Yes, withdrawal bleeding generally indicates successful contraception. In other words—if you hadn't taken that pill, you would have become pregnant."

Arabella was so shocked her eyes widened!

What kind of constitution did she have?

Why did she get pregnant so easily?

When she conceived the twins, it had been miraculous too—she'd clearly taken birth control pills but still got pregnant.

After giving birth, people said it would take at least six months for her cycle to return, but hers came back quickly, and she got accidentally pregnant again, though fortunately it ended in chemical pregnancy.

And shortly after that chemical pregnancy, after that morning with Gabriel, she'd almost gotten pregnant again.

Arabella felt a chill of fear and was very grateful she'd taken the emergency contraception in time.

"Dr. Wood, why... do I get pregnant so easily?" After the initial shock, she voiced her confusion while mentally noting she must be extremely careful in the future!

Dr. Wood explained, "Some people just have a naturally fertile constitution. First, it indicates that both partners have good physical health. Second, an anterior uterine position also makes conception easier. There are other factors, but these are the main ones."

Arabella glanced at Gabriel, who looked somewhat embarrassed and silently wiped his nose bridge without speaking.

Dr. Wood also felt a bit awkward. Before coming, seeing that Arabella had moved out to live alone, he'd understood the situation.

But if they were separated yet still intimate, it suggested things hadn't reached a particularly serious point.

Out of professional duty, Dr. Wood remained silent for a moment before adding, "Mr. Sterling, since you know Mrs. Sterling has a highly fertile constitution, you should be more careful in the future. Of course, if you're still planning to have children, pretend I didn't say anything."

"Of course we won't have more!" Arabella interrupted urgently, her eyes darting nervously to Gabriel before looking back at Dr. Wood with concern. "Will my current condition affect breastfeeding?"

"If your body feels fine otherwise, it should be alright. However, you should rest more in the coming period. I'll prescribe some herbal medicine to help regulate your body and hopefully prevent this from happening again."

The menstrual cramps had been truly unbearable. Arabella couldn't be bothered with maintaining distance from Gabriel at the moment and nodded repeatedly in gratitude, "Yes, thank you so much, Dr. Wood."

Gabriel walked the doctor out while Arabella continued lying down.

With the heating pad on her abdomen and the pain medication taking effect, she felt much better now.

Only her legs still ached somewhat.

She hadn't expected such a small white pill to have such powerful effects.

She could never take them casually again.

But given her highly fertile constitution and Gabriel's shamelessness, how could she convince him to take proper precautions?

Arabella was still mulling over these chaotic thoughts when Gabriel, having seen the doctor off, pushed the door open and returned.

Their eyes met—hers cool and distant, his somewhat guilty and sheepish.
