Chapter 172 Pregnant Again Unexpectedly!
The doctor looked startled and turned to Arabella. "Are you pregnant?"
Arabella stammered, "I... I don't know."
Gabriel explained, "We suspect she might be. We just drew blood, but the results aren't back yet."
"Let's wait for the results then," the doctor said.
The two walked out of the examination room, and Gabriel headed straight for the blood test results without hesitation.
Arabella followed behind him, her phone ringing.
It was Manuel calling.
"Hello, Arabella. Did you go to the hospital? How was the examination?" Manuel figured that when Gabriel took her away, he must have been heading to the hospital for a check-up. After losing track of them, he could only call to ask.
Arabella responded softly, "I'm at the hospital. My nose bridge has a minor fracture, but the doctor says it's not serious, it just needs to heal naturally."
"A fracture?" Manuel was shocked. "How could it be that severe?"
"Well..." Arabella murmured quietly without elaborating.
Gabriel was such a tall, heavy man, the force when he suddenly crashed into her was unimaginable. She was grateful it was just her nose bridge; if it had been her eyes, the consequences would have been much worse.
She'd also fallen hard, and her backside still hurt, making walking uncomfortable.
What terrible luck.
Every time Gabriel appeared, he brought disaster into her life.
Hearing her silence, Manuel didn't need to think hard to know she must be feeling very down right now. Feeling sorry for her, he comforted her, "Don't worry too much. If you don't want to go back with him, you can report this to the police, tell them he's been abusing you. Or tell me where you are now, and I'll come pick you up."
These words terrified Arabella, and she quickly refused, "No, no, you don't need to. I'll be leaving the hospital soon. Don't come here. Don't worry, I can take care of myself."
She still wasn't sure if she was pregnant. If she was indeed that unlucky to be expecting again, it would be even more awkward if Manuel came now!
And given Gabriel's rage, he would definitely get into another fight with him.
The more she thought about it, the more frightened she became. Afraid he wouldn't listen to her advice and would somehow find his way here, she emphasized again, "Manuel, please don't come looking for me. It will only make me angrier, and I won't be able to explain myself."
Manuel understood what she meant and smiled calmly. "I don't care. If this can help you, I'm happy to do it."
"No, Manuel. You've already helped me enough. I can't let you take on such a terrible reputation just to help me. I was confused earlier too, going along with his misunderstanding and saying things in anger. I never thought he'd take it seriously, and I never imagined he'd say it in front of you today..."
Arabella knew this matter had to be clarified quickly, or Manuel would misunderstand too. Then she'd be caught between both sides with nowhere to turn.
But before she could finish speaking, she glanced up and saw Gabriel walking toward them with a paper in his hand. Her heart immediately began racing, jumping to her throat.
"Manuel, I'm done with the examination and getting ready to go back. I have to hang up now. I'm so sorry for causing you all this trouble."
After hurriedly saying this, Arabella rushed to end the call.
"Arabella, Arabella, listen to me..."
On the other end, Manuel urgently called her name several times, but she didn't respond. She hung up just as Gabriel reached her.
Her bewildered, helpless eyes met his dark, cold gaze, and Arabella's racing heart suddenly seemed to snap like a broken string, plummeting straight down.
She didn't even need to ask—the result was already written all over Gabriel's face.
Gabriel approached with fierce momentum, his coat billowing behind him in the cold wind.
He stopped in front of her, looking at her phone that had just been lowered. He didn't need to ask to know she'd been talking to Manuel.
He wanted desperately to curse them both—but remembering that Arabella was still his wife, still the mother of his two children, the words ultimately wouldn't come out.
The scene fell silent as he stared intently at Arabella before him, his deep, dark eyes like the apocalyptic darkness of storm clouds gathering before a hurricane.
After staring for a full four or five seconds, Arabella held her breath and remained perfectly still, like a criminal awaiting sentencing.
Finally, Gabriel's thin lips curved upward as he ground his back teeth and violently threw the test results at her, "Look at what you've done!"
Arabella jumped in fright, instinctively raising her hands to catch the paper and turning it around to look.
Having been pregnant once before, she knew exactly what elevated HCG levels meant.
She was accidentally pregnant again!!!
She stared at the numbers on the lab report. Even though it was clearly written, she still hoped there had been some mistake, hoped for a miracle that would restore her peace.
But there was none.
Gabriel kept grinding his back teeth—it was the only way he could keep from exploding at her, from strangling her with his bare hands!
"You have to get rid of this baby immediately—right now!" he commanded, his tone brooking no argument.
Arabella was breathing rapidly, her eyes contracting several times, her mind in complete chaos.
After a while, she forced herself to calm down, swallowing hard and taking a deep breath before looking up at him, "Of course I'm going to terminate it. But I still need to say this—Manuel and I are completely innocent. This baby... is yours."
Gabriel stared at her, then gave a cold laugh and looked away. "You think saying that will let you keep this child?"
When there's no common ground, even half a sentence is too much.
Since he wouldn't believe her, Arabella stopped explaining. Clutching the lab report, she turned and walked away.
It was evening now, and the hospital had nothing open except emergency services.
Even if she wanted the abortion procedure, she'd have to schedule an outpatient appointment. For now, she could only go home.
But she'd barely taken a few steps when Gabriel quickly caught up and grabbed her.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!" Arabella was like a balloon inflated to its breaking point—the moment he touched her, she exploded, turning around to pummel the man with her fists and feet, trying to keep him away.
This outburst startled all the patients and family members around them, who turned to stare.
"You're coming home with me tonight, and tomorrow morning I'm taking you to the hospital," Gabriel declared, maintaining some distance but keeping his eyes locked on her, with no intention of letting her go.
It was essentially surveillance—he was afraid she'd run away and hide somewhere to secretly give birth to this child.
He absolutely would not allow it!
Arabella glared at him, her eyes bloodshot with fury. "I don't need you to come with me. I will never give birth to your child again!"
She turned to leave again. Gabriel watched her retreating figure and somehow suddenly believed that this child was indeed his.
Even if her mouth could lie, her eyes couldn't.
He clearly remembered that two years ago, when she'd learned about her unexpected pregnancy, her reaction had been shock, anticipation, and then joy.
Back then, no matter how much he opposed it, she insisted on keeping the baby.
Even when she learned that the morning-after pill might affect the child's development, she hadn't changed her mind.
But today, from the moment she saw the lab results, there hadn't been a trace of joy on her face.
And just now, when she said "I will never give birth to your child again," her eyes were filled with intense rejection.
