Chapter 97 SHE'S DEAD
\[BONNIE'S ROOM\]
Slap.
"You are so useless! You couldn't do a single job right! Why did you have to shoot that woman? Do you even know what you've done?!" she yelled, breathing heavily.
Stacy rushed to Bonnie, panic rising in her voice. "What do we do now? Drexton will not spare us. I told you, didn't I? We are dead..."
"Shut up! Let me think," she shunned Stacy, drawing in a deep breath.
"It's not my fault. How was I supposed to know that the woman would jump in front of her? You should have told me that she's her mother. I would have been more careful," Mark said.
"You know what, both of you are useless. What part of let me think do you fail to understand? Keep quiet!" Bonnie got her phone and checked the screen.
Stacy paced around, sweat falling uncontrollably.
Mark stood beside the door, staring at Bonnie.
Bonnie went to her wardrobe and took down her box.
"We have to leave right now," she mumbled in a rushed tone, putting a few clothes and documents into the bag.
"E... exactly." Stacy helped her pack a few things.
When they were done, Mark picked up the gun and hid it in his hoodie.
Dragging the box along, they rushed out of the room, their feet slapping the stairs.
They climbed down the stairs to see their worst nightmare waiting for them.
He had his dark gaze fixed on them, Bonnie especially.
Bonnie almost fell if not for Mark, who held her.
She'd never seen Drexton looking at her like that before.
She agrees he's always cold towards her, but it feels as if she's looking at the devil.
"D... Drexton, you scared me. I didn't expect to see you here," she chuckled, failing to hide the nervousness in her.
Stacy was already shaking in her spot. She's not ready to die now.
Mark secretly slid his hand under his hoodie, holding his gun.
"I bet you did," Drexton replied, his voice scarier than the devil.
"D-Drexton, I didn't do anything. I tried to stop Bonnie. I wasn't in support of her plan. I told her it was a bad idea," Stacy stuttered, tears sliding down her cheeks.
Drexton faced her, and she could swear she saw death before her.
He returned his gaze to Bonnie.
"I didn't mean to shoot my aunt. Audrey was the target, and—"
"You set up a guy to rape Ixora." He cut her off.
Her eyes widened in shock.
Which means the text she received, and the death news about the guy, was all Drexton. He knew.
"I... I wanted to help you. You hate her, and you shouldn't care about—"
"You shot Aunt."
"Believe me, Drexton, it was only an accident. She was the one who took the bullet," she said at the brink of breaking down.
Drexton took a step forward and drew out his gun.
"How would you like to join your mother?" he asked and planted a bullet on her left leg.
"Argh!" she yelped and fell to the ground.
Stacy shook on her spot, almost jumping.
Mark took out his gun and pointed it at Drexton.
"Y-You killed my mother." She clutched her leg, staring at Drexton with tears rolling down her cheeks.
"When both mother and daughter have the same obsession, do you think I should spare anyone?" Drexton replied, casting Mark an unnoticeable glance.
"You are so ungrateful. Dad took you in, and Mum cared for you. You shouldn't blame her for falling for you when you are so hot," she cried, feeling excruciating pain in her leg.
"Her biggest mistake was killing Caius. You should join her," Drexton muttered, slowly pulling the trigger.
"Drexton!" Ixora called from behind.
Drexton turned to her.
Bonnie snatched the gun from Mark and fired a bullet at Ixora.
"Die bitch!"
Drexton grabbed her hand and dragged her to his chest.
He took her to his side, and three bullets rifled through the air.
One hit Bonnie in the vocal cord, and the other in her chest.
The other one hit Mark's forehead.
They both dropped dead.
Stacy let out an ear-splitting scream as she covered her mouth, crying.
Ixora stayed calm, since she knew what he was capable of.
She felt no pity towards Bonnie, not after finding out she was the one behind the almost rape incident.
She also tried to kill Audrey, and she didn't want to imagine what would have happened to Blake if she had succeeded.
She took her gaze to Stacy, who hadn't moved from her spot, and then to Drexton.
His eyes were dark, and that darkness—she had seen it before.
It's the same one he always had when he was tormenting her. The same emotionless one, and surprisingly, she wasn't scared of them anymore.
Bonnie deserves it, and she's sure Maddox and Jaxon would have done worse.
She held his hand. "Let's go to the hospital. Aunt needs us."
\[HOSPITAL\]
They both reached to see Maddox and Jaxon standing outside the ward with Skye.
"What happened?" Drexton asked.
"She regained consciousness and insisted on seeing her kids," Jaxon replied.
Maddox rested his head on the wall and said nothing.
Inside, Blake and Audrey held her hand, crying deeply.
"Don't worry mum, you will make it out of here alive." Audrey leaned in and pecked her hand.
Joanna's lips stretched into a smile.
"I'm h... happy. I got your forgiveness, and you called me mother again." She smiled, tears falling from her eyes. "Take care of each other."
"Mum, don't say that again. We'll leave and let you complete your surgery," Blake said.
The door opened and everybody walked in.
"You should complete your surgery," Maddox said.
"We are both doctors and, you know, I won't survive it," she said with a sad smile, and their faces fell.
"You shouldn't give up yet," Ixora sobbed from where she stood.
Joanna flashed her a smile.
"I'm glad I met you, Ixora. There are a few things I wish to tell you myself if time permits me. You are nice, sweet and caring. Take care of yourself, and Drexton." She turned to him. "My son," she closed her eyes, sniffling.
"I remember how we met. I diagnosed your condition with Caius by your side. We became close, and I showered you with love in any way I could. I understood your story, and your hate, everything. But it's time to let go of your hatred. There's still a chance; cherish the people you have now. Don't stop loving Ixora."
Drexton strolled towards her and held her hand, preventing her from saying more.
"Stop the farewell speech, you will not die," he muttered, meeting her teary gaze.
His eyes were soft, almost tearful, and it was obvious he was trying to hold back his tears.
She faced Jaxon and Maddox. "My psychopathic twins. I wouldn't ask you to forgive your father because what he did was wrong, and it affected you both a lot. But just like I said to Drexton, give the light of the world a chance. Find your light and cherish it."
"Skye," she said. "Take care of my baby girl for me."
"Please," Skye mumbled.
She coughed and joined Blake and Drexton's hands together.
"Blake, I know you hate Drexton because you feel he stole everything you wanted. I want you to discard those thoughts. You both should see each other as brothers, and I know your happiness is not yet found. Always take care of your sister, remain nice and always be happy."
Heavy tears poured out of her eyes as she took one last look at them, one after the other.
Her gaze finally settled on Drexton.
"I love you all," she muttered, and in slow motion, her eyelids hugged each other.
The monitor beep rose and beeped fast before reducing its beep, flattening.
"Mum!!!"
"Aunt."
"Please wake up. We have a lot to catch up on."
"Wake up!"
Jaxon's steps were slow until he got to her and checked her pulse.
"She's dead," he mumbled with a heavy heart.
