Chapter 93 I GOT THE JOB
\[DREXTON'S HOUSE\]
Ixora stared at the message she received from Nelly last night.
"Hi, I'm sorry I'm sending this to you instead of coming to see you in person. Something came up, and I had to go to Sicily immediately. Once again, sorry I couldn't tell you before leaving. Bye," from Nelly.
She couldn't understand a thing. How could Nelly leave like that? What might have come up?
"Gosh, does Blake know?" she muttered, and then remembered what happened last night.
"I wonder if he's okay," she exhaled. "More problems keep coming up. I wonder when everything will be normal again." She went to Drexton's room to see him dressing up for work.
She leaned against the door frame, smiling to herself.
They both fell asleep while watching the stars. Drexton took her to his house early in the morning.
She admired his back view from the door, feeling proud of herself. She's always with him at every step of his life.
A week from now, he will turn 26. She plans on making his birthday very memorable for both of them.
He doesn't know, and she doesn't plan on telling him that she knows either. Joanna was the one who told her.
"Happy birthday in advance," she said in her mind and wrapped her arm around him.
"Have you finished staring?" Drexton asked, fixing his tie.
"Is there anything you don't know? I didn't even make a noise," she pouted.
"Yes. There are a lot of things I don't know."
"Lies," she hit his elbow and came to the front. "At least you don't know how to knot your tie."
She stood on her toes and held his tie.
He gripped her waist and pulled her towards him.
"What are you doing?" she whispered.
"Didn't you want to knot my tie, go on."
With great difficulty, she managed to knot the tie. It wasn't easy because she avoided his gaze at all costs. Staring at his eyes would be a no for her. The amount of effect he holds on her would make her unknowingly strangle him with the tie.
He released her waist, and she let out a shaky breath.
"See, I knotted the tie," she said with a smile.
He gave her a look but didn't say a word.
"Are you sure you don't need me? I'm your secretary."
"Stay here and don't go out. I have to see the assistant Kian recommended, and I will be leaving work," Drexton said.
"Where are you going?" Ixora asked with a raised brow.
He brought his face closer to hers and pecked her lips.
"Call me if you're bored."
He didn't want to tell her, and she didn't press further. Maybe he will tell her later on.
"I made breakfast," she said.
Drexon nodded, and they both left the room.
They got to the dining table and, knowing Drexton didn't want to eat, she forced him to sit down.
"Open up."
Obediently, he did, and she kept feeding him.
"Happy?" he asked.
Ixora nodded her face, beaming with a smile.
He ate from her hand and finished the food.
"Hope you didn't overeat. I..."
"It's fine." He carried her and placed her on the table.
He kissed the corners of her lips.
"Take care," Ixora whispered and pressed her lips on his neck.
Drexton stayed still until she was done.
He left.
The smile on her face fell as she felt the loneliness in the house.
She knew his wolf was at home, and that sent shivers down her spine.
Despite knowing the teeth are fake, a wolf is a wolf.
Her face lit up as an idea struck her.
She rushed in to get ready.
\[BLAKE'S HOUSE\]
"What have we done?" Skye asked, dragging his hand along his face.
He sighed, staring at Audrey.
They woke up not long ago and have been staring at each other until Skye decided to speak up.
"Do you regret it?" Audrey asked, slowly.
"You don't get it, do you? I literally took advantage of you. Blake..."
"Will have to understand. You were heartbroken, and I was in a bad mood."
"But we were both in our right senses. I feel like I've betrayed Blake." He got out of bed. "He's so protective of you, and I'm sure he wishes the best for you. We shouldn't have done it, Audrey," he paced around.
"You had the chance to stop, right? Why didn't you? We can't change what happened, Skye. We just have to find a way to tell Blake."
"And have him kill me! No way. We have to keep it away from him."
Audrey stared at him in shock. "Do you not feel a thing for me?" she asked.
Skye stopped pacing around, his eyes locking with hers. "I... I don't have the answer to that. I just got played by my..." he trailed, not knowing what to call Bonnie. "I don't have the time to heal yet."
"So," Audrey sniffled, tearing up. "You used me to get over Bonnie."
Skye roughed his hair. "I never said that. Besides, we both know we did what we did because we were hurt. If we were in our right senses..."
"I would still have done it," Audrey said, cutting him off. She stood and went to him. "For how long are you going to keep pretending that you don't feel a thing for me? Or that you don't know I am deeply in love with you. We both know you are only attracted to Bonnie, not love."
"Stop saying what you don't know, Audrey!" Skye yelled. "I love Bonnie, and I don't see myself getting over her. Attraction or love, call it what you want. I admit I was stupid and a fool to her, but it doesn't mean my heart didn't beat for her."
"Not only a fool. You are dumb as well," she sniffled. "Why do you want to make me regret giving you my body? I had sex with you, and..."
The door pushed open, and she immediately stopped talking.
The look on Blake's face said he heard the last part, if not everything. He only glanced at Audrey once before focusing his eyes on Skye.
"You had sex with my sister?" he asked, taking slow steps towards him.
"Blake, I... I can explain. It's..."
"You bastard," Blake lunged at him and gave him a heavy punch.
"How dare you?!" he punched him again, and Skye fell to the ground.
"Blake!" Audrey shouted.
Blake didn't listen as he kept sending fists and kicks to Skye.
Skye did not attempt to fight back.
He deserved it all. Maybe, just maybe, he might come back to his senses after this.
Audrey came in between them.
"Please stop hitting him."
"He took advantage of you!"
"No he didn't! It was my choice!" she cried.
Blake's hand froze in the air as he stared at his sister.
"Please just stop. I'm the one to blame. I didn't stop..."
Blake stormed out of the room, slamming the door shut.
Audrey rushed to Skye.
His face was deeply wounded.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. I... I need some time alone." He barely stood and staggered out of the room.
Audrey crouched to the floor, crying.
\[CAIUS HOUSE\]
Lorraine's eyes darted around her room as she packed her bag. A few hours from now, she'll be traveling to China.
She saw the news about her pet store. Now, it's confirmed. Killing the animals was done on purpose, and she knew who was behind it.
The government had called her for an explanation, but she couldn't go. How could she when the devils were after her?
This morning, she woke up and couldn't find Drex. She checked her entire house, but he was nowhere to be found.
She had no idea how it was possible to sneak into her room, then to her ward rope to steal Drew. Doctor Frat was with her and they didn't hear a single sound.
She needed to leave this country immediately. That's if she still loved her life.
She took the necessary documents and zipped her box.
She tried calling Doctor Frat. Surprisingly, his phone wasn't reachable.
It has never happened before.
On the third attempt, she decided to send a text.
"I'm ready."
\[BLACKTHORN AUTOMOBILE\]
Drexton hadn't blinked since he began staring at the guy sitting before him, Ricky. He's the new assistant.
He had done the necessary interview, but a part of him still has his doubts.
Nick was trembling inwardly at his cold gaze. Who stares at a person like that?
"You can start work then," Drexton said after the long stare.
Kian was the one who found him, and he would just have to monitor his movements.
"Thank you, sir," Ricky stood and bowed.
He arranged his files and left the office.
Drexton got a text from Jaxon.
His eyes darkened as he tapped his finger on the table.
"It's time."
Ricky went into the bathroom and made sure to lock the door.
He listened for any footsteps before bringing out an earbud from his pocket.
The call connected, and he smiled.
"Hello, Miss, you can tell me the plan. I got the job."
