Chapter 86 SMITH'S ADVICE
Ixora smiled, taking in a big sniff of the air. The room hung thick with Drexton's scent. They had both cuddled all night after their steamy make-out.
Being able to feel her yesterday was the happiest moment of her life. Now she knows she holds a special place in his life, even if he doesn't say it outright. Deep down, she knows he has a soft spot for her.
And her feelings for him are increasing every day. She will have to thank her mum, dad, and James. Credit to them, Drexton felt her touch, and she got the best moment of her life.
She pulled the duvet to her nose, sniffing a huge amount. At this rate, it's safe to say she's obsessed with his scent.
She opened her eyes and didn't feel his presence. She got off the bed, feeling a little bit sore from how he fingered her. They didn't go past the fingering, and she was glad he'd taken it easy with her.
She saw a new set of clothes and went in to freshen up.
\--
Descending from the stairs, she sighted him. He had his back to her as he was on a phone call. The delicious aroma of food immediately filled her nostrils, and her gaze landed on the table.
It was filled with different delicacies. She couldn't even figure out the food that wasn't there. Her mouth turned watery, and her stomach grumbled.
She wasn't feeling hungry, but after seeing the food... she couldn't help it.
"Did he cook all these?"
He turned to her, seeming to have finished answering his call.
"Good morning," Ixora greeted, her eyes not leaving the table.
"Did you cook all these?" she asked almost immediately.
"You should eat," Drexton said.
Ixora stared at him and turned speechless. She tried to read his expression, but couldn't decide if he was back to his old self or just being normal.
"But-"
She heard a low growl behind her. Familiar, yes, it was.
The same growl when she was in the outhouse. When she played a chess game with Drexton. The-
She quickly spun around to see it... the huge black wolf with its yellow eyes locked onto her.
"Argh!" She screamed, rushing to hide behind Drexton.
"Get it away!" She said, wrapping her arms around him.
Drexton shook his head and slowly removed her arm.
He walked to the wolf and stroked its fur.
"Drew," he told Ixora.
"Huh?" Ixora stuttered, shocked at how he was casually touching a wolf.
"My pet," he replied.
Ixora's eyes widened.
His pet is a wolf!
"Aren't you scared, it's going to eat you one day?"
"Eat," he faced the wolf, urging it to open its mouth. "His teeth are fake."
Ixora released a sigh of relief.
She gets it now, the wolf can't eat him up even if he wants to.
"But, why a wolf, though? It's still scary."
Ixora couldn't blink as she stared at both Drexton and the wolf. Wolves are known to be wild animals. How then is he able to get it under control? Stroking a wolf's fur like it's a part of the thing he dominates. Well, she wasn't expecting less, not when he's far from normal.
He picked up one of the plates, probably the wolf's food.
Drew took the plate with his mouth and walked away. It even has the same aura as Drexton.
Ixora finally regained her breath when Drexton looked at her.
He knew she was scared of his wolf, and that's why he had to send it away.
"I have somewhere to go. Eat up."
"So soon?" Ixora found herself asking.
She was hoping they'd stay and have breakfast together. Not like she could finish the whole meal.
Drexton nodded.
He scooped up two spoons and fed her.
Ixora wrapped her arms around him, sniffling at his scent.
"I will miss you," she mumbled.
Drexton pulled her away and turned to her.
He leaned in and kissed her forehead.
"Me or my cock?" he smirked.
Heat rose from Ixora's body up to her cheeks.
She hit his arm. "Get going already."
He left not without sparing her a last glance.
Ixora sat slowly, calming the heat within her body. She couldn't believe his words affected her so much.
She needed something to stop herself from thinking about him.
She took her phone and switched it on.
"Gosh, can't believe I haven't used my phone since yesterday."
Her pupils dilated on seeing the countless missed calls from Nelly, Blake, and Audrey, numerous voice notes as well.
"Xora, are you okay?"
Blake's voice note.
"They must have seen the wedding," she muttered, playing Audrey's note.
"Where are you?"
Now this is serious. She could detect the worry behind their tone.
"Check the internet, Aunt is..."
Ixora didn't wait to finish listening to it before scrolling to the trending news.
"Miss Georgia Castellan is a murderer-"
"What!" she screamed, rising to her feet.
\[CASTELLAN HOUSE\]
"Mum!"
Ixora rushed in.
She left as soon as she saw the news.
She doesn't understand what is happening. Her mum can never be a murderer. The news is lying.
"Mum!" She rushed up the stairs, going to her mum's room, only to find it empty.
Where did her mum go? Have the police arrested her? She had a hard time entering her house.
"Where are you, Mum?" She rushed to the sitting room, getting her phone to call her.
Smith climbed down the stairs.
"Dad, where is Mum?" She asked, panic rising in her voice.
Smith gave her a cold stare, almost as if he didn't recognize her again.
Ixora didn't fail to see it.
He must still be mad about the wedding.
"Do I involve myself in your mother's affairs?" he asked.
"Dad," she said, shocked. "She is your wife. Aren't you even bothered that your wife is being dragged through the mud? They are tainting her reputation."
Smith smiled, not sincerely, as he shook his head. "You are so clueless."
He walked to her and touched her hair. "To lessen the stress, you'll never find your mother. Maybe she isn't really who you think she is."
Ixora narrowed her brow, confusion etched in her face.
"What do you mean?"
Smith tilted his head to the left. "In our world, the rich wear masks, the poor aren't who they seem to be. There are secrets... dark, psychopathic, chaotic, greed, and betrayal. Trust no one," he said and left, leaving Ixora pondering what he meant by that.
He was trying to tell her something, and she failed to understand it.
What does he mean?
\[BLACKTHORN AUTOMOBILE\]
Drexton's eyes haven't left his phone for a second. The curse and hate are coming from Georgia's supporters.
His plan is going just as planned. It's time he started ruining those who hurt him, and he'd give them a reason to panic. Unease. And little by little, he'll make them wish they weren't even born.
Lorraine's brain will be trying to process the mystery behind Clara's death and convince herself he wasn't behind it.
Georgia, she can hide all she wants, not even death can save her. She should know the feeling of losing what she values so much, and that's her political power.
The door creaked open, and Kian walked in.
"Sir, Mr. James Miller left the board members. He and his dad flew out of the country. I don't think they'll be returning," he reported.
Drexton sank deeper into the chair. He needs to give James an accolade for that. He just made his job easier; he wouldn't have to destroy him. Lucky him.
Drexton took his eyes to see Kian still standing.
"Anything else?" he raised his brow.
Kian cleared his throat.
"I'm resigning next week."
"Why?"
"I need to go back to my hometown. My mother needs me, and I didn't plan on settling here. The job was only for a few years."
Drexton nodded, understanding.
"You don't have to worry, sir, I've already found another person to take over. He won't disappoint you, I promise."
"You were already planning it a long time ago?" Drexton asked.
He hated to admit it, but Kian is his most loyal worker.
Kian lowered his head. "I'm sorry, sir, it happened so fast I didn't get the chance to tell you."
Drexton opened his drawer and took out a check.
"Take it."
Kian's eyes fell on the note. 100 billion.
"No, I can't accept it. It's..."
"For your hard work."
"Sir," Kian made faces, meeting the eyes of Drexton. Saying no will not be a good idea.
He accepted it.
"Stay safe."
"Thank you, sir," Kian bowed and left.
Drexton checked his phone. The guys are waiting for him, and after that,
He has an appointment with Joanna.
