Chapter 83 POLITICAL WEDDING

Chapter 83 POLITICAL WEDDING
\[GREAT NEW YORK HALL, BACKSTAGE\]

Ixora had a point-blank expression as they did her makeup. Getting kidnapped by her own family and locked up for days. They went as far as seizing her phone. She has no one to call for help.

James has been doing what he does best, annoying the shit out of her and pretending to be the perfect one in front of her parents. Comparing himself with Drexton when she knows he's nowhere close.

One thing is for sure: Drexton would definitely save her. He can't let her marry somebody else, not when he has claimed her soul. Even if he doesn't show up, she will do something crazy. If it means unleashing the darkness within her-the version Drexton created, she doesn't mind.

Everything around her feels suffocating, including the makeup, beauticians, and even the wedding dress. At the gala, Drexton himself dressed her up, and she loved every bit of it, but today, this is making her skin act up.

She knew everyone had seen the news; her parents made sure to broadcast it on every medium they could get in touch with.

Everyone who is witnessing her wedding will witness her madness today.

The door creaked open, and without bothering to turn, she already knew who it was. His suffocating scent has clouded the entire room. James.

"How is my little bride doing?"

The beautician was the one who replied.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to talk to my bride in private." He gave out his fake smile as usual.

The beautician nodded and left.

"Ixora," he dragged the name, facing her. "You know that expression of yours makes my mind run dirty. I didn't touch you within those two days, but don't think I'll go easy on you tonight. I'll pin you to my bed and make you scream the new name attached to your name. How's that for a start?" He smiled, tauntingly.

Ixora stood ready to leave when he stopped her again.

"Ah, ah, aren't you in such a hurry, my darling?" I understand you've come to terms with the fact that no one can save you tonight, not even your usual savior." He leaned close to her ear. "Drexton."

Ixora's gaze found his face, disgust etched on it. If Drexton doesn't come, she'll save herself. Besides, she doesn't need saving.

"I will never get married to you," she muttered.

James exhaled in the usual taunting manner. "You just don't get it, do you?" He held her shoulder in a light grip. "Why don't I show you something?"

He guarded her to the window while standing behind her.

Ixora's eyes scanned the hall, not mesmerized by its beauty and luxury. A gold chandelier was draped in the hall, giving it a golden ambiance. Red, white, and purple flowers fell on the sides and edges of the hall. Tables and chairs were meticulously set with an expensive wine on each one of them. Fine China plates, silver glassware and a bouquet weren't left out.

She could see her parents putting on their normal charade of smiling at the public. Media, newscasters, and journalists were all present, covering the events.

Camera flashes came from every angle, and that made her wonder if this was a wedding or a press conference. She wasn't expecting less. According to her mum, the wedding was just to get a lot of people on her side for the election.

James' father was mingling with people of a highly reputable society. Men and women who parade themselves around.

She eye-searched for her friends, but found none of them present. From the look of things, most of the people attending the sickening marriage were politicians and other people who would contribute greatly to her parents' political affairs.

Now she understood why her friends didn't try to see her... they probably didn't let them in.

"Do you like it?" James whispered behind her.

"Get your hands off me." She jerked her body, causing his hand to slip.

"Well, it doesn't matter. Like I was saying, Drexton can't save you today, and you know why?" He gripped her neck, pushing her head forward as if forcing her gaze outside. "You see those men in black outfits."

Ixora's eyes fell on them; they were all wearing black suits and black shades. It's not their dressing, but the number they were.

Ixora could swear they were up to fifty, if not more.

"They are my men. And their job for tonight is strictly to prevent Drexton from disrupting the wedding."

Ixora saw her father walking towards the one who looked like their leader. He showed his phone to them with a picture of Drexton on the screen.

From his looks, he was telling them to keep an eye out for Drexton.

"See that, no one is going to save you from me." He released her neck and stepped away from her.

"You are all mad." Ixora shot him a glare.

"Don't you think you are figuring it out a little bit too late?" A smirk appeared on his lips. "I'll leave you for now. Finish your dressing, you've barely got an hour left."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Ixora returned her gaze to the window and saw something happen between the guards.

\[BLAKE'S HOUSE\]

"We can't just sit here and do nothing. Ixora is being forced into this wedding." Audrey slapped her phone repeatedly on her palm, pacing around.

"At this rate, we can do nothing. We tried for two days, but her parents are adamant about not letting us in," Blake replied, eyes fixed on the screen.

"But she's our friend, we've got to help her."

Blake sighed. "I really wish we could."

Audrey sat beside Skye, taking her gaze at the screen. "This is madness, not a wedding. Look at those guards, do they think she'd run away?"

Skye placed his hand on her shoulder, giving her a soothing massage. "You should relax. The Ixora I know is not weak."

Blake smiled, nodding his head in agreement.

"And Audrey, I'm sure Drexton would do something," Nelly said.
