Chapter 61 WHO. SENT. YOU
\[BOMA RIVER\]
Miz adjusted his face cap, lowering his head as he stared at the boat. Lorraine said a boat would be waiting for him, and this was the only boat in sight, which meant it was for him.
It was 2:00 am, and he had to leave the city tonight else Drexton might come after him.
He climbed onto the boat, ready to sit, when his eyes caught the captain. The captain was dressed in all black, completely different from a captain's uniform.
But this was illegal transportation, which meant the captain was a random person.
The captain hadn't said a word, and his back was to him. He couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
His presence wasn't acknowledged by the captain.
"Were you sent by..." The rest of the words hung in his throat when the person turned to him.
All his blood ran cold as he witnessed the dress code of the person—a familiar dress code known by almost everyone in the city of New York—HELL DEVILS'.
He swallowed, seeing the person hitting a baton in his hand.
The person was wearing a circular nose mask. Jaxon.
Jaxon stood and began walking towards him.
Miz gulped, stepping back. He spun around and wanted to dash off, but the steps of two incoming people made him fall to his butt.
His eyes grew wider when he saw the remaining two: the triangle nose mask and the star nose mask. One had a knife and the other a gun.
The three of them walked towards him, their steps slow and poisonous.
"What do you want? Stay away from me," he said hurriedly, fumbling his bag for his gun.
The three of them halted at the same time.
"He's the curious type," Jaxon mocked, dropping his baton on the ground.
Maddox (triangular nose mask) let the knife slip onto the boat and Drexton wasn't left out.
The weapon was just to scare him... he's too easy for them.
Sweat traced down Miz's face as he searched his bag for a gun.
He stood and drew out his gun, pointing it at Drexton.
"You might be the hell devils, but I'm also dangerous. Now, tell me what you want from me?" he asked, sounding brave.
They were weaponless, and if anybody tried to make a single move, he'd blow out the person's skull.
They were dangerous, but one thing he didn't understand was why they came to him. He was expecting Drexton, not the Hell Devils.
"The three of you should leave this boat if you don't want bloodshed," he threatened, curling his thumb around the trigger.
"Blood," Maddox said, sniffling in the air.
Miz hadn't chance to understand him when a kick flew into his hand, causing the gun to fall out of his hand onto the wooden boat.
He groaned painfully. His hand remained in that position, unable to move. He couldn't feel his bones again. It felt as if his bone had been...
Cracked.
He looked at the star-nose mask, the person who had kicked him. His eyes turned into pleading ones.
"Who are you three? Stay away from me. I did nothing to you," he begged, feeling his tears welling at the corners of his eyes.
Jaxon drew in a lot of air. "So many wishes," he shook his head. "He should have his last wish fulfilled before he dies, don't you think?"
Miz stepped back, finally able to bring his hand down.
His heart was drumming loudly, loud enough that it could all reach their ears.
The three of them put their hands to the back of their ears, and slowly, they took off their nose masks.
Miz's eyes bulged harder, almost like those of an owl, as he stared at them with a wide mouth. He began stepping back, waving his hand in front as if waving off the shock.
The Hell Devils were none other than—
"Don't kill me, please," he said, hot tears and sweat cascading down his face.
He wasn't unaware of their gruesome killing. How they come unexpectedly and how they always get away with their crimes.
He stumbled and fell on his butt when Drexton started walking towards him.
He screeched back on his butt, looking around for any weapon to get a hold of.
"Coward," Maddox commented from where he was standing.
Miz joined his palms together. "I... spare my life, please." He cried.
Lorraine had promised him that he'd leave the city before Drexton could get to him. What she never told him was that he was among the most dangerous killers.
Drexton crouched down towards him. "Three words." He dragged his collar by the neck, making him look at his eyes.
It wasn't the eyes of a human, but the devil.
Miz felt something wet sliding down his pants. He traced his gaze to see that he had peed on himself. The pee was sliding across the boat, and a smug played on Jaxon's lips as he witnessed the scene.
"Who. Sent. You?" Drexton asked, the words coming out one after the other. Not too loud, but loud enough for the four of them to hear.
Loud enough for the birds to leave their trees and loud enough to cause a heavy breeze.
Miz's shook his head, rubbing his palms pleadingly. "W... I'm forbidden from ever revealing a client's name."
He said, hoping Drexton would let him go. Death's the best option when it comes to revealing a client's name. The organization he came from wouldn't even let his soul rest in peace if he said a word.
Drexton faced the others. "Should we fulfill his second wish?"
Jaxon nodded, running his tongue on his upper lip.
"Stay away from me," Maddox reminded as Drexton stood up.
Miz had no idea what they were planning. He remembered telling them to stay away; they were really leaving him.
Drexton stood and began stepping back. Maddox and Jaxon joined as well. The three of their eyes on Miz, passing an unspoken message... one he failed to understand and would never understand, no matter how hard he tried.
They kept walking back and even left their weapons on the boat until their boots reached the shore.
They took three more steps backward, standing on the shore not far from the boat.
Their hands were all tucked in their pockets.
Miz hadn't recovered from his shock, but there was no time to recover. He needed to leave here as soon as possible. Maybe they were giving him a chance to leave.
But there was no captain on the boat. He'd rather jump into the water and swim than allow them to kill him here.
He wanted to stand, but that was his biggest mistake, because immediately he did, the boat went...
KABOOM!
"Argh!" he shouted, tumbling over the boat into the river.
He tried to swim out of the river since he didn't explode with the boat, but couldn't.
It felt like the harder he struggled to get out of the water, the more his life slipped away from his hands.
He couldn't breathe. Something was sucking out all his breath, nor could he swim; something was drawing him back.
He gasped for breath, eyes shut tightly as he flapped his hands like a fish.
He came up to the surface, but that same force pulled him back in.
The water wasn't safe because the moment they entered his mouth, his head began swelling, and several bumps began appearing on his face.
Maddox stared at the chemical he was holding. "Isn't it better than killing with a weapon?" he muttered, focusing his gaze on the struggling Miz.
"Let's leave," Drexton said, and they turned and left in the same aura and power they had come.
They had watched him enough. He'd struggle like that for the next hour. No one would come to his aid, and when he struggled to death, the sharks would feed on his body.
\[HELL DEVILS' HIDEOUT\]
"It's been a long time since we had so much fun," Jaxon said, landing himself on the couch nearby.
They had changed into their casual outfit.
"I'm hungry," he groaned, rubbing his stomach.
Drexton cast him a short glance.
Maddox soon appeared, wheeling in the dish cart, and set the food on the dining table.
"Our wife is here," Jaxon stood and rushed to the dining table.
He began devouring the food.
"Don't call me that."
"But it's the truth. You know if you weren't my brother, and I were gay, I would have married you. You are the best," he said over a mouthful.
Maddox glared at him.
"What? You are the best cook I know."
Drexton shook his head and sat on the other side of the table. He dished out his food.
Maddox sat as well.
The three of them began eating in silence, just the sound of their cutlery against the plates.
Maddox dropped his cutlery. "We didn't drop our signature."
"That would make the mastermind more curious," Jaxon replied, drinking water.
They traced their gaze to Drexton to see that he was not eating. His eyebrows furrowed.
"What are you thinking about?" Jaxon asked.
He turned his gaze to them. "The organization he mentioned, which organization?"
Maddox and Jaxon tore their gazes away, thinking about the organization.
