Chapter 50 BREATHLESS KISS
"Kiss me." She said.
Drexton slowly slipped his hand out of his pocket. Their gaze, more intense than ever. The moonlight shone brightly on them as their gaze burned.
Ixora stared back. She had no idea why she had asked. He was her enemy, her tormentor.
Maybe she wanted to forget it all, his torments and his games. Maybe she wanted to feel something else aside from the killing... something more human that even her body was asking for.
She took another step closer, their bodies a few inches away.
"Kiss me," she repeated, louder than the first, as if he didn't hear her.
He took a step closer. Their bodies came in contact, closing the space between them.
His hand belted her neck, her back hitting the car as he crashed his lips on her.
She slammed her palms on the car, balancing on her feet, immediately seizing the opportunity.
She didn't get a chance to kiss him back the first time. This time, she wouldn't let it slip.
His cold palm around her neck was firm as he feasted on her lips.
She willfully opened her mouth, giving him access as he drove his tongue deep into her mouth.
He tongued her, their tongues battling for dominance in each other's mouths. They kissed like a knob was twisted in their heads and the only thing they could think of was devouring each other's lips.
"Hmm...mmm," a sound tore its way across her lips, blending with the cricket sound.
Her knees weakened, leaving the ground. She used one hand and gripped his shirt.
Using his other hand, he removed her hand and moved it behind her back.
His other hand still circled possessively around her neck.
The kiss was breathless, neither ready to let go.
Their tongues fought, exploring each other's mouths senselessly.
Their breaths collided, mixing with their intoxicating scents.
Both were kissing as if they had been deprived of it. Once in a lifetime opportunity.
Drexton nibbled, bit, and sucked on her lips breathlessly. He released her neck, using his thumb to rub her lip between kisses.
Another sound escaped Ixora's throat.
They both broke the breathless kiss while making a cute pop sound.
Drexton caressed her swollen lips before straightening himself up.
Ixora stared at his lips, quietly catching her breath, his heady scent filling her every part.
A scent she had gotten so used to, even in her nightmares.
His lips were swollen, but not as much as hers.
He walked to the back door, opened it, brought out something and walked towards Ixora.
He handed it over to her.
"Put this on," he said.
Ixora took the clothes, but not without wondering how he got them.
It was trousers and a shirt, definitely not ladies' clothes.
"Does he go around carrying clothes?" she thought, looking for where to change.
She glanced at Drexton to see that he was busy with his phone.
She stood on the other side and began changing.
"Even the clothes smell like him," Ixora muttered, coming out.
Drexton ran his eyes over her body. The clothes were, as expected, bigger than her.
She folded the hand of the shirt and the leg of the trousers, which made her look small and cute.
All of them normally have spare clothes in their car for specific reasons known only to them.
"Can I use your phone? My phone fell when he attacked me. Mum must be so worried about me," Ixora said.
"Two minutes," Drexton said, giving her his phone before waiting for her inside the car.
At exactly two minutes, Ixora got into the car and returned his phone.
"Thank you," she muttered.
He nodded, roaring the engine to life.
\[CASTELLAN'S HOUSE\]
Georgia, Blake and Nelly all stood outside waiting for Ixora. The police were there as well. She had told them that she was alright. They couldn't help but wait for her.
Their faces lit up when they saw a car driving in. The smile fell on seeing it wasn't Ixora's car, nor any of the family's cars.
They began to question who owned the car.
The car parked, Ixora got down.
They couldn't see the driver because of the tinted window.
Drexton stared at her. She flashed him a short smile, to which he replied with a nod. He held the clutch when his eyes saw something on the chair.
Her black ribbon.
He picked it up, took a last glance at Ixora and drove off.
Ixora came face-to-face with them.
Their eyes were fixed on the men's clothes she was wearing.
"Since she is safe, we'll take our leave," the cops said and left.
Ixora walked inside.
"Who was that, and where are you coming from?" Georgia asked, staring at her daughter as if scrutinizing her.
Ixora smiled. "Mom, what's with the question?" she asked playfully.
She became oblivious of the clothes she was wearing.
"Oh," she began, explaining to them what had happened. "He helped me and gave me his clothes. We both came here straight from the police station," Ixora lied against her teeth.
She couldn't possibly tell them that she had killed the person and asked Drexton to help her dispose of the body. She also couldn't tell them about the kiss. They'd think she's gone mad.
Georgia was the first to hug her.
"I owe him a lot for saving my daughter," Georgia said, pecking her forehead.
Ixora giggled softly, breaking the hug.
"I'm sure he wouldn't need it," Ixora replied, hugging Blake.
"Sorry, I wasn't there for you," Blake apologized, sincerely.
"Don't. No one knew it was going to happen." She broke the hug and hugged Nelly.
Nelly allowed some parts of her body to be hugged.
Ixora broke the hug, and their eyes met.
"Can't believe you all stood here waiting for me. It's late and I'm too tired."
"I will get going now."
"Take care."
"Ixora," Nelly held her hand. "I will stay with you," she said, and they both went in.
The smile on Georgia's face fell as she received a call. The call she had been waiting for.
"Speak," she said on answering the call.
"I don't think he's still alive," the private investigator said.
She had hired a private investigator to find out things about little Drexton. She had to confirm Smith's story.
"What are you trying to say? Is he dead?" Georgia asked.
"From the search made, there is a high chance. An accident happened that year and some people were burned beyond recognition. We were able to confirm that the bus had knocked down a child. The child was later confirmed dead," the investigator said.
"So, he has joined his mother and father in heaven," she muttered to no one's hearing.
"What of the popular entrepreneur, Drexton Blackthorn, could he be the one?" Georgia asked.
"They might share the same name, but trust me when I say he is not the one."
Georgia could feel herself breathing out a sigh of relief.
"Okay, I will call you soon," Georgia said and hung up the call.
\[IXORA'S ROOM\]
Nelly sat on the bed, giving Ixora a start-talking look.
"What?" Ixora asked, noticing the look,
"You succeeded in fooling everybody with your lies. I know that is not what happened," Nelly said, tracing invisible lines on the quilt.
Ixora stood, "I have no idea what you are talking about."
Nelly gave her a 'really look'.
Ixora gave up, sitting back on the bed.
She began telling her the whole thing that happened, excluding the part where she killed that guy.
She was done. Nelly stared at her with a wide mouth.
"I've gone crazy, I know," Ixora said, placing her head in her palm.
"You are trying to tell me you were the one who asked him to kiss you?"
"I wasn't thinking straight. I only said the thing that came to mind at the moment," Ixora sighed, raising her head.
"And he agreed?" Nelly said. "He's weirder than I thought," she mumbled.
Ixora didn't reply. She just stared at the ceiling.
"You told a good lie back there."
"I couldn't bring myself to tell them what had happened," she muttered, shifting her gaze to Nelly. "Blake punched him because of me, there's no way I'm ever going to tell him."
"Blake... you know he has feelings for you, right?" Nelly asked, carefully choosing her words.
Ixora sat up. "He only sees me as a friend."
Nelly nodded, speaking up again.
"And you?"
Ixora furrowed her brow.
"Do you still have feelings for Drexton?"
Ixora became silent.
"I don't. I asked him to kiss me because I was scared. I almost got raped, so... it's normal," she said, her voice seeming unclear even to herself.
Nelly stared at her, but said nothing. Her mind reeled back to what happened at her apartment with Maddox.
"Did he find out?" she thought.
