Chapter 42 BEHIND BARS

Chapter 42 BEHIND BARS
\[HELL DEVILS' HIDEOUT\]

Drexton stood on the balcony, staring down at the city's night lights.

The incident replayed over and over in his head.

No matter how hard he tried to forget it, the incident forced its way back into his head.

The plan wasn't to get Ixora arrested. He wanted to scare her a little bit, and also to remind her that he was everywhere.

He had no idea she was with a knife, and to think the knife was initially meant for him meant she intended to kill him.

She couldn't escape him. Now, she is behind bars.

He would have gone and released her, but recalling his parents had also spent a night behind locked bars made his jaw tighten.

His parents also went to jail for a crime they didn't commit.

They begged and cried the same way as Ixora. Her parents insisted on staying in jail, and his parents had to spend seven days behind bars.

He balled his palm, the shocked appearance when she saw it was Blake, appeared in his head again.

Slowly, he was returning their favor.

"Guilty?"

He heard a voice he recognized as Maddox behind him.

"She deserves it," Drexton muttered, leaving the balcony.

As he climbed down the stairs, Jaxon came from behind, joining him in going downstairs.

"Blake's fans are hella toxic," Jaxon grinned, scrolling through the news.

Before Drexton could reply, a female voice called out his name.

The door pushed open, and she walked in. The first thing that caught her attention was the paintings and drawings. Weird writing. 'Hell devils' were written on every single piece of furniture.

Maddox, who was coming down the stairs, halted when he saw her.

She was the same girl whom he had splashed dirty water. He leaned on the stairs as he fixed his eyes on her.

"You have to release Ixora," Nelly said.

The guys stared at her with their usual expression.

"I know the whole truth. She told me everything that has transpired between you the both of you. She did nothing wrong. You set her up," Nelly said, trying to maintain a steady voice.

Jaxon raised his brow. Maddox furrowed his brow, while Drexton remained unflinched.

"She can't spend the night in jail. Let her out. You are the one who is a killer. You are the hell devils, and yet you have the right to set Ixora up. She is innocent."

She gulped, staring at them. They were all staring down at her as if trying to degrade her with their eyes.

"Leave now," Dexton said, his voice dangerously low.

He knew she was Ixora's friend. He had done a background check on her.

Nelly froze in her spot. He was asking her to leave. Does that mean Ixora would have to spend the night in jail?

"You have to come with me and release her," Nelly said, standing on her word.

"Get out," Jaxon said, tilting his head to the door.

Nelly again stared at them.

She was trying to reason with them, and they were asking her to leave.

She felt a gaze on her, and that was when she turned.

Her eyes widened as she recognized his face.

The fool.

She let out a light chuckle. "You three are friends. The hell devils. I don't expect less from the three of you. You are all a bunch of heartless men," she mumbled, sniffling in the tears that wanted to fall.

Drexton and Jaxon turned their backs on her and began walking in.

Nelly watched their retreating figure. Slowly, she took her other hand, pinching herself hard.

Her gaze landed on the knife inside the fruit basket. She fixed her gaze on the knife before slowly shifting her gaze to Drexton.

She winced, releasing her hand when she saw she had wounded herself. She exhaled and left the house feeling disappointed.

Maddox stood straight, his eyes shining with interest.

He saw every reaction that came from her.

A smirk formed on his lips.

\[U.C. POLICE STATION\]

"Release my daughter," Georgia said, rushing into the station.

"Mom," Ixora muttered.

Georgia went to her. "I will take you home with me. You won't spend the night here," she said, caressing her cheek before going back to Williams.

"You have to release my daughter," she said, directing it to Williams.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, but that is impossible. She was caught in the act."

"I am the first lady and can get you to quit your job. I want my daughter this instant," Georgia said, her voice leaving no room for empty threats.

William laughed. "Your daughter was caught in the act... there are people who'd be ready to testify against her. And as for your partaking, no one is above the laws".

"We are currently conducting a test on the knife. If her fingerprints aren't found there, then she will be released," Williams said.

"Are you trying to say my daughter will spend until whenever here. I have to get in touch with my lawyer. I'm sure he can find a solution," Georgia said, dialing her lawyer's number.

He picked up the first ring as if he were expecting her call.

"Prepare some bail papers."

\---

The lawyer had already arrived. He was currently sitting with Williams as they were going through the papers.

William sighed and faced Georgia.

"I hope you know bailing her is risky. His fans are crazy, and we are jeopardizing our work."

"It is our problem to handle," Georgia replied.

William nodded.

"Constable, bail her out."

"No one is getting bailed," a person said, coming in.

They all turned their attention to the door to see a young lady coming in, a lawyer behind her.

Ixora also faced the entrance.

"Audrey," she muttered.

Audrey went to Williams' table.

"Who are you?" William asked.

"I am Audrey, Blake's sister," Audrey introduced.

William nodded. "You looked familiar."

"Go on with the bailing process," Georgia said, interrupting them.

"There would be no bail process," Audrey stated, her voice louder.

"Listen to me, young girl, you have no idea what I am capable of."

"Your murderer of a daughter needs that, not me," Audrey replied, exchanging glances with her lawyer.

"Here, these are the proper documents. You can't bail her," the lawyer said.

Nelly rushed in.

Williams finished going through the documents.

"I'm sorry, Georgia, but she can't be released on bail."

Ixora grip hardened on the bars.

"My brother is in this state because of that murderer. If anything, I mean anything happens to Blake, I would destroy you," Audrey said, her focus going on Ixora.

Nelly held her hand. "I understand your anger, but Ixora never meant to stab Blake. You can't cancel her bail orders, please," she pleaded.

Audrey slowly took off her hand.

"Williams, until the court case is over, no one has the right to bail her, not even her mother."

"What are you staring at? Do something!" Georgia yelled at her lawyer.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, I can't assist your daughter," the lawyer said.

Georgia snapped her gaze at him. "You are fired."

Audrey's eyes were on Ixora.

"H...How is Blake?"

"So you can know if your plan worked. You know what, I warned Blake that you were not good for him. All because of you, he is in the ICU fighting for his life. Believe me, Ixora, if anything happens to my brother, I'd make sure you rot in jail," she muttered with an unshaken voice.

She faced her lawyer.

"Let's go."

They both left, ignoring Nelly's pleas.

"You have to find a way. My daughter can't spend the night here," she said, looking around. "Look at those hungry criminals, they would devour her alive. She is my daughter, and I know her very well," Georgia said.

"She is right. Ixora can't spend the night here," Nelly added.

"I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do. If she decides to withdraw her statements, then I'd free your daughter."

"Why don't you get it?! My daughter can't stay in the same cell as those criminals!" Georgia yelled, feeling frustrated and useless by the whole thing.

Her daughter was behind bars, and she couldn't do anything to help her. She already has a dark record, and if she tries to do anything else, that would jeopardize her chances of being the first lady.

"There is a solution," William spoke up after taking time to think.

"What solution"? Georgia asked. The desperation and frustration in her voice weren't missed.
