Chapter 104 GOODBYE
\[OUTHOUSE\]
Ixora paced to and fro while hitting her phone repeatedly on her palm.
She's regained her childhood memory of Drexton and couldn't be happier. Fate had already brought them together, and she didn't know. That explains why she fell for him when she saw him at the age of sixteen.
Her parents ruined her life to the point of wiping her childhood memory because she witnessed them killing someone. If they hadn't erased it, she might have remembered Drexton sooner, and she would have made him remember her. Her heart skipped multiple beats as she couldn't wait for him to come so that she could tell him.
Despite the happiness, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. She feels like something will happen. Something bad. Terrible.
The paranoid feeling hasn't stopped but has grown worse. It's fifteen minutes past six, and Drexton hasn't arrived. He was the one who set six as the stated time. Then why wasn't he there?
Her phone notification had been popping up madly, but she was too consumed and worried to peek at it.
Drexton's strange behaviour, and now he hasn't come.
She unlocked her phone to call Drexton, but her eyes caught the latest news.
Curiously, she clicked on one of them.
"Just in, the Hell Devils have been caught. Citizens are in shock to realize that the people who have been putting terror in their eyes were no other than the people whom they adore deeply. They are Jaxon Creed, Maddox Creed and lastly, Drexton Blackthorn."
"What!" Ixora exclaimed, and the phone fell from her hand. "This is a lie!!"
She picked up the phone with a trembling hand and bolted to the door.
They can't be arrested. They are not bad. The people will have to listen.
She has to be at the station.
Drexton needs her.
She flagged down a taxi and got in.
"U. C police station."
The driver had barely driven when someone jumped in front of the car.
He raised his index finger, signifying just a minute.
He knocked on Ixora's window.
Ixora wanted to snap at him when she saw the thing he was holding in his hand. It contained Drexton's photo.
"In here, you'll find out the truth about Drexton." He handed her the parcel.
Ixora, having no time, collected the parcel.
"Drive and hurry up," she told the driver while opening the parcel.
Ricky took off his cap and connected the earbud.
"It's done."
\[U. C POLICE STATION, CELL\]
Drexton's fist curled around the bars, his veins stretching deeply.
This isn't where he should be.
He should be with Ixora, not locked up here.
He knew a day like this would come, when he would be questioned.
When he would be seen as a killer who frightens people, but he didn't know it would come today. When he would want to grab Ixora's face and kiss her until she ran breathless. Then he would have her stare at him with those enchanting hazel eyes. Just like she did when she was five.
She will want to speak, but he will shut her up and confess his feelings for her, together with his wrongdoing. Everyone makes mistakes, and he knows his will hurt her.
He would let her hit him, curse him, even give her a gun to shoot at him if it would make her happy. When she's calmed down, he will hug her and tell her how much he loves her.
He laid the trap and fell into it.
The game might be his, but she's the one who says who will win and lose. He did lose the game, but he got to feel again and got to taste her love.
He's waiting for somebody to arrive, and once the person does, he will go to her.
They've never killed the innocent, and never will.
Voren's wife found out about his infidelity, and he went to the kitchen and set the house on fire. His wife and son died, and the hell devil had to take care of him.
People like him don't deserve to be in their city.
Mr Vaughn raped his 14-year-old daughter, and together with his wife, they hid the crime.
The daughter ran away, and Mrs Vaughn went after her life instead.
She did kill a person with her daughter's face, but...
"She's weird," Jaxon said beside him. "She hasn't even spared us a glance since we were brought in here."
Drexton faced them to see a girl had her back turned to them.
She was staring at the wall where numbers were written.
The days past were circled, and the remaining days were not circled.
"Who are you?" Jaxon asked.
"Alexa, Vaughn's real daughter," Drexton replied, eyes fixed on her.
"Vaughn's daughter?" Maddox asked, slightly confused. "I thought she was killed. You confirmed her death."
"Ariel was killed," Alexa spoke up in a cold voice. "My doppelgänger."
"Drexton, what is going on?" Jaxon asked.
"Because of their striking resemblance, Vaughn's men went after her doppelgänger, thinking it was Alexa. She was on the run when they killed her," Drexton replied, his mind reeling back to Ixora.
He wondered how she must be feeling right now. Crying? He had told her countless times not to cry, but he knew her well enough.
He was also wondering why she hadn't come to see him. He knows she will rush off as soon as she sees the news.
"So, if her doppelgänger was killed, how then did she end up behind bars?" Jaxon asked.
"I framed myself up," Alexa replied. "After hearing the death of Ariel, I knew she was after my life. I had to return to New York if I wanted to stay alive. Luckily for me, I stumbled upon a police officer and stabbed his leg with a pocket knife."
"So, the dates on the wall..."
"Are how many days I have left." She cut him off. "Eighteen months remain for me, and once I come out of here..." She faced them, eyes dark, voice cold, hair short, almost like that of a boy but longer. "I will get my revenge on Tanya Vaughn."
She walked towards them and stood in the middle of Jaxon and Drexton.
"I found out she is not my mother. That's why she supported her husband's actions. I have two missions to fulfill when I come out. One, get my revenge, and the second one, find my real family."
"Ixora," Drexton muttered. "The remaining member of your real family."
"Who's she?" Alexa asked.
A constable came, interrupting their conversation.
"Drexton, someone brought a parcel for you." he unlocked the bars.
"Who?" Drexton stepped out.
"She said her name is Ixora."
Drexton immediately collected the parcel and ripped it apart.
Jaxon and Maddox stood behind him, curious about what was inside.
Inside the parcel was a video recorder.
Drexton speedily played the video, and their eyes went wide.
Inside the video was his discussion with Maddox and Jaxon.
The night of his birthday, when he revealed all had been a plan to play her. And it ended when he called her play pet.
An audio recorder was played, and it was a voice he couldn't recognize telling Ixora that he had been playing her all along.
"This can't be," Maddox muttered.
Drexton's hand touched a paper, and slowly he took it out.
All colors drained from his face, and the package fell from his hand as he stared at the one word on the paper.
Goodbye.
He could recognize the writing anytime, any day, and he knew it came from Ixora.
"Noo!!!" he screamed out and made to run out of the station.
"Stop him!" the constable alerted, and they began holding Drexton.
"Drexton!"
"Ixora!" Drexton struggled, trying to release himself.
He was acting crazy. Mad.
Ixora can't leave him.
She can't.
He knows he has wronged her.
He's ready to make amends.
She should listen to him. At least just once.
The inspectors kept increasing.
Jaxon and Maddox also tried to stop him, but he had gone crazy.
No one could stop him.
"Ixora!!!" Drexton screamed, forcefully releasing himself from their holds.
They all fell.
Like a madman, he began running out of the station.
"Get my gun!" Inspector Williams said.
A gun was given to him.
He pointed the gun and aimed at Drexton's legs.
Before Maddox could interfere...
He pulled the trigger.
"Argh!" Drexton groaned, clutching his leg as he didn't stop.
He limped away, determined to reach Ixora.
He had regained his senses and could feel pain, but the pain couldn't even stop him.
Another bullet was fired.
His voice rippled through the air as he fell.
He was bleeding heavily.
"Drexton!"
