Chapter 90 Chapter 90

Chapter 90 Chapter 90
Tessa

The idiotic man marked my entire neck. After he had passed out, I left a note for him and called Jax. I knew when they got here and booked it; I didn't expect the damn man to show up all the way here at the resort.

The next morning as we were leaving, I heard his sister talking to him. Wait, wasn't she the one that was always cold to him? I brushed it off and got into the car. On the drive home I was worried. I needed to let Savannah and the others know I was okay; he would probably do that. When I got home I was tired as hell; I made a walk-through, and everything was as I left it.

It's been two weeks since the whole fiasco. My father was being released. I had just walked out of the company to head home. When my phone rang, I was about to answer when someone touched my shoulder and I heard my name; it was a man.

“Tess?” the voice said, but I didn't answer; I was busy getting my phone out of my bag.

“Tessa?” the person said again. I wasn't Tessa; I was Anna. I made a whole show of pulling out the phone and letting it slip from my hands, giving me a reason to turn around. When I was trying to catch the phone, a guy was standing behind me, and I jumped back.

“Tessa? Is it really you?” he asked. I didn't know him. I looked around.
“Umm, are you speaking to me?” I asked, confused.

“Yes. "It's really you," he said, and I didn't like the tone of his voice.
“Sorry, my name is Anna, not Tessa. I think you've mistaken me for your friend,” I said.
“Anna,” I heard someone yell when I turned. Chelsea was waking up. She came over and hooked her arms through mine.

“Hey, I was waiting for you. I called you, and you didn't answer.” She said, looking at me, then at the guy.
“Sorry, my phone was all the way at the bottom, and I was mistaken for someone else,” I said, looking at the guy.
“Well, sorry for bothering you,” he said, walking off.

“Shittt, I forgot I needed to go to the dry cleaners.” She said, slapping her hand to her forehead before running off. I watched him walk away; he didn't turn around. I turned around and headed home. Once home, I texted Joe. I gave him the exact time and location of where I had the interaction and asked him to look into that person. He replied, "Okay."

I was having dinner when my phone rang; it was Justin.
“Yes, Justin?”

“He’s being released in three days. I did as you asked. There is a guy watching the penitentiary,” he said, and I sat up.
“Who?”

“Don’t know. He’s wearing a baseball cap, jeans, and a jacket. Do you know him?” He asked.
“No, get a picture for me.”

“Will do,” he said, ending the call. No, Kai’s security detail wouldn't make it so obvious that they were watching. The wind blew, and the curtains moved, and across the street was a parked car; the window was down, and the same guy was sitting inside.

It was him, but which one was he? Mark or Clayton?. I continued eating and acted like I didn't see him. After dinner I cleaned up a bit and then began turning out the lights to head to bed. The gun was tucked in my waistband, and I went out through the backdoor. I walked around and took a seat behind the small gate that led to the back of the house and watched the car. I could see him through the slats of the fence. It was now a waiting game.

Tilly, my cat, found me and curled up in my lap, purring softly. I was no longer that Tessa that ran when she was scared. These people tortured me, hurt me in the worst way possible, and made me so fucking scared, but no more. I wasn't going to run, never again.

I sat and watched him all night; he left at two. It didn't look like he wanted to come in yet, but he would be following me. I had a few hours of sleep before I left for work the next day. I saw the car following me but ignored it. During lunch I saw him at the corner. If I didn't know I was being followed, I wouldn't have spotted him.
That afternoon after work, I was still standing on the sidewalk. I called him, and he answered after the first ring.

KAI: Yes, beauty?
TESSA: Funny. I know where they are; come get them.

KAI: What?
TESSA: One of them is following me around right now, and the other is sitting outside the penitentiary waiting for my father. But I don't know who is who. He was at my house last night watching.

KAI: Why didn't you call last night?
TESSA: I needed to make sure it was me he was watching and not someone else. He’ll probably try to come in tonight.

KAI: Don't go home; I'm leaving Rhyland Global right now.
TESSA: I am going home. When you land, text me, and I’ll leave and go do some shopping; it’ll give you time to go in and get yourself familiar with the layout of the house. Or you can grab him on the road.

KAI: Okay, Jax is on alert.
TESSA: Okay, I’ll send Justin’s number to Jax so they can coordinate.

KAI: And who exactly is Justin?
I started laughing.

KAI: Answer me, beauty.
TESSA: Justin is a 45-year-old man, my father's best friend.
KAI: See you in a few hours, beauty.

I ended the call and walked to my car. On the drive home he was still following me. When I got home, I sent Justin's number to Jax and sent Justin a message telling him to look out for Jax and that Jax was helping too.

I took a quick shower and had something light to eat. I fed Tilly, and then I made a cup of coffee. And went back and sat down on the front porch; the minute the front door opened, he pulled off. I sat down on the rocker and drank my coffee. He passed by twice before I saw him park on the far end of the street out of sight.
I waved at my neighbors who were walking, and at eight, my phone vibrated with a message.

KAI: I’m here, beauty.

I didn't reply; I went back inside and dressed, then walked out and got into my car. I drove to the supermarket and went shopping. He didn't follow me in; he stayed in the parking lot. I was ten or fifteen minutes into my shopping when my phone vibrated.

KAI: I’m waiting for him.

Mark Rusland was going to learn a hard fucking lesson now, both he and his son.
