Chapter 68 Chapter 68

Chapter 68 Chapter 68
Kai

I left her on the balcony and headed straight to my office; once there, I called my father and told him what happened. He said he would handle it. After the call ended, I opened the drawer and pulled the ring out and looked at it. I needed a better ring for her because it would be permanent. I picked up the phone and made a few calls; within a few minutes I already had it in order. I informed Jax to pick it up before getting the registrar.

When I headed back out, she was nowhere in sight. I stood in the silent living room. I had another issue; I needed her pregnant and fucking fast. She mentioned she was using an implanted contraceptive. I wondered how I could work around that. It was going to be watching her realize that this marriage would never end.

The next morning after my shower, I found her in the kitchen; I smelled it before I even sat down.  She put a cup of coffee in front of me and turned her back to me. I was staying home today. I took the coffee and looked at her; she looked so fucking domesticated, and I have never been more attracted to a woman in my life. I saw Trisha walking around the corner and shooed her away.

Her back was still towards me. I didn't need to fill the silence; I drank my coffee and watched her move around my space. She turned and put a plate of toast, eggs, and bacon in front of me. I hated eggs. Why? I have no idea; I just do. When she reached up, the shirt went up, and I choked on my coffee. She turned around and looked at me.

“What?” she asked, clearly unaware. All I could manage was a shake of my head. I was there eating when my mother and father walked in. I was halfway through the eggs. The other provoking one had left me alone after I asked her to change.
“I see you’re having breakfast. The registrar will be here at nine,” my father said.

“Since when have you started eating eggs? I thought you hated it and threw up?” my mother asked just as she walked in.
“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Rhyland. Would you like a cup of coffee or breakfast?” she asked.
“Good morning. No, we had breakfast. For future Zaiel doesn't like eggs.” My mother said, and she looked at me while I was still eating the eggs.

“Are you an idiot? If you don't eat something, just say it," she said, looking at me. My father stared at me; my mother looked between us.
“Tessa is straightforward. “She speaks her mind,” I said, finishing the last of the eggs.

“Thankfully I don’t have to cook for you every day, or I would punish you by cooking eggs every day,” she said as she walked to the oven and pulled out the three pans of chicken pot pies.
“Ahh, I see you made more?” my father said.

I saw the way my mother looked at her. She didn't like her, but she also didn't hate her; she was still assessing her. She excused herself for the rest of the morning. We were in the living room when my mother said it, and I was waiting for it.
“Does she always speak to you like that?” she asked.

“Yes. The first time I met her was in a club, and then I met her in the elevator. I was an ass to her, and she reacted the same way. She doesn't see Zaiel Rhyland, CEO. Heir of the Rhyland family. She sees me as an annoyance. I told you I helped her when she was attacked,” I said.
“It’s good; there is more to a woman. When a woman only looks at material things, then you know what her true intentions are,” my father said.

“She is a bit rustic. She has good manners, but she needs a bit of cleaning up, especially when we will have family dinners,” my mother said.
“Mom, Tessa is an all-rounder.”
Jax walked in with the registrar behind him. He walked over to me and handed me the small bag.

“Mr. Rhyland, Mrs. Rhyland, Master Rhyland. I was summoned.”
My father stood up and shook his hand.
“Good morning. Mr. Barkley. Thank you for coming this early. My son needs to be married,” my father said.

“Ahh, I understand, and this will be strictly confidential. May I ask where the other individual is?” he asked at the same time she walked into the living room.
“Good morning,” she said, looking at the man.

Barkley laid out the papers on the coffee table. “They both need to sign, and we need two witnesses, no family members. I texted Jax and Trisha to come in. I moved, and she sat down beside me. I grabbed the pen and signed my name on the line; I handed her the pen, and she signed her name. Jax and Trisha signed as witnesses.
I pushed the NDA towards Barkley; he didn't even bat an eye. He opened it and signed it. After finishing, he stood up and looked at us. He checked over the document and looked at us.

“I will have these expedited and personally deliver the certificate to any of your residences. This will be kept confidential at all costs. I will take your leave now,” he said, shaking our hands and leaving.

Tessa stood up and looked at us. “Now that it is done. I have to head back home. For future meetings. Please inform me one day in advance if possible. Mr. and Mrs. Ryland I will take your leave,” she said, walking out. I remembered the rings and went after her. I didn't even knock; I barged into the room.
“What now?” she asked.

I opened the box and looked at her. “Your ring. You’ll need it, especially when you are visiting for family.” I grabbed her hand and put the ring on her finger. She looked at it and then at me.

I didn't buy a ring; it had to be bigger and better than the last one, sure, but in a way that was sleek, which was why I chose that deep, pink-purple diamond. Fifteen carats, perfectly clean, cut. It’s the color of a specific sunset, and frankly, nobody else on the planet has one like it. The platinum setting was purely functional, but the real detail was the hidden trail of Tanzanite pavé stones tucked away on the underside. That little flash of deep blue was just for her, a nod to something private, so when she wears the rings, which lock together perfectly,

“Are you insane?” she asked through clenched teeth.
“No.” I pulled out the other ring and handed it to her. “You’re going to put mine on,” I said with a smirk, and she rolled her eyes and grabbed the ring. Putting it on my finger. She turned and grabbed her suitcase and started walking out. My parents were in the living room.

“Goodbye, Mr. and Mrs. Rhyland. “Later, Rhyland,” she said.
