Tessa
As i walked back to the servers station i could feel the eyes on me. I got to the servers' station, and Liam, Maria, Ben, and everyone else were staring at me; even Armand, the head chef, was peeking out, looking at me, and I groaned. Chloe was about to speak, and I raised my hand, stopping her.
“Short story, I used to work in the same building that he lives in, a caretaker for an elderly lady. I didn't know who he was. He was rude to me, so I was rude to him. I was an asshole to him and likewise. We aren't really friends, just two people who hate each other. I'm always rude to him, hence the name "Firecracker," I said, leaning against the bar.
Ashley, the bartender, gave me a bottle of water.
“Damn, I have never seen the cold bastard smile” Sarah said.
“I know, right, and he spoke so casually,” Ben said.
“He made it seem like you guys are really good friends?” Liam said.
“Because he’s an asshole and always tries to get a rise out of me, he’s always saying shit to piss me off.” I replied.
Zaiel and his two were the only ones in the restaurant. i was clearing up my section when i felt the presence behind me making me spin around.
“Jesus Christ, Rhyland, don’t sneak up on me,” I said, holding my heart. I looked around and everyone was busy doing something but i knew they were listening.
“Have you spoken to Bryce about his mother’s funeral?” he asked.
“No, i’ll call him tomorrow.” i said, as i continued clearing the table.
“So about Clarissa,” he said.
“Not interested. “Go home, Zaiel,” I said, and he just stood quietly looking at me.
“Fine. Just stop going around punching people,” he said before walking away.
“See you when I see you, firecracker,” he yelled before walking out.
When i walked out of the restaurant i was tired. I got into the car, and before I could start it, my phone rang. I saw the name. I answered and put it on speaker..
TESSA: Yes Kai, let me guess you already know.
He was quiet.
KAI: You’re mine you know that right?
TESSA: Yes
KAI: So why is it going around that you and ZAIEL RHYLAND ARE CLOSE AND FRIENDS.
I groaned.
KAI: Answer me, Tessa
TESSA: Kai, i’m tired, my feet are sore, i’m hungry, i just want to go home and shower and sleep. If i say there is nothing between me and Zaiel then believe me.
KAI: Fuck freedom, you’re mine and i’ll make that clear.
Before I could answer the call ended. Jesus. I dialled Zaiel’s number, he answered on the second right..
ZAIEL: Firecracker, i never thought you would call me.
TESSA: Zaiel
ZAIEL: Tessa are you okay?
TESSA: No. i need you to stop please. What you did tonight was not good. To everyone present, it seemed like there was something happening between us, and by morning some stupid rumor will be spreading all over.
ZAIEL: Tessa.
TESSA: No. When i disappeared did you think i was running from my stepbrother alone? No. I was running from someone else. Just please.
ZAIEL: And what if i want you?
I froze; no, this was not happening.
TESSA: I’m not… I'm not interested, Zaiel; just stay far away from me, please.
I ended the call and started the car and drove home. Once i got home, i showered and got into bed, I barley registered the bed move but was too out of it to worry.
I woke up to my alarm, and I sat up and checked the time. It was nine AM. I dragged myself to the kitchen; I needed a coffee. I walked half asleep to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. It was while i was washing my face that i felt it, something heavy on my left hand, my eyes flew open instantly and was horrified.
On my left hand, on my ring finger there was a ring. I began pulling it off but it wouldn't budge, When i looked up my face went pale, I hurriedly pulled my shirt off and stood looking at my reflection in the mirror. I rushed out of the room and grabbed the phone and dialled his number, he answered on the first ring.
KAI: Bea…..
TESSA: ARE YOU FICKING INSANE, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU. YOU SAID YOU WERE SORRY AND THEN YOU PULL THIS FUCKING STUNT. WHY THE FUCK CAN’T THIS RING COME OFF, WHY THE FUCK IS MY ENTER BODY COVERED IN LOVE BITES
I yelled into the phone. He was silent. I took a deep breath.
TESSA: What was going through your head when you decided this was okay?
KAI: That should keep everyone away from you, especially Rhyland.
TESSA: Kai, I have to work. How do I hide all of these?
KAI: i really don’t care beauty. You’re mine, and that’s it.
TESSA: I will fucking murder you when I catch you.
I ended the call and threw the phone onto the table. Jesus, this man was crazy. My say was shit; I did everything possible to get the ring off but couldn’t. I did most of the hickeys with makeup. When I walked into work that afternoon, I turned the huge-ass diamond on the ring into my palm.
My shift that night, Liam, Ben, and the others had more questions about my relationship/friendship with Zaiel. By the end of the week, I was tired. I was free on saturday night. I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning. I hadn't heard from Kai for the past three days, and honestly, I was relieved.
I was putting away some laundry when my phone rang, it was sarah, i answered.
“Hey Sarah?”
“Tes, i’m free. So is Ben, Liam, Chole and Maria. We’re going out a welcome to The Luxe night out for you. Meet us at Rikers at eight, we aren't taking no for an answer. We’ll just come to your place and get you. “We’re going to drink and party,” she said, ending the call, and I was left staring at the phone.
Sarah was a force, she just steamrolled you never giving you a chance. I knew they would show up here, so I had no choice. By eight I was already dressed. I had to
rummage through my closet to find something suitable to wear something that could hide the fading hickeys. I settled on a a pair of tight fitting sleeveless red romper. By the time i got into Manhattan it was almost nine. I parked the car and walked over. I spotted Liam first.
“Goddamn Tess, you clean up good” liam said smirking.
“Yea yea” I said
After a few minutes Maria showed up with Chole , then liam and Sarah. Once we wear all accounted for we headed in, Apparently Liam knew the bouncer so we had no problem getting in.
When we got in we too a booth in a corner , the first round was on me.
