Chapter 419

Chapter 419

Aria fell silent, and Lewis let out a soft sigh.

Forget it, if she didn't know, she didn't know. Why did he always have to argue with her?

After all, it was just those people being wishful thinkers; it didn't have much to do with Aria.

Lewis was about to speak when Aria suddenly said, "I think I remember how I met him."

Unlike her initial encounter with Lewis, Aria's meeting with Marcus was more like a drama titled "Me and My Picky Boss."

Years ago, when Aria was gaining experience, she worked as a designer for a high-end club for several years. Marcus was one of the clients she and her mentor were responsible for.

These memories brought back unpleasant feelings, and her expression darkened. She spoke with a hint of frustration, "I designed clothes for him, and he had a ton of complaints. I revised and revised, and finally, when I got to the last version, he asked for the first one! And not just once!"

Lewis remained silent.

No designer likes to hear a client say they want the first version after countless revisions.

Even a genius like Aria wouldn't be happy about it.

After a pause, Lewis couldn't help but laugh, "Let's keep our distance from him in the future."

Just mentioning Marcus made Aria's face darken, showing how bad those memories were.

Aria nodded in agreement and leaned against Lewis's shoulder.

"Is everything okay now?"

"No major issues," Lewis replied, though he knew he couldn't let Aria know if there were any.

For the first three months, they had to avoid anything stressful.

Aria sighed, "New Year's is coming up. I want to go on vacation, but don't want to move."

Lewis glanced outside at the snowflakes drifting down, guessing why Aria didn't want to go out.

It was too cold.

The closer it got to New Year's, the colder it became.

By the time they got home, Aria had fallen asleep.

The Windsor Mansion had a small light on, with Leroy sitting next to it, engrossed in a computer game.

He wore headphones, so there was no sound, but his facial expressions showed how intense the game was, like a silent movie.

Aria woke up from Lewis's movements and hooked her arm around his neck to look at the person in the living room.

"Leroy."

Leroy jerked his head up from the game, startled, "What?"

"Turn on the lights, or you'll ruin your eyes."

Leroy patted his chest, looking at the two figures in the dim light, and ran to turn on the lights.

The faint smell of alcohol spread in the air, surprising Leroy, "Lewis! Did you take Aria out drinking?"

Lewis remained silent.

He looked into Leroy's eyes and asked sincerely, "Do I seem that irresponsible?"

Leroy was silent.

He looked into Lewis's eyes and slowly shook his head.

Aria laughed so hard she almost fell off Lewis's shoulder.

When she finally calmed down, she wiped the tears from her eyes and asked, "Where are you sleeping tonight? The front or the back?"

Since many people often stayed at the Windsor Mansion, Lewis had divided the area into a small estate.

Besides the small villa for Carl, there was another standalone villa for Leroy and Garrett, with bedrooms on the third floor reserved for them.

Leroy, not having to deal with overseas affairs, showed his youthful side, his eyes shining as he looked at Aria, "I'm heading to the back. Got a sleepover with some friends tonight!"

Aria sighed, "Alright, but remember to call someone if you feel unwell."

"Got it!"

Leroy dashed out with his computer like a gust of wind, full of energy.

Aria couldn't help but sigh, "Youth is wonderful."

She used to be able to work nonstop for 48 hours, but now her body couldn't keep up.

Lewis chuckled and lifted Aria slightly, "No, you're still very young."

Aria smiled and kissed him.

Being pregnant made her tired easily, and after a bath, she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Lewis's phone buzzed twice. He glanced at it, tucked Aria in, and answered the call, speaking softly, "Yes."

Zachary paused, then lowered his voice, "Is Aria asleep?"

Lewis closed the door gently, his voice returning to normal, "She just fell asleep. She's pregnant, so she gets tired easily."

"How was the party tonight?"

"Not great."

Lewis sighed, making Zachary's heart race, "What happened?"

"Someone tried to steal my wife right in front of me."

Zachary was confused.

It was so surreal that he couldn't respond immediately.

After a moment of silence, he asked, "Who?"

Who would be so bold as to try to steal Lewis's wife right in front of him? Crazy!

"Marcus Griffith."

Zachary was stunned.

Wasn't Marcus here for business? Why was he after Aria?

Zachary took a deep breath and decided to support Lewis, "If Marcus isn't here sincerely for business, Lewis, you can send him back to Sylvanor without consulting me."

"Business?" Now it was Lewis's turn to be confused, "What business?"

"The maritime market we recently opened up. Marcus came to inquire about it. Didn't he mention it to you?"

Marcus's eyes had been glued to his wife since he walked in, probably forgetting all about the business.

Lewis sneered, tapping his finger on the table, "Got it. I'll handle it."

Zachary wisely hung up.

Lewis gazed out at the night, like a hunter lurking by a trap.

...

Morning.

The sound of snow being shoveled was the most pleasant natural sound.

Lewis slowly opened his eyes and reached out, only to find the space beside him empty.

His foggy mind instantly cleared, and he quickly got out of bed and walked to the door, "Aria?"

Alice tilted her head, "She went down for breakfast, Mr. Windsor. No need to rush."

Lewis sighed in relief, but still wanted to check on her.

He wouldn't be at ease until he saw that Aria was okay.

As he reached for the door handle, Alice interrupted again, "Mrs. Windsor said there are guests downstairs. Please get ready before going down."

Early in the morning, it definitely wasn't Garrett and the others.

Lewis pulled back the curtains and looked outside coldly.

Besides the sound of shoveling, there was a black car near the estate entrance that didn't belong to them.

He sneered and slowly uttered the name, "Marcus."
