Chapter 644 No One

Chapter 644 No One

The driver led the way, with Zoey and Linda trailing close behind. Dane walked on the driver's left side.

The two seemed unusually close, almost arm in arm.

In reality, Dane was supporting the driver, who was still groggy from the drugs and couldn't stand on his own.

Dane, sweating bullets, grumbled, "Man, you're heavy! Ever thought about losing some weight?"

"Shut up!" the driver snapped.

If it weren't for Dane's betrayal, he wouldn't have been ambushed and captured.

And now he had the nerve to complain!

The group of four walked down the corridor, and the security guards inside didn't bat an eye at their odd formation.

This showed the driver's usual intimidation.

They reached the room at the end of the corridor. The driver, weak and leaning on Dane, stopped at the door. "She's in here."

"Go in," Zoey ordered.

The driver gritted his teeth and signaled Dane to push the door open. The two of them entered first, followed by Zoey and Linda.

As soon as Zoey stepped into the room, she felt something was off. The room was too empty.

Not a single person inside.

Zoey turned around and kicked the driver in the stomach, making him drop to his knees, his legs instantly going numb.

"Shit!"

He cursed instinctively, but when he looked up and met Zoey's icy stare, he swallowed his words.

"You lied to me."

Zoey walked up to him, a knife appearing in her hand. She tapped the sharp blade against his face, leaving a thin cut.

The driver suddenly laughed.

"What's so funny?"

"I'm laughing at how dumb you are."

The driver turned his head slightly and spat out a mouthful of blood. "Since you knew this was a trap, didn't you think she might be in on it too?"

Zoey quickly turned around.

A gun was pointed right at her forehead.

Linda looked at Zoey with a blank expression. "Sorry, I can't let you leave here."

"So it was all an act."

At that moment, Zoey understood everything.

Linda smiled. "How was my performance?"

She glanced at the driver.

"That slap you gave me was really harsh. My face still hurts."

The driver chuckled. "It was for realism. Once we deal with this woman, you can slap me as much as you want."

The driver acted submissively in front of her, completely different from his previous arrogant attitude.

Linda snorted coldly and kicked Dane, who had been pretending to be dead. "Untie his ropes."

Dane looked at Zoey.

Seeing that she was already being held at gunpoint, he had no choice but to switch sides and help the driver untie the ropes.

The driver twisted his wrists and snorted. "I thought you were tough, but you were fooled by us. Once you're in here, you'll never get out. You have only one option: forget your past and serve men well. If you do a good job, maybe you'll get to see your family again."

He reached out to touch Zoey's face, but Linda's glance made him withdraw his hand awkwardly. "Tie this woman up. She's too dangerous."

Linda pointed the gun at Zoey's head with one hand and held the rope with the other.

"You saved me in the contaminated zone, and I'm grateful, but I'm sorry, this is your fate."

"Fate? I believe in everything except fate."

As Zoey finished speaking, she suddenly made a move, aiming to grab the gun from Linda's hand. But Linda was prepared and quickly fired.

Zoey dodged, and the bullet hit the wall.

Linda's fingers gripped the gun handle like a vice, but Zoey, now close, used her other hand to swiftly grab Linda's elbow and forcefully twist it.

Linda groaned in pain, her grip loosening slightly.

Zoey's knee struck Linda's abdomen, forcing her to retreat.

At the same time, Zoey's fingers quickly reached for the trigger guard, causing the gun to shake violently.

"Let go!" Zoey commanded coldly.

She struck Linda's wrist, causing the gun to fall to the ground, which Zoey kicked under the corner sofa.

Linda responded with a fierce high kick aimed at Zoey's temple.

Zoey ducked, blocking with her left hand while her right fist aimed for Linda's chest.

Linda twisted to deflect the blow, her elbow slamming into Zoey's shoulder.

With a thud, Zoey staggered but used the momentum to grab Linda's wrist and execute a clean over-the-shoulder throw, smashing her into the expensive mahogany table.

The table shattered, splinters flying.

Linda groaned in pain but quickly rolled away from Zoey's follow-up stomp, springing to her feet and grabbing a broken table leg to stab at her.

In the corner, the driver saw Linda struggling and couldn't hold back any longer. He lunged for the sofa to retrieve the gun.

Just as his fingers were about to touch the gun handle, he was struck on the back of the head with a chair.

The driver turned in shock to see Dane, trembling and holding the chair.

"Sorry, I have to help her. She poisoned me."

The driver's vision went black, and he collapsed to the ground.

The sudden turn of events caused both Zoey and Linda to pause momentarily.

Dane didn't look at the fallen driver; instead quickly grabbed the gun from the floor, but he didn't know how to use it.

"Give it to me."

Zoey and Linda spoke almost simultaneously.

Dane gritted his teeth and tossed the gun into the air, aiming for Zoey.

Zoey's fingers expertly caught the gun handle, pointing it steadily at Linda.

After a long moment, Linda sighed.

"I surrender."

She knew she couldn't survive with a gun pointed at her.

Zoey took her to the police station, and the entire illicit operation was thoroughly investigated, uncovering substantial evidence of crimes and shutting it down completely.

When the driver woke up, he was already at the police station.

As for Dane, he begged Zoey for the antidote.

Zoey told him, "I lied."

Dane was stunned, pounding his chest in regret for believing her.

In the end, he gained nothing and had to face the police.

After resolving the matter, Zoey was hugged tightly by Henry as soon as she stepped out of the police station.

"Are you okay?" Henry asked anxiously.

"I'm fine, really."

"You disappeared suddenly, and your phone was unreachable. The professors were about to call the police."

He had managed to stop them.

But he got scolded by the professors, who accused him of not caring about Zoey.

It wasn't true.

He just believed Zoey always had her reasons for what she did.

On the way back, Zoey couldn't help but recall Linda's words.

"You won't win."

What did that mean?

When Glenn heard about Linda's arrest, he immediately went to the police station to visit her. No one knew what they talked about in prison, but when he came out, he looked dazed.

He almost tripped at the door.

"Are you okay?" a nearby officer asked with concern.

Glenn shook his head, his reaction delayed. "I'm fine."
