Chapter 640 What Kind of Person
Chapter 640 What Kind of Person
The black car door stayed shut for a moment before finally swinging open. The driver stepped out, holding a gun.
"You're pretty good. Nice driving skills."
Zoey glanced at the gun. "If you know I'm good, why run? Shouldn't you explain why you took my friend?"
"Your friend?" The driver chuckled. "Do you even know who you saved?"
"I saved my friend."
The driver laughed like he'd heard the funniest joke ever and couldn't stop.
Zoey stared at him coldly.
The driver, finding it less amusing, said, "You're quite an interesting person. Haven't you thought that being friends with someone might put you in danger?"
"Why don't you have everyone else in the car come out and say that to my face?"
Zoey didn't take the driver seriously at all.
The driver snapped his fingers, and three muscular men stepped out of the car, followed by a shorter person.
Linda's hands were tied behind her back, and her expression was complicated.
"You shouldn't have come."
"If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have come. But I can't just sit back and do nothing."
Linda lowered her eyes. "I'll get you into trouble."
"Are you four going to come at me all at once, or one by one? I'm fine with either."
Zoey said.
She was in a hurry.
"I have a party to get to. Let's wrap this up quickly so I can get back."
The driver had never seen someone so arrogant, especially a woman. "You think you're so tough, don't you? Haven't you considered that this might not be about your friend, but about you?"
"Trying to lure me in, huh?"
Zoey had considered that possibility, but she loved adventure and excitement.
If it was about her, she wanted to see it for herself.
"Just you few guys, how do you plan to target me?"
"Of course, it's not just us." As he spoke, several cars sped towards them in the night. The driver looked in that direction with a sinister smile.
"They're here."
"So, you were prepared."
Zoey smiled and calmly watched the cars approach. A black car surrounded her white sedan.
The situation instantly reversed.
The driver sneered. "Still feeling cocky?"
The doors of the newly arrived cars opened, and about ten tall men stepped out, surrounding Zoey.
"Getting you to take the bait wasn't easy."
The driver sighed.
Zoey glanced at Linda, narrowing her eyes slightly. "You can all come at me now. Stop wasting time with useless talk."
The driver waved his hand, and the others rushed forward.
Zoey fought back with all her might. She had tried to call for help on her phone earlier, but there was no signal.
These people were well-prepared, each highly skilled and ruthless.
Zoey narrowly avoided getting hurt several times.
The driver stood nearby, aiming his gun, waiting for the right moment to shoot.
When the first shot rang out, Zoey instinctively dodged.
The bullet was aimed at her shoulder but only grazed it, tearing her clothes and skin, leaving a burning pain.
With over ten skilled fighters and a gunman watching her every move, it was a tough battle.
Though the fighters couldn't do much to Zoey, the gun caused her a lot of trouble. The driver's aim was particularly accurate.
He could avoid hitting his companions in the chaos and precisely target Zoey.
To dodge the bullets, Zoey had to keep moving, which made her vulnerable.
She dodged another bullet but couldn't avoid a kick to her knee.
She dropped to one knee, her right leg numb.
Several men rushed forward, restraining Zoey.
The driver walked up to her, lifting her chin with his gun. "Everyone says you're a tough opponent. So, I staged this whole scene just to capture you. Satisfied?"
"The performance was terrible."
The driver's expression darkened, and he raised the gun to hit her.
But he stopped just before striking.
"You're quite attractive. Before you die, I'll take good care of you."
He waved his hand, and the group took Zoey and Linda away.
Thinking the two women were now helpless, the men sat together, laughing and discussing how to deal with them. They didn't care if the women overheard.
Linda leaned towards Zoey. "You really shouldn't have saved me. Now we're both captured. What do we do now?"
Zoey replied calmly, "I couldn't just watch you get taken."
"You're too kind," Linda muttered.
Zoey ignored her. They were both blindfolded, and the car's destination was unknown.
After what felt like a long time, the car finally stopped.
They arrived at a club.
As soon as they got out, they were taken to a dark room inside the club.
Their hands and feet were chained, and without keys, they couldn't break free.
Their phones, wallets, and other belongings were confiscated.
Linda sat on the floor and sighed. "Why aren't you panicking at all?"
Zoey asked back, "What's the use of panicking?"
"I've heard about this club. It's supposed to be high-end, but it actually offers illicit services." She sighed. "It's clear why they brought us here."
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Zoey remained calm.
Linda admired her composure. "First, we need to find a way to break these chains. Then we can look for a chance to escape."
"Before we break the chains, why don't you tell me why you got involved with these people?"
Linda's expression darkened. "Is this really the time to discuss that?"
"I need to understand who they are and what they want." Zoey's piercing gaze made Linda's eyes flicker.
Finally, she gave in. "Fine, I'll tell you."
It was a simple story. Linda had a habit of gambling, but she was unlucky and always lost.
After borrowing money, she had to repay it. But she had no money.
She gambled with nothing, hoping to win big, but always lost.
"I have limits. I never borrow endlessly. I stop when I reach a certain amount."
"If you stop, why do you owe more and more?"
Linda hesitated. "Because they charge high interest! They tricked me! They said I wouldn't have to pay interest, that it was a special offer. I was drunk... and believed them."
"Are you the type to trust people easily?"
Linda lowered her head. "I told you, I was drunk."
"Was there something wrong with the drink?"
Linda nodded. "After drinking, I felt lightheaded and dizzy. I borrowed a lot of money without realizing it. When I sobered up, all the money was gone."
She had borrowed and lost it all. Then they demanded repayment. How could she pay?
"You're skilled. How did they catch you?"
Linda scratched her head. "I was tricked, just like you. You're skilled too, but they caught you."
Zoey didn't deny it.
"Now let's figure out how to escape this place," Linda said urgently. "This place is dangerous for women."
Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the door was kicked open.
The driver walked in, now wearing different clothes, showing off his tattooed arms.
"What's the conversation about, ladies?" He seemed cheerful, in a good mood.
But his good mood meant bad news for Zoey and Linda.
The driver walked up to them, pulled a chair over with his foot, and sat down. "You're lucky. A client is here tonight. I showed him your photos, and he picked..."
He pointed at Zoey. "You."
Zoey raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure he can handle it?"
He might end up impotent or dead.
The driver clapped his hands. "Good point. You're troublesome. I can't just send you over. I can't let you hurt the client. So, I'll have to restrain you."
A man walked in, carrying a cup of murky water. The driver brought the cup to Zoey.
"Drink this, and everything will be fine. Don't worry, the client doesn't like damaged goods. This won't harm you. It'll just make you weak."
So she could be easily controlled.
Zoey stared coldly at him. The driver felt a chill but thought she was already captured, so he wasn't afraid. He forced the water down her throat.
"Take her away."
