Chapter 43 Fire Of The Blood Moon
Aria felt it before she saw him.
A pulse of dark energy sliced through the air like a blade, sharp and violent, making the hairs on her arms rise and igniting a low growl deep in her chest. The sensation crawled along her skin, ancient and instinctive, warning her that something powerful had arrived.
She turned slowly toward the treeline, heart pounding against her ribs.
And then she saw him.
Every step he took shook the ground beneath him.
Leaves trembled.
Branches cracked softly.
Even the wolves nearby shifted uneasily, sensing the threat.
Kael moved beside her immediately, his body tense and ready. Silver energy flickered faintly along his skin, glowing under the pale light of the rising moon.
Without looking away from Caelion, he reached for her hand.
His fingers closed around hers firmly.
The simple touch steadied her.
“He’s here,” Kael said quietly.
His voice was low, rough with restrained power.
“Stay with me. Stay alive. Stay close.”
Aria swallowed.
Her pulse raced wildly.
The warmth in her belly pulsed gently in response to the tension surrounding them. The life growing inside her seemed to react to everything—the danger, the power, the bond between her and Kael.
Their child.
No ordinary child.
The next Alpha of their bloodline.
The thought filled her with fear and strength at the same time.
Every breath reminded her that something extraordinary was growing inside her.
“He’s stronger,” she whispered softly.
Her voice trembled despite her effort to stay calm.
Her hand drifted up to Kael’s chest, resting against the steady strength beneath his shirt.
“Stronger than ever… I don’t know if I can—”
Kael silenced her instantly.
He pulled her closer and kissed her.
The kiss was fierce, desperate, and filled with emotion. His hand slid behind her neck while the other wrapped firmly around her waist, anchoring her to him.
For a moment the chaos around them disappeared.
All she felt was him.
“You don’t have to,” he murmured softly against her lips.
“Not alone.”
He pressed his forehead against hers, breathing slowly.
“Not ever.”
A faint ripple of silver energy passed between them.
“Together, Aria.”
His fingers tightened around her hand.
“Always together.”
Before she could respond, a violent explosion of energy ripped through the clearing.
Caelion attacked.
Dark shadows erupted from the forest like living weapons, tearing through branches and sending splinters flying through the air. The ground cracked beneath the force, spreading jagged lines through the soil.
Wolves howled.
Rogues shouted.
The forest shook violently.
But Aria reacted without thinking.
Silver energy burst from her body like liquid fire, blazing outward in a brilliant wave. The power surged through her veins, wild but controlled by instinct.
At the same moment, Kael’s Alpha aura erupted.
Golden energy flared from him, wrapping around them both protectively. The two powers intertwined instantly, silver and gold spiraling together like twin flames.
The impact blasted outward.
Caelion was thrown backward as the force struck him.
His shadows scattered violently.
Several rogues were flung across the clearing like leaves in a storm.
The energy slowly faded.
Aria breathed heavily, staring at her glowing hands.
Every surge of power seemed tied to the bond she shared with Kael.
The brush of his hand.
The warmth of his breath.
The steady rhythm of their hearts beating together.
She felt the child stir inside her again.
A stronger movement this time.
“It’s… responding to us,” she whispered.
Her hand rested over her stomach instinctively.
Kael’s hands settled gently on her hips.
His silver eyes burned with awe, desire, and fierce protectiveness.
“It’s more than a child,” he said softly.
He brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face.
“It’s a promise.”
His gaze softened slightly.
“A legacy.”
His thumb traced lightly across her cheek.
“Something no one will ever take from us.”
A furious roar cut through the battlefield.
Caelion rose slowly from the ground, dark wings snapping open behind him. Shadow energy twisted around his body like living snakes.
His amber eyes burned with rage.
“Impossible,” he spat.
“She’s bonded… with him.”
His gaze sharpened as he stared at Aria.
“She shouldn’t have this power yet.”
His attention shifted toward Kael.
“You don’t know what you’ve done, Kael!”
Kael’s growl rumbled low in his chest.
“We don’t need to know,” he said coldly.
His arm tightened protectively around Aria.
“We feel.”
He leaned his forehead gently against hers.
“That’s enough.”
His voice dropped into a fierce promise.
“And I will protect her.”
His hand slid to rest over her stomach.
“And that child.”
His silver eyes glowed brighter.
“No one touches either of you.”
Aria’s hands moved slowly across his chest, feeling the energy radiating from him.
The bond between them pulsed steadily.
“Then let’s end this,” she whispered softly.
Their lips brushed together again.
“Together.”
The battle exploded around them.
Wolves and rogues clashed violently, claws flashing in the moonlight as bodies slammed into the ground. Energy crackled through the air as the forces collided.
But Kael and Aria stood at the center of it all.
Unshaken.
Every pulse of their mate bond made them stronger.
Even Caelion staggered beneath the force of their combined energy.
Kael pulled her closer again, his lips capturing hers in another fierce kiss.
“You’re mine,” he growled softly.
His voice filled with possessive certainty.
“And our child…”
His hand rested gently over her stomach.
“Our legacy…”
His silver eyes burned intensely.
“Belongs to no one else.”
Aria leaned into him as the bond pulsed outward again.
Silver and gold light spread across the battlefield like a glowing storm.
Inside her, the child stirred once more.
Its life force intertwined with theirs.
The surge of energy was immense.
Above them, the Blood Moon rose higher, bathing the battlefield in cold silver light.
Energy crackled through the forest like lightning.
Even the rogue forces hesitated beneath the overwhelming power surrounding the Alpha and his Luna.
Kael held her tightly, breathing heavily.
“We’ve crossed a line tonight,” he murmured quietly.
“A line that can’t be undone.”
His hand brushed gently across her stomach.
“You… and this child…”
His voice softened with wonder.
“You’ve changed everything.”
Aria allowed herself a faint smile despite the destruction around them.
Exhaustion tugged at her body.
But beneath it was something stronger.
“Then we never go back,” she whispered, resting her head against his chest.
Their bond pulsed again, silver and gold light spreading across the clearing.
Wolves lifted their heads and howled together beneath the Blood Moon.
Across the battlefield, Caelion stumbled backward, amber eyes wide with disbelief.
He had underestimated them.
And now he understood the truth.
They were untouchable.
Kael’s lips brushed softly against Aria’s temple.
“You’re mine,” he whispered.
“Forever.”
His hand remained over the life growing inside her.
“And so is this life.”
Aria traced the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
“And nothing,” she said softly,
“No one…”
Her eyes met his.
“Will ever separate us.”
The battlefield fell silent.
Smoke drifted through the trees.
Broken branches littered the ground.
But beneath the destruction, something new had begun.
One forged in power, love, and the unbreakable bond of Alpha, Luna, and the next generation of their bloodline.
