Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Sophia seemed unable to figure out my intentions and asked cautiously into the phone, "Mr. Smith, is there anything else you need?"

My eyes turned toward the window. Something about the atmosphere outside felt off.

After a moment of silence, I looked at the driver. "Carl, stay alert."

Carl immediately became vigilant. "Yes, sir."

I spoke into the phone, "Sophia, if I'm not back by eight, go to my room. Take the bank card from the third drawer in the cabinet and give it to George. Tell him..."

Sophia listened carefully to my instructions. "Yes, sir."

After finishing, I hung up.

The moment the call ended, a sharp, piercing screech of brakes suddenly rang out, and the car came to an abrupt halt.

I tossed away my cigarette and looked up toward the window.

Outside, more than a dozen men in black clothes with muscular builds, each holding a gun, had surrounded my car completely.

A young man emerged from behind the group of men in black, walking with light steps and a faint smile on his face.

He walked up to my car and tapped lightly on the window with his knuckles.

This man had misty blue hair, and his amber eyes gleamed with a sharp light.

He had an extremely handsome face, but like me, he was definitely not a good person.

I knew this wasn't a friendly visit.

This was Owen.

Seeing this, Carl turned back to me in panic. "Mr. Smith, are you alright?"

I glanced at him sideways, raised my hand, and gently touched the pendant on my neck.

It was a silver six-pointed star pendant that I had specially ordered to be made after returning from the deserted island.

Looking at those gun barrels pointed at me and Owen in front of me, I remained calm and composed.

I pushed open the car door and stepped out calmly.

After the car door closed, Owen looked over and spoke first with a smile. "Long time no see, James."

My gaze wandered as I curved my lips into a smile and said leisurely, "You've been watching me since I went to Rosavelle District, haven't you? Pretty close surveillance."

Owen playfully lifted a strand of misty blue hair from his forehead with his index finger, exuding a carefree attitude.

He looked straight into my eyes and said without hiding anything, "I've invited you several times, but you wouldn't do me the honor of meeting me. I had no choice but to be polite first, then forceful, and 'invite' you this way."

He changed his tone, his eyes instantly becoming sharp. "And while we're at it, let's talk about my three shipments that went missing."

I looked around at the desolate wilderness, a mischievous and cunning smile on my face. "You're planning to talk about it here?"

The Wilton family's private club sat isolated in the suburbs, far from any crowds.

The fact that this club was chosen for such a remote location wasn't simply to run club business.

On the surface, it was a place of entertainment and indulgence, but underground, it hid massive storage space—warehouses that served as Owen's secret stash point.

He chose such a remote place simply to avoid attention.

Light and shadow intertwined, the air filled with the scent of alcohol.

I sat on the soft sofa while Owen reclined comfortably across from me, his amber eyes deep and sharp, fixed intently on me.

"James, you should know why I'm looking for you."

Owen was surrounded by several heavily made-up women who eagerly pressed against him, climbing onto his lap.

One bold woman even started unbuckling Owen's belt without any hesitation.

I crossed my legs, leaned back, and watched this farce with interest.

Somehow, Ella's image floated into my mind.

Her face flushed, kneeling before me, looking up at me with a confused expression, that innocent and bewildered look made a burning desire suddenly rise in my chest.

If only Ella could throw herself at me like these women, I felt I'd have no regrets even if I died in her arms.

Owen suddenly straightened up and kicked away the woman kneeling in front of him, cursing roughly, "Get out, all of you. Can't you see I'm talking business?"

His tone was extremely harsh.

The women scrambled up from the sofa in fright and nervously retreated from the private room.

Owen glanced toward the door and said coldly, "Billy, you too."

Billy Lopez looked worried. "But Mr. Wilton..."

Owen stared at him expressionlessly and repeated, "Out."

Billy hesitated but left the room, though he didn't go far, staying by the door and keeping an eye on what was happening inside.

Now, only Owen and I remained in the private room.

The air was filled with the mixed smell of smoke and alcohol, reeking of decadence.

Owen looked at me with a satisfied smile. "I went to see Marcus. He's very pleased with our cooperation proposal and looks forward to working with me."

I looked him up and down disdainfully and said coldly, "Owen, before you talk about that, don't you think you should fix your pants first?"

Owen looked down—his waistband was loose, and his zipper was open.

"They were too enthusiastic," he said with a shake of his head, slowly zipping up and fastening his belt. "Can't help it, I have too much personal charm."

I scoffed. "Are you sure they like you and not the money in your wallet?"

Owen smiled cunningly and went along with my words. "Liking my money is still liking me, isn't it?"

As he spoke, he suddenly changed the subject and teased, "Oh, right, besides the money, they also like how I am with them in bed."

He grew more pleased with himself. "You didn't see how hungry they all looked..."

He glanced at me sideways with a mocking tone. "Come to think of it, James, you're twenty-eight and still a virgin."

Faced with Owen's vulgar remarks, I felt nothing but contempt and picked up a drink to sip on my own.

Putting down the glass, I mocked, "Then you should have continued just now, so I could see how you have sex with women."

Owen laughed heartily. "James, you're not trying to compare cock size and sexual skills with me, are you?"

I looked at him. Although I'd only been with Ella, I had absolute confidence in this area.

Just based on Ella's reactions in bed, I had more than enough confidence.

Watching me finish my drink, Owen smiled ambiguously and finally got to the point. "Aren't you afraid I poisoned the drink?"

The mockery at the corner of my mouth became more obvious. "Since you went to see my grandfather, can I do the same—dig up your grandfather and have a good chat with him?"

I was just as good at making threats.

Owen snorted coldly. Our eyes met in the air, sparks flying instantly.

I curved my lips slightly, looking coldly at Owen across from me, my words carrying a challenge. "Since you've already talked to my grandfather about cooperation, why are you looking for me?"

Owen smiled lightly. "Right now, you're the one in charge of the Smith family. Who else would I look for?"

He paused and added, "As long as you cooperate with me, I can let bygones be bygones about you losing my shipment last time."

"What if I say no? I'd like to hear," my provocative tone grew stronger as I said meaningfully, "how you plan to hold me accountable?"

A shadow instantly flashed through Owen's eyes. He walked toward me, emanating a cold aura.

"You're on my turf now. If you don't agree, do you think you can leave here alive?"

"Actually, I think," I remained calm and composed, responding with ease, "I can."

The smile on Owen's face gradually disappeared. He narrowed his eyes, staring at me intently, asking with a hint of uncertainty, "What are you trying to do?"

Just then, a deafening explosion suddenly rang out, breaking the tense atmosphere in the private room.

Dust immediately filled the club; cracks in the ceiling spread rapidly like a spiderweb; and lime and debris fell like rain.

Several bombers roared past above the club, leaving behind the pungent smell of gunpowder.
