Chapter 6 Sold to the ruthless alpha

Chapter 6 Sold to the ruthless alpha
TARA:

“I want her,” He said, putting down his hand.

My eyes shone, my lips quivering uncontrollably. The look in his eyes screamed danger and every nerve in my body pricked me to run.

Alpha Lucian, the devil Alpha of the North.

And he wants me?

“Alpha Lucian, what exactly do you mean by that? This girl here has been sentenced to die by the jury. We can’t disobey the law.” Alpha Nolan contested.

The look in Alpha Lucian's eyes grew colder by the minute. From the rumors about him, he hated being disobeyed. And whatever he wanted, he got it, by all means possible.

“Do I have to repeat myself, Alpha?”
Even though he had regarded Nolan as an Alpha, his tone didn’t hold that much respect. It was like a father talking to his child.

“That is unacceptable, Alpha Lucian. We cannot go against the laws abiding this pack. She must be killed.” Christine stepped in with her annoying voice.
“Didn’t you hear about the crime she committed?”

Nolan was signalling for her to keep quiet but she stubbornly refused.
“I stand for what is right, Alpha, and this is just wrong. Let her pay for her crimes.”

Alpha Lucian seemed unbothered about whatever she was saying. His eyes were locked on mine, a grim smirk on his lips.
“Release her. I will buy her from you, if that’s what you want. Name your price.”

“Alpha Lucian… please…”

“Name your price, Alpha. I don’t have much time to spare. The more time you waste, the price decreases.”

Nolan looked conflicted while Christine stared at Alpha Lucian in disbelief. I should be happy that the moon goddess heard my prayers and sent someone to save me. I should be happy that I could finally live and do the things I wanted to do. But…

“Please, let’s just get on with it. I don’t want to be sold to anyone.” I spoke. Again, several people gasped. I could tell what was on their mind.

A stupid girl who didn’t appreciate a second chance.

But I would rather die now than be sold to Alpha Lucian. He was a ruthless man who dealt mercilessly with people. A moment in his den would be worse than death. I couldn’t bring myself to go through a second hell.

“Fucking shut that trap and let me think,” Nolan yelled at me.

“This is my life! And I’m telling you what to do with it! I will rather die than be sold to anyone!” I yelled at the top of my voice. It was a bad decision because I immediately coughed out blood. “Kill me instead!”

Alpha Nolan just ignored me and walked over to the elders. They spoke in muttered voices, deciding my fate. Once again, my opinion didn’t matter. Since they were considering it, I was likely to be sold out.

I lowered my head, wondering how I ended up in this world. It was the greatest mistake my creator ever made. Or maybe, I was created for entertainment because every day of my life leads to chaos and bad decisions, enough to keep someone amused.

Alpha Lucian stepped forward, each step heavy with predation. His presence commanded respect and fear.

“Since you don’t want to name your price, I’ll take her at the one in have in mind.” He stepped toward me while I scurried back like prey running from its predator.

After what seemed like hours, they concluded and obviously, Nolan was the one to pass the information across.
“Alpha Lucian, this is inappropriate but because of our pending partnership, we would like to consider your offer.”

“Straight to the point. I don’t have all day.”
No one spoke to Alpha Nolan like that and got away freely. To me, it was as though Nolan tolerated his attitude because he didn't want to upset him for some reason.

“We’ve been enemies for years, attacking one another, ending useful lives for no reason but let’s call it a truce. You take what belongs to us and you give us 50 million.”
Alpha Lucian scoffed, shaking his head for a reason best known to him.

“Fifty million… for a slave… Don't make me laugh. Tell me, Alpha Nolan, would you take this thing for that price?”

“This is a different situation, Alpha. You're asking us to stop an already signed and sealed execution. It’s the least we could do.” Nolan defended himself.
“I will give you seven million for her.”

“But Alpha—”

“Six,”

“That’s—”

“Five,”

“Fine. Five million.” He groaned. “Release her.” He ordered his men and they removed the silver chains that bound my wrists. I was free… but only long enough to die again by the hands of the Alpha.

My life had just been bargained upon like I wasn’t there. I was relieved at surviving but my fear of the unknown was greater. What was going to be like in the hands of this ruthless Alpha?

I looked up to find Alpha Lucian staring down on me. He was imposing, eyes like steel, with an immense aura of menace. I was terrified to my bones.
I looked up to see Christine's disappointed face. She was seething with rage while talking to whoever.

I might not have been glad about being spared, but I enjoyed seeing that look on her face. Tasted like sweet revenge.
I rubbed my wrists, they hurt like hell.

“I will transfer the money after I get back to my room.” He said to Nolan before turning to me, the look of disgust plastered on his face. “Make sure this thing is clean and fit to ride with me tomorrow. No speck of dust or blood, please. I don’t want my car contaminated by any rubbish.”

I laughed at myself. It wasn’t funny but l laughed. Me, a thing. Rubbish.

“Yes, Alpha. It will be done.”

Alpha Lucian turned on his heels and left, leaving me at the mercy of Nolan and his lover.

“Lucky you. I wish your miserable life had ended today.” Christine said, communicating her displeasure. Her baby bump was already visible. I hadn’t seen it that night because of how poorly lit the room was.

“Don’t worry, sweetheart. Lucian only wants her as a plaything. He’ll definitely show her things worse than death.” He smiled. “You know, this is quite a good deal. We’re getting rid of you and getting compensated at the same time.”

Seeing him now, I felt disgusted and wanted to throw up. He was a pompous, arrogant, and selfish Alpha who would go out of his way to get what he wanted. I hated him with every fiber in me.
"We initially agreed to give you out just one million. But well, the Alpha is rich, and what better to extort money from him than to give him what he so desires? At least, you were useful to this pack."

"You'll regret this, I swear on my life."

Christine's hand met my face. She wanted to hit me again but Nolan held her back.
"No, babe. We don't want to inflict any more damage on the Alpha's property. I don't want his wrath." Nolan said, looking around, probably to see if anyone saw that.

"You won't be able to do anything because you will die by the Alpha's hands before the next lunar moon."
