Chapter 12

Scarlett

Soon we are out of the house, or should I say mansion. I kept quiet, and didn't want to provoke him any further. After sometime, I felt the atmosphere change suddenly, making me look up to see the black orbs from earlier were now changed into the beautiful blue ones. I gulped in fear, as nervousness washed over me. How will I ever escape him? What is he? How can he change the colour of his eyes? My mind was spinning from all the unanswered questions. I was pulled out of my thoughts when he spoke.

" They are not going to hurt you," he said, walking into the forest.

" But you will," I murmured in a low voice.

" Never ever say that again," he said through clenched teeth without sparing me a glance. I gulped at the threat behind his words and stayed quiet. He didn't say another word .

I watched as we passed through the rows and rows of trees standing tall in all their glory. I found these trees are as mysterious as the man that is carrying me in his arms.

" I hope you are ready baby," he said, looking down at me with amusement dancing in his eyes and a smirk playing on his lips.

" What the….." my words died down in my throat as suddenly I remembered what he could do.

The emotions I felt when he called me 'baby' are something I could not explain in words. It felt delicious in his mouth.

I was pulled out of my chain of thoughts as he took a sharp intake of breath and looked down at me with so much emotion and seriousness.

" Don't, I repeat , don't try to escape or he will hunt you down and you will not like the aftermath. He likes to catch his prey. Remember my words," he said, and instinctively I nodded my head at him.

Then he lowered me to the ground, and when my feet touched the cold and damp floor I shuddered.

The sun started to set and my heartbeat was rising with every passing second. My stomach twisted in knots as I felt something terrible was going to happen.

" Don't try to run away, princess. Or he will catch you," he said in a voice that made my blood freeze. I knew he wasn't joking, but at the same time I didn't understand what he meant by him.

My ears perked up at the sickening sound of the breaking of bones. All the questions that were playing in my head were all answered.

I stood there rooted as I witnessed the scenes unfolding before my naked eyes. He was bent in an awkward position and his hands that lifted me and carried me here were now turning into claws. Furr sprouted from the pore of his skin and canines grew, replacing his perfect set of teeth.

Soon he landed on the ground on four legs instead of two. Then it hit me as I realised he was the same person who attacked me in the forest that night. That black wolf. The fear and nightmare I was facing even when I was wide awake has now come alive. I felt like someone had punched the air out of me. The tears kept running like a stream from my eyes and I couldn't control them. My body shook in fear as I fell on the ground. I knew too well he would catch me if I tried to run away. And I am well aware that he warned me not to run away from this monster who was staring at me standing a few feet away.

I instinctively backed away when I saw him walking towards me. A low growl emanated from his throat as my actions displeased him.

All the things my father did to him are now crystal clear in front of me. And what did he mean by his true identity?

I didn't know when he approached me and was looking at my face. But when my gaze fell on him, I saw him draw his tongue out, making my eyes shoot up at his long and sharp canines. I immediately closed my eyes in fear. A moment passed and I felt a soft touch on my shoulder and my eyes flew open when I felt a burning sensation on my shoulders.

I looked at him before looking down at my shoulder. My eyes bulged as I checked my injured shoulder with my shaky hand. There were no injuries visible on them, but visible marks of biting.

I slowly turned my head to see his face with a racing heart. And a low scream left my mouth when I saw his eyes suddenly turn red and at the same moment there were another three wolves growling angrily at both of us.

Alpha turned in time with a loud thunderous growl that shook the ground to take down one of the wolves that attacked him.

He took that brown wolf by his neck before throwing him away. The brown wolf hit a large and huge tree and with a cracking sound as his back met with the tree, he fell on the ground with a thud.

Another two wolves growled at the alpha as one of them targeted his neck and another one went on his back. The frightening scene in front of me made my blood freeze and I thought, what if they were the same as the Alpha and could transform into humans? My chain of thoughts broke when I heard Alpha scream. I saw a dirty dull grey wolf hitting him in his neck trying to block his windpipe.

I didn't know what came over me, but I was enraged at those wolves. I stood up and searched frantically for something to hit them, and I saw a branch of the tree and I made the worst mistake I ever could. I hit the brown wolf who was biting him in his neck with the branch and the branch broke.

Alpha's eyes snapped at me, immediately telling me something. I was trying to figure out what he was telling me when Alpha turned his head to grab the wolf that was on his back before snapping his neck. And with a blink of an eye he was beside me before I could figure out what was happening. He snapped and ripped out another Wolves throat, making me sick with all the blood spilling out. He was only an inch away from biting my ribs.

My stomach churned and I turned around to throw up the water from my system. Because I haven't had anything since I woke up, I felt weak after throwing up. I stood up leaning on a tall tree, closing my eyes to keep myself from fainting.

My eyes snapped open when I heard the commotion. I saw the wolf that Alpha threw away was now carried away by some people who, I guess, are his people.

Tears ran down freely as soon as my gaze fell on the alpha. He stood there where that injured wolf had been lying, completely naked in his previous form, drenched in blood. He didn't make a move and I didn't either. He stared at me with concern in his eyes.

" I shouldn't have liked a monster like you," I whispered to myself, looking at his face. I feared him with my whole being. Now that he had bought me, it was only a matter of time when he would kill me. A lump formed in my throat as I felt hurt, yet I didn't know the reason. He was a complete stranger to me, but I couldn't help those feelings that had already built inside of me since I laid my eyes on him.

" I should have died that night when you attacked me. It is better to be dead than live with a monster," I mumbled in a low voice. He looked hurt at my statement, but I knew better from this far he couldn't hear me.

But soon my heart skipped a beat when I saw rage in his eyes and his eyes turned black again.

When he took long strides towards me, I didn't think of anything and turned around and ran away.

I heard footsteps coming behind me and I knew he was not alone.

" Don't try to escape or he will hunt you down," his words started to ring in my ears. Tears were running down wildly as I ran for my life. One thing that was playing in my head was that I wouldn't die in his hands or that beast's hands.

My vision blurred from my tears and my leg hurt from running barefoot.

Suddenly, a pair of arms caught me from behind and lifted me in the air. I thrashed my legs and my hands to free myself from that hold but it all went in vain as I was no match for him.

" Enough," he roared in his deep animalistic voice, making me stop. He put me down and turned me around to face him before lifting me and throwing me on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. I didn't dare to utter a single word as I let him carry me.
