100. A new beginning

The mansion was quiet, yet the air buzzed with anticipation. Isla had spent most of the previous night tossing and turning, the occasional sharp twinge in her belly hinting at what was to come. Dante had been by her side every step of the way, refusing to leave her even for a moment.

As dawn broke, Isla gasped as a stronger contraction rippled through her body. She clutched Dante's hand tightly, waking him from his light doze on the chair beside the bed.

"Isla?" he asked groggily before seeing the look on her face. His heart raced. "Is it time?"

She nodded, biting her lip as another wave of pain hit. "I think it's happening, Dante."

Dante sprang into action, his usual calm demeanor replaced by nervous energy. He quickly called the doctor and helped Isla get ready for the hospital. Within moments, the staff had packed their essentials, and they were on their way.

The Drive to the Hospital

The car ride was a blur of worry and excitement. Dante held Isla's hand as she leaned back in her seat, breathing through each contraction.

"You're doing amazing," he reassured her, though his own nerves were frayed. "We'll be there soon."

She gave him a weak smile between breaths. "You're more nervous than I am."

Dante laughed nervously. "That's because I can't do anything to help. I hate seeing you in pain."

"You're here," she whispered. "That's all I need."

At the Hospital

The hospital staff greeted them with efficiency, quickly wheeling Isla into a private delivery room. Dante was by her side the entire time, holding her hand as the nurses prepared her for the delivery.

"You'll be okay," he murmured, kissing her forehead. "You're the strongest person I know."

Isla clung to his words, drawing strength from his presence as the contractions grew more intense. The hours seemed to drag on, each moment stretching into eternity.

Finally, the doctor arrived, her calm presence a reassurance to both Isla and Dante. "It's time," she announced.

Dante's breath caught in his throat as he realized the moment was here. He stayed by Isla's side, whispering words of encouragement as she pushed through the pain.

The First Cry

After what felt like an eternity, the room was filled with the sound of a baby's first cry. Isla's head fell back against the pillow, tears streaming down her face as relief and joy overwhelmed her.

"It's a boy!" the doctor announced, holding up the tiny, squirming bundle.

Dante's legs felt weak as he stared at his newborn son. The baby was perfect, his tiny fists clenched and his face scrunched up in a wail.

"Would you like to cut the cord, Mr. Moretti?" the doctor asked.

Dante nodded, his hands trembling slightly as he took the scissors. He glanced at Isla, who smiled weakly at him, and then carefully cut the cord, officially welcoming his son into the world.

The nurse placed the baby on Isla's chest, and Dante felt his heart swell as he watched her cradle their son.

"He's beautiful," Isla whispered, her voice thick with emotion.

Dante leaned down, kissing her forehead before pressing a soft kiss to his son's tiny head. "You both are," he said, his voice cracking. "You've given me the world, Isla."

Meeting Amara

A few hours later, Isla was settled in her room, holding their baby boy as Dante fussed over her. He made sure she had everything she needed, from water to extra pillows.

The door opened, and a little voice called out, "Mommy? Daddy?"

Amara peeked into the room, her wide eyes taking in the scene. Dante scooped her up and brought her over to the bed.

"Amara, meet your little brother," Isla said gently, holding the baby so Amara could see him.

Amara's face lit up with delight. "My baby brother!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands.

Dante chuckled, setting her on the bed beside Isla. "What do you think, princess?"

"He's tiny," Amara observed, reaching out to touch her brother's hand. "And he's so cute!"

The baby stirred at her touch, his tiny fingers curling around hers. Amara gasped in delight.

"He likes me!" she said proudly.

"Of course he does," Dante said, ruffling her hair. "You're his big sister. He's going to look up to you."

Choosing a Name

As the family sat together, Dante turned to Isla. "Have you thought of a name?"

Isla nodded. "What about Leo?" she suggested, glancing at Dante.

Dante smiled, the name resonating deeply with him. "Leo Moretti. I like it. Strong and timeless."

"Leo," Amara repeated, testing the name. "I like it too!"

"It's settled then," Isla said, her eyes glistening with happiness. "Welcome to the world, Leo."

Adjusting to the New Normal

The days following Leo's birth were a whirlwind. The mansion was alive with joy as family and staff celebrated the arrival of the newest member of the Moretti family.

Dante was more hands-on than ever, taking care of both Isla and Leo while still making time for Amara.

One evening, Isla watched from the doorway as Dante rocked Leo to sleep, his large hands cradling the tiny baby with surprising gentleness.

"You're a natural," she said softly, stepping into the room.

Dante looked up and smiled. "I've had good practice with Amara."

"You've been amazing, Dante," Isla said, wrapping her arms around his waist. "I couldn't have done this without you."

"You're the amazing one," he replied, kissing her softly. "You brought our son into this world. I'm just lucky to have you both."

As they stood there, watching their son sleep, Isla felt a sense of completeness she had never known before. Their family was growing, and though the journey had its challenges, she knew they would face them together.

And in that moment, surrounded by love and happiness, Isla knew that this was only the beginning of their next adventure.
